August 12th, 2024 - 3:30pmI’ve now watched the first five discs (it arrived Saturday) and I have loved it. I wasn’t convinced by the first few episodes on broadcast but then I enjoyed the series as it went on but watching them all again I loved it. There are some interesting points made in the commentaries and extras as well. Just the 8 unleashed episodes and tales of the TARDIS to go.

August 12th, 2024 - 1:07pmMy Steelbook came this morning in a Brown Paper Envelope (No Padding even). I wish they would always send these Steelbooks in Cardboard Sleeves, since they cost so much.

August 10th, 2024 - 10:47amMine arrived from Amazon today. Very surprised as it’s still showing due for Monday.
It’s lovely. Picture quality is sharp and the colours pop. The show looks so much better than on iPlayer.
Bookcollector
August 10th, 2024 - 11:14amMine is due today as well. Did you see my comment on the rogue paperback mjs? About it being faulted and you should be able to return it for a new copy. my own copy is perfect as are the copies of several friends I have asked since I saw your comment

August 10th, 2024 - 7:48pmHi Bookcollector. I have seen your reply thanks. Its not unbearable on the book. It’s really noticeable flicking the pages. You can see the border move in and out and then start going slanted! I think I can live with it.
Bookcollector
August 10th, 2024 - 9:17pmThat’s good.

August 9th, 2024 - 7:08pmMine arrived this morning from Zavvi. I usually preorder from Amazon but they stopped sending – me, at least – releases early a long time ago and Season 15 arrived a day late so I can live with Zavvi’s delivery charge.

August 3rd, 2024 - 1:01pmFor people complaining about the price of £59.99 please remember that the retail for this is £89.99 which is what it is being sold for by some shops (galaxy 4 reduced to £69.99, speedyhen etc.) The average film release for bluray is £14.99-17.99 for a single release so 7 discs for £59.99 is still good value.

August 3rd, 2024 - 7:41pmPlus rare waves have now sold out so seems this is selling better then first being announced as always steelbooks do sell out eventually

August 7th, 2024 - 11:22amMy steel and bluray have just arrived, despite being told of delays, just waiting on dvd now, and will view the lot over the weekend. And no, im not going to spoil it on others.
You will all just have to wait and find out.

July 10th, 2024 - 4:35pmYes, A Gorgeous cover indeed. Just browsing Ebay today and a Guy is selling these. (He as about 10 in stock). I thought I’m sure it’s not out yet so I checked my Amazon account and sure enough it’s not out while next month. I thought they must be Pre-Orders so I checked his site on Ebay again and there’s no mention of Pre-Orders, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.

July 10th, 2024 - 4:43pmWill it be a Pirate booboo. Just double checked and he’s definitely selling them as in stock.
It’s the DVD Version and he’s selling from Miami, Florida, America.

July 10th, 2024 - 5:03pmI think it’s just a way off buying lots off stock from Amazon or hmv on preorder then sending them too people who buy them I did see myself on eBay other day a seller listed season 25 already up for bidding auction
Snowman
July 10th, 2024 - 5:03pmLet me know booboo if that’s the correct link. ebay.co.uk/itm/364998805929? (I’m not good with links)

July 10th, 2024 - 5:12pmlooks very suspect to me
Snowman
July 10th, 2024 - 5:20pmYes, I agree. The more I look at the listing the more I think there Pirate Copy’s. Converting Dollars to GBP he’s only selling them for around 20 pounds. That’s way too cheap for a complete Season

June 28th, 2024 - 8:49amGorgeous, Lee Binding knocks it out of the park yet again.

June 27th, 2024 - 7:14pmLargest type of standard steelbook is a stacker case but it’s only designed to hold 6 discs, 3 either side. I’m wondering what’s gonna happen with the extra disc, hope they’re not just gonna force it in.

June 27th, 2024 - 10:40pmYou can see the inside of the steelbook on Amazon.

June 27th, 2024 - 3:47pmMany thanks Gordon.
Looking forward to getting the season and rewatching some of the episodes.
Quite a nice selection of extras. Will probably get the standard blu-ray

June 27th, 2024 - 4:21pmReally looking forward to watching these episodes again. Nice that the tales of the tardis is included.

July 17th, 2024 - 1:08pmThanks for this really helpful breakdown Gordon. Do you know if all the special features on the individual release of Church on Ruby Road are also on this set? I haven’t brought the individual release purely because I was waiting to see if it will be included here, but wondering if there’s anything that’s been left as exclusive to that release?
Tom Williams
June 13th, 2024 - 11:57pmPreordered this on hmv recent but dk when they take payment for it as I more a person who likes too pay first too secure a copy is rare wave worth buying from ?
Rex F
June 14th, 2024 - 2:41amAssuming you mean Rarewaves, they also charge on dispatch. It’s all in the relevant T&C/FAQ sections of the two retailers, as are the slightly different rules for PayPal. You really should be reading this stuff before you order anywhere, and immediate charge for a preorder doesn’t always guarantee a copy anyway.
Tom Williams
June 14th, 2024 - 1:43pmNo true as I pay for iteams on preorder up front so can happen with certain websites esp if u do it on eBay the most now days but I’m more waiting for the artwork look first too preorder proper
Rex F
June 15th, 2024 - 12:39amI hope you enjoy your set.

