Doctor Who The 60th Anniversary Specials Original Soundtrack CD

Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary consisted of three special episodes – The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle – that aired between November 25 and December 9, 2023. To celebrate DOCTOR WHO DAY 2026, Silva Screen Records are proud to be releasing MURRAY GOLD’s exceptional scores to the three anniversary episodes. The collection will be released as three digital albums on 23rd November – DOCTOR WHO DAY and the triple disc set will be released on 27th November.

Composer Murray Gold returned to Doctor Who with the 60th-anniversary special The Star Beast, which premiered on November 25, 2023. His triumphant musical return featured a brand-new arrangement of the iconic theme and reprised fan-favourite motifs like I Am The Doctor as David Tennant and Catherine Tate reunited on screen.

Gold reunited with showrunner Russell T Davies after stepping away following the 2017 Christmas special, bringing back his signature grand orchestral style. The score seamlessly blended nostalgia from Series 4, which also featured David Tennant and Catherine Tate, with unexpected melodic throwbacks, including the strategic reuse of the Eleventh Doctor’s theme when Donna regained her memories. Gold also delivered fresh arrangements for the updated opening title sequence and broader Whoniverse soundscape.

As Murray says: “On this album is a record of all the music that went into that transitioning series between the return of Doctor Who with David Tennant and Catherine Tate in 2023 up to the first season of Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor which began on Christmas Day the same year. It’s a pretty exhaustive volume.”

Blimey what happened to Timelash and The other classic release. MArk seemed to suggest a CD and Vinyl for both.

This pops up with a no previous muttering. Fantastic news.

Make the Ncuti season more likely too.

Great to see this coming out, but the cover is a bit of a mess. Surely they could’ve repositioned the Tardis so it can be clearly seen? Now it’s just cropped off the top.
