The Master arrives on Earth at a circus run by a man named Rossini and steals a dormant Nestene energy unit from a museum. He reactivates it using a radio telescope and uses his hypnotic abilities to take control of a small plastics firm run by the Farrel family, where he organises the production of deadly Auton dolls, chairs and daffodils.

I read several of these Target books as a kid. I mostly liked the 3rd Doctor/UNIT stories like The Auton Invasion, The Cave Monsters, Claws of Axos and The Green Death. One I also liked was The Web of Fear, its London Underground setting being perfect for creepiness. My favourite time to read these books were during my Summer Holidays in Somerset when I could relax from School and feel free to let my imagination just run and run. Such memories!!
