It’s all happened fairly quickly so I’d imagine that date would take a while to update. I reckon a couple days time it might say 30th. I’ve heard a couple people got theirs from HMV orders but I’ve yet to verify it. I’m happy to wait, providing it’s all correct and I actually get it. Only ‘time’ will tell *taps nose in a Baker-esc fashion*

Zoom have just got back to me through eBay and said that all preorders made through the Zoom eBay shop were fine and shall be delivered at the original date. The “fault” is with a later batch of stock affecting the Zoom website stock. Very interesting…

It’s worth noting that at the beginning of this month, the Zoom ebay store was the only place you could get the S12 boxset for about a day or so before it became available everywhere else.

Just means incorrect Master Copy was used to press discs from. Every Season will have a Master Copy even if sold out.

Wrong one sent to Disc Pressing factory that’s all. Discs probably had correct image file for covers but incorrect media causing human error.

If you have received yours can you confirm if the inside is same as original release. Does the Tardis in the vortex extend beyond the booklet holder to edge of disc trays. Or is it just on the booklet holder like recent Season sets.

Thats awful!? I understand an item being recalled and thats out of their hands but to cancel the pre-order altogether and not honour it for however long it takes for them to rectify the situation and release it is abysmal.

I always try to support bricks and mortar stores rather than online stores, even if it is a few quid more but I think this has changed my outlook. A delay is acceptable but cancelling is totally unacceptable. I know the staff on there and even though it is not their fault they will probably receive the brunt of my angst.

      February 27th, 2020 - 3:19pm

It’s just the instore preorders that have been cancelled.

    • Darren

      February 27th, 2020 - 4:48pm

It’s very disappointing I know, but if there’s no stock to fulfil the order because of the error, that’s not the fault of hmv, it would be the same with an online store in that situation.
Maybe think again before going off on one at staff in a store, it’s not their fault, complain to the BBC, they supply them.

Sold out every place on the planet. Try eBay people are selling this for under £100.
Also season 14 is off of amazon sale.
It’s like jingle all the way here and it’s not Christmas. They gave us a month in between boxsets and are releasing this barley a fortnight before series 12. This was terribly timed. I would have had this out in December. Also I mean I would at least have made 10,000 copies of this due to high demand. These sell out. It’s like river rapids.

I don’t completely get why it’s released now. But I believe the intention was to not replace the release date of any other set. Cause that could lead to some major scheduling issues later on. I don’t see an issue with them releasing it so close to series 12 airing, cause it’s a completely different situation.

As for season 14 going off Amazon, this always happens. Whether they are checking for addition stock, for due to the delay that’s been announced regarding its release date.

And as for the quantity, they were only matching the quantity of the newer sets. So say if season 19 had 10,000 sets made, and 12 only had 2000 sets, then only 8000 new sets would be produced. There is probably only so many they can produce that can be deemed financially viable. An don’t forget, everyone has had sufficient warning about this release. We were told last year it was happening, and it was given a date in January. If you missed out on ordering it, that sucks, but it’s not their fault.

    • Anonymous

      February 27th, 2020 - 8:22am

It is their fault. They released it in between the release of season 26 which was in late January and season 14 which is in early April. Some of us had to scramble to get spare money in that time. Also this coming out a week before series 12 is terrible.

    • Gordon

      February 27th, 2020 - 8:23am

The problem is they were busy working flat out on the season 26 set till early December. There was simply no time to get the reissues out for Christmas. .

    • Gordon

      February 27th, 2020 - 8:49am

It’s 2 weeks after. season 12 is limited edition where series 12 isn’t. If you can’t afford both you prioritise. You have had since October to save for the reissue. Put a quid a day aside and just over a month it’s saved up. The new releases and the classic era releases are run independently of each other by separate teams and people . That’s why you have situations like this. If they waited till after season 14 people would have complained about waiting too long for it

    • Anonymous

      February 27th, 2020 - 1:07pm

One, announcement and release are too very different things. It was announced then rumoured to not be happening then put up for order right before Season 26 officially came out. Had they given say an extra months notice. They could have had more sets made and known of this disc going crazy. Known the demand. Had extra for pre orders and stuff. They need to work on scheduling for these sets. Season 26. This and season 14 all overlapped terribly. Out was about to out, one was up for pre order, one was about to come up for pre order. Spread them out!. These sets are announced months in advance for a reason.

    • Gordon

      February 27th, 2020 - 3:01pm

After the reissue was confirmed it was always going to happen. That rumour was started by those wanting to stir it and wanted to big up the price of the eBay sets. The problem with upping the amount of sets it’s constantly selling out no matter how many sets are made. Scalpers are snapping more and more copies. It was originally meant to have the same number of preorders as other sets but It’s been upped again after it went on preorder. By now It’s probably the season with the highest print run. If it got an extra month it would have been too close to season 14 in terms of manufacturing sets. Having it out in March is perfect as it’s Midway point between sets 26 and 14. Season 26 and 14 didn’t overlap terribly. 3 and a half months is the norm for announcing a set and release and Season 12 didn’t need the 3 and a half months as it was a rerelease. They are spreading them out but season 12 is a special case.

With the larger numbers of these now out there it has driven the market place price down by alot so there’s plenty out there available , if it means that much you missed out why not just pay a few extra quid and get a copy?
I don’t understand with sites like these how

Has anyone’s order from zoom dispatched or does it still say ‘sent to warehouse.?’