June 15th, 2024 - 1:00amOhh I will thanks especially getting the discount and saved money

May 20th, 2024 - 3:50pmWhy never available on 4k UHD plus 60 th anniversary come on RTD crazy

May 8th, 2024 - 2:56pmOrdered mine with Amazon, can’t wait!
Alanoffthefence
May 6th, 2024 - 8:34pmJudging by the lack of comments / interest and given the asking price of this l just don’t see it selling out, there’s every chance it will be on a discount by the time Black Friday arrives.
I would imagine a re-release of 1, 2 or 9 would sell out faster, Marvel are doing well at eroding their loyal fan base and l really hope the Beeb don’t do the same with Who.
daz
May 6th, 2024 - 11:00pmIt’s sold over 1 thousand on Amazon already so it will sell out. The steelbooks always do. People will be waiting to see some of the episodes no doubt.
As for the price. It isn’t really expensive as it is 9 episodes. The 60th steelbook was £30 for just 3 episodes back in December and that sold out.
Ju
May 7th, 2024 - 11:13amThe figures for steelbook sales on this are much higher than the standard Bluray and DVDs already.
Alanoffthefence
November 24th, 2024 - 6:16pmBlack Friday discount then! It doesn’t help the franchise but l hardly needed a Tardis to see what would happen in the future, just a little common sense.
HS
May 6th, 2024 - 9:51amFor anyone wondering, it does include The Church On Ruby Road.
D84
May 6th, 2024 - 9:50pmGreat thanks for the confirmation
Anon
May 8th, 2024 - 2:55amThere is confusion over this. Amazon say yes, other retailers say no it’s not on. The run time seems to contradict the inclusion of church. We know episode one is 55 mins assuming the other 7 are 45 mins that makes 6hrs 10 mins.

May 1st, 2024 - 4:51pmI had a hunch/fear the BBC would stop physical releases.
So happy to be wrong

May 7th, 2024 - 2:59pmWhy would they as BBC Studios biggest selling is DrWho dvd/blurays
Also they are just over half way on The Collection on bluray
AlbertoFrog
April 30th, 2024 - 8:55pmIt has apparently been confirmed, in reply to someone who emailed the BBC, that Ruby Road will be in the Series 1 set.
Summer Harlequin
April 28th, 2024 - 11:52amThere are 8 episodes and only 6 hours and 10 minutes of content does not make sense
Gordon
April 28th, 2024 - 1:17pmThat’s an average of 46 minutes per episode. That run time won’t include extras as it’s the main feature running time
Anon
April 28th, 2024 - 3:59pmI don’t know why people are finding this hard to get. Run times on DVDs never include extras. Just go and look at your shelves and you will see that. A two hour movie with three hours of extras has a runtime listed of two hours.
The 60th anniversary set has a runtime of 171 minutes or in other words, the episodes, the extras are not listed as part of that runtime. The season episodes must have dropped from Jodie’s longer episode lengths back to the average of 46 mins they had originally when the show came back.
beef
April 26th, 2024 - 4:58amIf it doesn’t include the Church then I’m not going to bother since it’s not really a complete set, and getting a whole blu ray just for one special isn’t my thing
D84
April 26th, 2024 - 2:16pmI am in the same boat – expecting Church to be included on this, and if its not – I wont bother.
I’ll wait until a full set comes out with Church + main series
Gordon
April 26th, 2024 - 3:06pmGoing by the runtime listed on Amazon I suspect it won’t be included
Judooning
April 25th, 2024 - 9:57pmInstant order. Not risking missing out
Harold Shand
April 25th, 2024 - 6:56pmThis may be a question that has been answered elsewhere, but why is it Season 1?
Anon
April 25th, 2024 - 8:44pmNew production company so they must have decided on starting again. Seems daft though.
daz
April 25th, 2024 - 10:29pmAs per iplayer. Classic Who is 1963-1996. Modern Who is 2005 to 2022. New Who is 2023 onwards.
Disney+ only has 2023 onwards so could be potentially daunting for a new viewer seeing Series 14 listed and thinking they are 13 series behind which are not available on the same platform.
Makes sense to reset to Season 1. Fresh start as the 60th Specials were a soft launch. And a new fan can delve into the shows history if they want to once they are hopefully invested in the new show.
Either way it is all Doctor Who no matter what you call it. Some classic fans say it is Season 40 for example.
Harold Shand
April 26th, 2024 - 11:08amI can see the disney thing, so I guess it makes sense.
Though New Who is now Modern Who………to make way for the ‘new’ New Who.
I like the way old shows are now called ‘Classic’, so I may adopt that to describe myself.
Tell the kids I am not OLD, i am CLASSIC.
Ryan Hennessy-Saunders
April 25th, 2024 - 5:42pmHopefully this will include The Church On Ruby Road
MJS
April 25th, 2024 - 5:11pmPrice generally drops upon release
daz
April 25th, 2024 - 2:48pmMust be today’s announcement. And yes £60 seems a lot but it is the steelbook which usual adds a tenner to the price.
The 60th Specials last year was £30 for just 3 episodes though so not too bad really, maybe.
D84
April 25th, 2024 - 2:56pmYea no collection announcement today then as this is out
Maybe next week, fingers crossed
