Sarah Jane Smith, Louise Jameson as the Doctor’s captivating new companion Leela and guests
stars Tim Pigott-Smith, Stephen Thorne, Peter Pratt, Pamela Salem, David Collings, Christopher

From what I can make out in the video, the back of the box depicts the TARDIS within the Mandragora Helix.

Season 14 is a brilliant season of Doctor Who. Certainly part of a golden era. In particular, ‘The Deadly Assassin’ , ‘The Robots of Death’ and ‘The Talons of Weng-Chiang’ are all time greats in my opinion.

Pre-ordered from Zoom as usual. Looking forward to this and the trailer is great.

I made the hard decision at weekend and sold all my remaining Classic DVD’s at CEX as won’t be watching them again. Kept the booklets though. I just hope we do get the full collection on Bluray as promised even if it takes 10 years.

Did you watch the Dvds that much before you sold them off. What if you feel like dipping in to a certain story. I,d have kept the seasons that so far haven,t been announced. Unless you have Britbox it would feel like a long wait to physically owning them at hand.

    • dazzleshell

      January 14th, 2020 - 12:44pm

I’d watched them all over the years but only went back to certain episodes more recently.

I’m happy to wait considering it took a good 15 years to build up the full dvd collection. And it looks so much better on Bluray especially on my 55 inch 4K TV.

Originally keeping them was my plan as I was selling the Seasons as they were announced/rumoured but better to maximise my return now as the price was beginning to drop for all DVD’s.

    • The Ergon

      January 14th, 2020 - 2:59pm

Its a wonder you could get hardly anything at all for them. They only give 10p for earthshock. I would rather a charity shop benefit from the sales if i couldn,t sell on an open market stall or Ebay.

    • dazzleshell

      January 14th, 2020 - 11:12pm

I was happy to get £180 cash. Although would have been £250 if I took a voucher for CEX instead. But It would have taken years to spend it in store.

The prices for the Seasons on DVD drop once the Bluray sets are announced as more people trade in the DVD’s. Although some are less due to how much they have in stock Nationally.

I got £4 for Earthshock for example before Season 19 came out on Bluray.

    • The Ergon

      January 14th, 2020 - 11:33pm

Youre lucky. Thats not the case now. Theyve really reevaluated those Who DVD selling prices along with the Blurays especially when word got out about season 12 being rereleased and certain types of people quietly planning on cashing in. Those Blu-ray prices soon plummeted.

    • Gordon

      January 14th, 2020 - 9:34am

Both unlikely this year to be honest. 7 has a ton of problems with the colour of ambassadors of death and they just not that long ago released season 23. As there is only 1 Colin season left they will probably want to space out his only other season. Maybe late 2021/2022 for that. Season 20 has been unofficially confirmed for the summer by someone who worked on an extra for it so that will probably be next. 2 and 11 are also both rumoured for after that so it could be either of those 2

    • Hi

      January 14th, 2020 - 10:30am

      Hello Gordon
I don’t think it will be season 2 because of animations unless if they put the vhs links or get it animated late 2020 or photo reconstruction but I will be happy to have a season 2 even though if it would have a reconstructed by photos

    • Anonymous

      January 14th, 2020 - 10:40am

Well there are two Hartnell episodes confirmed (by Paul Vanezis) to be in the hands of a private collector. Maybe they’re the two episodes of The Crusade.

    • Gordon

      January 14th, 2020 - 10:59am

Not saying it’s never going to happen but Crusade is unlikely to be animated anytime soon. With the exception of masterplan and Marco Polo It’s the most expensive story to animate. There is the same amount of sets characters and costumes as galaxy 4/evil/abominable combined. It’s going to take more than a year which is longer than the time bbc allows these projects currently. It’s unlikely to be considered at the moment when there is cheaper and easier animations that can be done. Animation Probably won’t get considered till long after the collection range is done. A telesnap recon is most likely

Those 2 episodes are said to be from separate stories and rumoured to both be from season 3 stories

Im kind of hoping its Seasons 11 and 20 for pretty much similar reasons for both. If Season 11 is released, we would already have 10, 11 and 12 and like wise we would have 18, 19 and 20 as well.

They have very explicitly said countless times for several years now that The Crusade is not getting animated, the costs involved would be absolutely ridiculous.

    • Anonimo

      January 14th, 2020 - 3:42pm

What exactly is known about these two episodes? And when could we see them in your opinion?

    • Anonymous

      January 14th, 2020 - 5:15pm

They are held by a private collector, very busy individual, not a Doctor Who fan, no malicious intent, being kept in good storage conditions. His initial thought from the identity of the episodes was that they were part of the Australia return batch from 1975, but apparently they have come from another source (it’s worth noting that only narrows it down to 47 episodes, and The Crusade is definitely not among them).

Don’t expect them any time soon, any chance of recovery is still several years off.

The original rat attack on leela was ok, in fact it was terrifying as a child watching it was just that big fluffy Roland Rat thing with the whitened teeth that spoiled the effect.

      January 14th, 2020 - 11:54pm

I wasn,t old enough to have seen Bok, only through pics i,d seen in the 80s Doctor Who Mags and i wasn,t that impressed. He looked more eerie at first when i bought The Daemons VHS. I started watching during Pertwees final season and was Transfixed and hooked by all those bizarre looking creatures (in Black and White for me. Didnt have colour TV till late 70s) so i,m of the Gen that was scared by Davros on Genesis, zygons, the clown from Deadly Assassin and keelers transformation in Seeds. Nightmarish to a small child of the 70s but it was the autons from terror and Spearhead that freaked me the most when i saw clips on those celebratory programmes plugging those repeats of the ‘five Faces of Who’ in 1981. Series 12 to 14 will always be my all time favourites.