Sorry, this is a little off-topic, but I think it bears saying.
I just responded to the complaint of a poster in the audio section, regarding the steep prices for some of the Big Finish range, and I will repeat here what I told him there (provided the moderators don’t object): you can listen to a selection of Doctor Who Big Finish audios, for free, on Spotify. Just type in ‘Doctor Who Big Finish’ in Search, and, voila.
I myself am currently making my way through some of Five’s stories, but I gather there are numerous Doctors represented on the service.
That’s for those of you who didn’t already know.
    Cheers.

I paid with paypal. My order still says queuing today on the 25th feb. Usually should say ‘sent to warehouse’ by now. Does yours still say queuing?

Because of the issues last time this was released it is all very worrying. I did phone zoom and they said there was no issue with my order. All very strange though.

Dvd Blu Ray tidbits from galifrey 1 convention.

    1. During a panel featuring Sarah Sutton a blu ray extra was shown of peter Sarah and Janet traveling to a convention at kessel in Germany for season 20. It was said to be very funny. Sarah also said another road trip to Amsterdam has been pitched and if it gets the go ahead it will be filmed in the summer. (If that goes ahead the blu ray set will probably pushed back till later in the year)

    2. In the blu ray panel it was mentioned that The plan is to get all 26 season sets out with the same logo and if the show logo changes they will fight to keep it the same. No wilderness years news but that technically isn’t a season. They have been filming things for the next 6 sets after s14 though no hints on what those are. Clips from s 26 (remember it’s not out yetin America) and s14. Clips from s14 include our Sarah Jane whose doctor who revisited and an interview with deep Roy.

    3. In the animations panel they said that they now have 2 animation teams to get them out faster. They see no reason why any or every story can’t be animated, but it remains to be seen if they will! The delayed US releases are done to coincide with BBC America screenings, which are a source of funding. The budget for the animation is increasing over time. Faceless Ones will be available in 16:9 and 4:3, color and black and white. The existing episodes will *also* now be animated if you want a consistent version to watch. That’s the new policy. Fury is animated in colour then graded in black and white when it’s finished as it’s easier to do that way and doesn’t cost any extra to do make both versions. Price in Fury from the Deep is mostly filmed sitting down because the actor had limited mobility, so Gary Russell made the choice to put him in a wheelchair. Paul Condon (a fan who sadly passed away recently) has been modeled in Fury From the Deep as the episode 5 and 6 helicopter pilot in tribute. It was a favorite story of his. International Electromatics logos are included in the Fury animation on speakers. Gary couldn’t resist! He also added establishing shots of the rig that didn’t exist in the original. He says he loves that you can expand stuff on the 60s stories with animation. Clips from the faceless ones was shown and fury had animation models shown and the scene with the sonic screwdriver from episode 1 was also shown.

Gordon, do you know if any other series might get re-released? I missed out on Season 10 sadly, and 130 bucks on Amazon is a lot of money.

I wonder how many have been bought up by scalpers hoping to make a quick buck on eBay? There are already some offering them on pre-order for way over the retails price. Some might say that’s ‘market forces’ but I think it’s sad when it’s at the expense of genuine fans.

Gutted I missed this the first time around, and even more gutted to see it has sold out, except for HMV, where I have managed to pre-order. Phew!!

Lis was a dear friend of mine, and I know she would have loved this set.

When I was very young back in the 70’s, I won the LP of Genesis from the Doctor Who Comic. Still have it, and I still have the comic with my name in it. Proud moment.

I am so chuffed this will be 100 percent the same as the first release as there were grumblings from original copy owners that the re release should be different to differentiate between the two.so it will be as the first was except no faulty discs. Ordered mine and am happy as a pig in s**t.

Hello! I have ordered this boxset from Zavvi for the first time, since normally I use Zoom (who are excellent with these sets) but they’ve sold out. I’ve heard that sometimes the packaging can get damaged and ruined when ordering with Zavvi and have noticed that this box set is on for sale online with HMV too. Is it worth cancelling my Zavvi order and ordering with HMV? Or should I keep my order with Zavvi, and will the quality of the product I receive be okay do you think? Thank you!!

I wouldn’t worry too much ,whoever you order from there’s a risk of damage in transit. My previous orders whether from zoom, Amazon or HMV have all been in the same style of cardboard packaging so the risk is the same with all those suppliers and I’ve never had any damage, I’ve not had any experience of zavvi lately but never had any damage a few years ago.

It’s drifting in and out of stock.
This happens when they are getting low on stock, and need to perform regular stock takes to insure they are not selling something they don’t have.
Rule of thumb for the future… when you see an item on Amazon that starts to drift in and out of stock, it means that they are on the verge of running out.
So get in quick when this happens, as it won’t be there much longer.

Why are these sets selling out so quickly? Are some people buying up all the stock to sell on eBay later at vastly inflated prices or something or are these sets so limited that they are only pressing a thousand or so of these things? I begrudge paying to pay £150 for season 19 or 10 or 18. Even the new season 26 has just about sold out and it has only been out on release a couple of weeks. So annoying.

Season 26 is number 3 in the sales chart, the other boxsets also made the Top 3 too.

      February 9th, 2020 - 1:14pm

Think it’s a variety of reasons

      1. They are limited edition. Being non limited would eat away at their profits of the sets as unbought copies would be lying in warehouses and shops which may turn a profit to a loss as the actual box sets aren’t cheap to produce

      2. They are extremely popular.

      3. People are looking to scalp off eBay

Cex have 19 10 and 18 at £65 each. Not as cheap as £40 but not as bad as eBay prices

    • SamWho

      February 10th, 2020 - 7:54am

I think people underestimate how popular these are lots of people who want them and we all know they sell out so we know to get in quickly and I really don’t think loads are being bought by people to sell on eBay maybe a couple but not as many as people seem to think
