This is a bit late but I recently bought season12, opened it to discover the season 10 artwork on the discs. Who did you contact for replacement discs and at which department ?
The wrong disc art is really annoying.

I also noticed and was about to comment the link but you beat me to it. They’re all out of stock now sadly but not before I was able to place an order, hopefully it should arrive soon with the correct discs. I just hope that the last remaining boxsets were able to go to fans who missed out rather than scalpers.

I’ve actually been keeping an eye on that one that one for like 2 weeks but apparently nobody noticed as there were still about 15 still in stock all along! So I just decided to tell people, hoping some fans would get it. People should check the other european Amazon stocks more often. I noticed that 26 is still in stock too on Amazon IT and ES.

    Hello,

Has anyone received their copy from Zavvi yet. I’m in Australia and just want to know whats going on. It was supposed to come either on or before the 04/05 after being previously delayed.

    Thanks for any help.

I received this message from Zavvi on Tuesday:

‘We’ve experienced unprecedented order volumes over the past couple of weeks and due to this unexpected increase in orders and the additional safety precautions implemented to protect our employees, delays in despatch times are to be expected.

Please rest assure that our team are working as fast as possible to ensure you receive your parcel as soon as possible. We will provide further communications regarding your order shortly, so please continue to check your emails and your online account for further updates.’

As I’ve been waiting a couple of months rather than weeks, I’m not hopeful. I appreciate the difficulties re the Covid-19 (everyone’s in the same boat) but as others have received theirs from other suppliers, I’m not totally convinced. We’ll see….

Perhaps they just want us to go away….?

Zavvi have now said that ‘Doctor Who – The Collection Season 12 (Limited Edition) has not yet been shipped due to a further delay by our supplier. We expect the item to be shipped on or before the week from 04/05/2020.’

I’m not very confident about this. What is really annoying is why the BBC decided to make these collections limited editions in the first place. Surely they must realise that anything with ‘Doctor Who’ on it will sell by the bucketload? Is it important to them that it’s a limited edition?

I am now worried about the season 14 release. Once again sold out everywhere so if there are any issues with the orders we have placed thats it. No other chance to get it. I ordered mine from zoom. They recently changed warehouses and have been messing up my orders and they have had to reorder items from scratch to replace items not dispatched. This will not be possible with season 14 as it is sold out. I hope it is delayed until all this chaos is over and released in increased volume.

Not strictly a question regarding Season 12, but a question somebody here might be able to answer (Especially Gordon)

I have tried to play the latest Doctor Who Blu-Ray Releases on my Samsung SAMSUNG UBD-M7500 4K player but it Wont play the discs, saying there the discs do not meet the specifications.

I have had this problem playing The David Tennant Specials Blu-Ray Steelbook, The Faceless Ones Blu-Ray & the Doctor Who The Collection Season 23 to name a few.

There is no system update available and was wondering why this only happens when I try to play the latest BBC releases ??? I’ve watched other Blu-Ray Movies on the same player recently and they play with no problems.

If someone could be of assistance I would appreciate it alot, as I might have to ditch the 4K player and buy another one.

Hi , Samsung players are known to be a PITA ,they are very temperamental when it comes to to disc playback. I’ve had 2 Samsung units in the past and they were both fussy with regards to disc playback.

If your 100% sure the software firmware is up to date it’s more than likely either a slightly dirty disc surface or the laser lens has a spec of dust on it.

If your confident with taking it apart just use a cotton bud or similar and give the laser lens a very gentle wipe, this should sort it.

Just received this message from BBC DVD Support.

Thank you for getting in touch with the team once again. Following continued liaison with our retail partners, we have been informed that in this instance replacement boxsets for Doctor Who – The Collection Season 12 will not be sent out from your original retailer.

This is not the communication we were expecting, but we are working with our manufacturers to see what can be done to make sure that you are able to receive the correct discs so you are able to have the complete high quality product you would expect from our Doctor Who Boxsets. The current COVID-19 pandemic is likely to impact the time scale in which we are able to produce the replacement discs but we will be in touch once we have confirmed dates.

We kindly request your receipt of purchase along with your shipping address so we can keep a record of where these replacements should be sent out to when they do become available.

We sincerely apologise for the possible confusion caused whilst working to resolve this issue with our retail partners, and we thank you for your continued patience and support.

    Kind regards,

    BBC DVD Support

Beareight some of us did recieve the corrected discs with the proper picture discs but i do understand the predicament you have had to endure. It was the slight damaged packaging that let the side down in my case but somehow Zoom have sent a message saying a replacement is on its way. I don,t know if or how they will manage that given they are sold out everywhere except Ebay and the like.

    • Gerry

      April 10th, 2020 - 2:54pm

Well that’s a bit of good news. But if they do send replacement discs they will simply be repressing the same 2nd issue discs with the correct artwork. There’s no way their going to re-author a THIRD version of these discs – look at the confusion there’s been so far! 🙂

I spent all of last week chasing my replacements on eChat to be told they are not in stock.

Their CEO office told me that the Beeb never sent enough replacement discs but the Beeb haven’t replied to my latest mail.

I was on eChat on the evening of 2nd and 3rd April for over an hour to be told no replacements but then comments on this forum thread advised people had managed to place orders on the same night/mornings when E chat advised there was no stock.

My issues have never been resolved and I have been checking Amazon for stock over the past week.

