Not too keen on some of the names, but I guess it’s the music that matters:
    Aristotle, We Have Been Hit
We’re Still Going To Kill You
Tell Me, Am I A Good Man?
    What Difference A Good Dalek?
    The Truth About The Daleks
They just seem too long and descriptive, compared to Series 7, where the longest title was
Together or Not at All – The Song of Amy and Rory.

Now that’s interesting, there’s a couple tracks that weren’t on the leaked playlists on Youtube which is understandable but there’s a few tracks that were but not on the official release such as the opening music to Kill the Moon and 1 track in Into the Dalek (Blue Rescue Squad or something)…

Thought I needed to say this but the full theme for series 8 is actually a cut down version where the main theme leads straight into the middle eight and sounds a bit clunky.

While it’s true that the leaked online version is like that, I refuse to believe that it will be presented as such on the CD. My hope is that it’s been edited down so the leak isn’t actually full. On Amazon the Series 8 full theme is available for MP3 purchase, and the runtime is stated to be 2:30. I’m hoping that the full theme ends up being that.

I just refuse to believe that there is such an unprofessional, amateur edit on the real thing.

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      April 22nd, 2015 - 7:41am

That isn’t official anyway. And is quite horrid. Although the soundtrack is now on YouTube, some think it could be an early edit of it. So maybe it won’t be that way.

But either way I really like the theme that has been released early.

I might download a couple of tracks but this one probably isn’t worth buying the entire album for.

If Foxes was on this I’d probably get it as I love her music and loved her version of Don’t Stop Me Now, although I reckon she might put that on her new album as a bonus track.

I remember one track from Listen that sounded (to me) a bit like Once Upon A Dream, that’s a must get. Everything else was fairly missable.

That’s crazy! Foxes volunteered to be on the show, they can surely figure something out. It might still be on there though; I doubt Yamit Mamo’s name came up on the series 3 soundtrack, so they might just not be flashing the name about.

As a composer myself, I have Murray Gold as one of my top 10 composers of all time – possibly No. 3 behind Stravinsky and Scott Joplin.

I loved his earlier music from Series 1-4 as they were all different and inspiring. Series 5 and 6 were a little repetitive at times, but series 7 onwards has been a bit disappointing (apart from the brilliant long song). I didn’t even notice the music in series 8.

I hope Murray Gold does good things for series 9 and fingers crossed.

Haven’t really enjoyed the music this year – nothing really stood out and it was all a little forgetful, the only episodes where music was used well was Mummy on the Orient Express and maybe Death In Heaven. My biggest thing is that it all sounds the same to me now – after 10 years of Murray Gold its become repetitive, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell you how it went if you said a songs name from series 8. I would love to see some different music next year and I’d say the best way is to have Murray collaborating with someone or letting someone else do a whole episode(s). But saying all that I’ve loved some of Murray’s work in the past, if we could just see a little more of that maybe…

      April 18th, 2015 - 7:25am

I’d say the best soundtracks are for series three and seven. With series three’s soundtrack, almost every track is great. With series seven, they’re spread across two discs so I’d be prepared for some more “padding” tracks, especially on disc two. But with This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home in series three and its gut-wrenching remix A Secret He Will Take to His Grave in series seven, you really couldn’t go wrong!
