Doctor Who Magazine Special 63 Showrunners

Doctor Who’s 60-year journey was launched by producer Verity Lambert; the series, in turn, served as the springboard for her own remarkable career. Since then, a further 12 producers have accepted the unique challenge of steering one of the most demanding programmes on television.

The latest Special Edition of Doctor Who Magazine examines what each of these people brought to the role and gains exclusive new insights from their colleagues.

Highlights include exclusive interviews with Sheena Bucktowonsing, Shirley Cooklin, Janet Fielding, Julie Gardner, Frazer Hines, Waris Hussein, Matthew Jacobs, Louise Jameson, John Leeson, Katy Manning and Marcus Wilson.

DWM Special Edition 63: Showrunners is on sale from Thursday 16 March at WH Smith, selected supermarkets and online from www.panini.co.uk priced £8.99. A digital edition is also available, priced £7.99 from www.pocketmags.com

Michael it is not exploitative it is the rise in costs. We are in the middle of a cost of living crisis. That means all companies have increased costs including panini. It costs money to write, print and distribute a magazine. An increase in price is the only viable answer. Unless you would prefer less pages? No colour photography? Or digital only? We cannot expect merchandise to remain at the same prices when everything else is going up. We have to be realistic.

      Paper costs more these days.

But it is cheaper to subscribe.

I tend to just have a quick read while in the supermarket. This might change once Who is back on the TV as no doubt RTD will give them loads of content then.

It’s quite refreshing not to have any mention of Davies, Chibnall or Moffat on the cover.

Or any of the show runners, bizarrely.

Picked this up today, nicely presented as usual. Interesting photo of Peter Bryant in the Who office standing by a wall of telesnaps (would have made everyone go crazy if it hadn’t been seen back in the day). Price increase was a shock though…

We only get post about 3 times a fortnight at the moment so the chances of getting this before the end of March is in the balance…

I’m guessing Clayton Hickman wasn’t available.

Headlined by the uber-famous, and spell check troubling, Sheena Bucktowonsing.

    No, me neither.

Is that an anagram of Anthony Ainley?

I think it’s a brilliant name. I’ll never lose a game of Scrabble again.

I’m still pretty sure you can make it spell something like ‘Anthony Ainley with a false nose and a wig on’.

Time and tomorrow’s post will tell.