For those still miffed about not receiving their season 12 sets and wanting a diversion, perhaps some good news. Big Finish are giving away a free (specific) Doctor Who audio today, and every Monday for the next eight weeks, as part of the lockdown. I just downloaded The War Doctor-The Innocent, which is today’s title. Each free title will be announced on the day. Granted, many die-hards on these boards will have purchased every single download in the back catalogue already, but for those among you haven’t (and don’t wish to go down the route of second mortgages) there may be a chance over the next few weeks, of picking up a few stories you haven’t heard already.
I doubt news will be posted on this site for a while, given the circumstances, so I thought i’d mention it here.
    As you were!

I ordered mine way back in Feb when the release was announced. Nothing received although my order is shown as ‘processing’ with a delivery date of 30th March (!). Zavvi have told me they are waiting for their supplier who will send the item when it’s ‘back in stock’. I think this is hardly likely as it’s a limited edition. However, it seems no-one else has received anything from Zavvi?
It’s frustrating when others have received theirs from Amazon, HMV, Zoom etc and that people are already selling them on e-bay. Did some greedy people bulk buy so they could profit on e-bay. A bit mean. Are we going to miss out?

I’m from New Zealand and like Australia Zavvi are the only option (though Amazon does ship the US versions). I’ve had nothing as of yet.

Amazon used to ship the UK version but annoyingly the NZ govt put a 15% tax on overseas goods and Amazon stopped shipping here. So I’d gotten the sets up to s23 from Amazon, but had to switch to Zavvi starting with s26.

Thing is when I ordered s26 I got a dispatch email a week or so after the release date. So I’m hoping I’ll get an email in the next couple of days 🙂

Does it have the Skystriker fault on updated effect for Revenge and the Michael Wisher misspelling at all?

      The Ergon.

Of course it won’t. They have used the same UK Master Copy as the rest for the 2nd Edition. But at least the discs will have the correct images.

Mines due 14th April so will check again though. My misprinted one didn’t.

Well i checked mine over (small dent on corner of Box aside) that few second effect blip is present and correct on Revenge and Michael Wishers name is spelled correctly. I wasn,t expecting any change there.Picture ‘Liney’ and unfocused in some scenes There were supposedly sound issues with sontaran and something on one of the end credits but i haven,t noticed anything untoward. I wasn,t sure about the master copy but it does get you wanting to check with everything that has happened. Hope you get the corrected discs this time. Funnily enough the DVDs for this season are being snapped up sharpish for season 12 and noticed a rise on some with pricing on Ebay and the like. I prefer the DVDs for this season for the picture quality even without the upscaling and effects. I,m glad i kept them as i have the best of both worlds. From Season 19 Bluray onwards we,ve had very few hiccups and i do enjoy all the new extras. Can,t wait to see the ‘New Rat’ in Talons next month.

I made the decision to sell all my Classic Who DVD’s at the start of the year so can’t compare them now.

I did keep the DVD booklets though. Trimming off “The ….. Years” banner makes them small enough to fit in the Season boxes.

I do wonder if my 4K Bluray player makes the image slightly worse as it upscales them and I don’t have the option to switch it off.

I’m looking forward to Season 14. And hope they announce the next set as originally planned before the pandemic. But I guess it depends if they have recorded a trailer or have a potential release date.

      Hi The Ergon.

Oh, on on my earlier comment I meant “of course it will” for the effect not being fixed. Comment makes sense now. Sorry.

Michael Wishers name was corrected on the replacement discs for the 1st edition if I remember rightly. So will be correct on 2nd edition.

Shame about dent on box. That was my main worry before misprint hell.

Its only a small dent on one corner i can live with. The discs and content were my only priority. If it is Season 20 next i hope they update the effects are updated for ‘The Kings Demons’ to match those of ‘Planet of Fire’.

Managed to reorder the re-release that was put out by Amazon on the 2nd April, so far it’s still showing as delivery on Tuesday 7th April {Fingers Crossed} Strange thing was that when I ordered it said there were only 12 more available but there were more on the way??

FWIW I had no interest in purchasing season 12, since I’m perfectly happy with my trusty dvd versions, but I did purchase season 18 as I had not yet collected any of Tom’s final year. I’m very happy with 18, but I think in future, if i’m tempted to purchase any more in this series (I have my eye on Davison’s 19) I will stick to the US editions. Same content with correct disk art I gather, and none of the attendant problems that seemed to have plagued these UK releases. Plus, there’s always the advantage of sealed plastic-I have concerns as to whether the UK versions can protect the disks from dust and damp, in the long term.
Might I respectfully suggest, to those who never receive their correct orders, that they adopt a similar strategy?. Seems like less aggravation.

Correct but boring same art on each disc for the USA releases.

Cover with the Text over a big proportion of it.

Basic numbering of Seasons based on the number of years for each doctor, ‘Tom Baker Complete Season One rather than ‘Season 12’ for example.

No booklet and Artwork missing as not enough space to include it all on the box.

So for me, they don’t feel like a special purchase.

The USA discs are correct in terms of content as they tend to be released a few months after the UK versions. Oh and some features are missing if not cleared for USA.

That is why I prefer the UK versions and some fans import them from UK too.

I’m considering purchasing the compact US editions for future releases.
Does anyone know how it stands regarding custom duty/VAT etc if importing these sets from US, Canada etc.
      Thanks.

No duty for items below £135. VAT on the price paid for the goods, postage, packaging and insurance and any duty owed.

In the UK, Amazon have joined a coalition of companies, universities, and research institutions to boost testing capacity for COVID-19. Amazon’s logistics network, along with Royal Mail, will deliver COVID-19 test kits to critical workers and diagnostic sites set up around the UK. NHS staff on the frontlines of the pandemic will be among the first to benefit from the increased testing capacity.

I’n sure you will get your disks eventually.
