IT’S 10 YEARS SINCE DOCTOR WHO RETURNED TO TELEVISION – AND DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE CELEBRATES WITH FOUR VERY SPECIAL COVERS FOR ISSUE 485!
Ten years after the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) grabbed the arm of Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and told her to “Run!”, Doctor Who is still going strong, as one of the greatest TV success stories of the past decade. Doctor Who Magazine celebrates this milestone with a special commemorative issue that comes with four different covers, each one featuring one of the twenty-first century Doctors – Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi!
Inside the issue, we look back on the show’s success, with contributions from writers Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Robert Shearman, Paul Cornell, Toby Whithouse, Gareth Roberts, Chris Chibnall, Peter Harness and Jamie Mathieson, as well as from BBC Head of Drama Commissioning Ben Stephenson, who gives his view on the future of Doctor Who…
ALSO INSIDE ISSUE 485 OF DWM…
Russell T Davies, the writer of the landmark first episode, Rose, and many other episodes since, looks back on his first Doctor Who script, and shares brand new information about bringing the Doctor back to our screens.
DWM tracks down a guest star from each and every one of the ten Ninth Doctor adventures, including Camille Coduri (Jackie Tyler), Yasmin Bannerman (Jabe the Tree), Alan David (Gabriel Sneed), Alan Ruscoe (the Slitheen and other creatures), Barnaby Edwards (the Dalek), Bruno Langley (Adam Mitchell), Shaun Dingwall (Pete Tyler), Florence Hoath (Nancy), Annette Badland (Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer Day Slitheen) and Jo Joyner (Lynda ‘with a Y’ Moss).
Doctor Who‘s first director of the modern era, Keith Boak, is interviewed, looking back on the making of Rose, Aliens of London and World War Three.
Doctor Who‘s first ever director, Waris Hussein, concludes his look back over the epic lost adventure from 1964, Marco Polo.
DWM pays tribute to 1980s director Fiona Cumming, who passed away earlier in the year.
The Doctor and Clara visit Antarctica in Part One of Blood and Ice, a brand-new comic strip written by Jacqueline Rayner and illustrated by Martin Geraghty.
Steven Moffat answer readers’ questions – and speculates about Osgood’s family connections!
Jacqueline Rayner reflects on what life would have been like if Doctor Who had never returned in Relative Dimensions.
The DWM Review assesses the very latest Doctor Who audio and book releases.
The Watcher reveals the connection between Doctor Who and Dr Carl Sagan, in the latest Wotcha!

ZygonTerror
March 27th, 2015 - 11:40pmHe was my first Doctor so it has to be Christopher Eccleston.
VespiformsSting
March 27th, 2015 - 5:49pmWhat very unflattering photos….they have to be bad when Smith is the most handsome looking of the four……
Lifefoot
March 27th, 2015 - 5:15pmI’ll be happy with any cover, it’s all about the content really. I am a tad disappointed that there isn’t a War Doctor cover. I sort of get DWM’s logic, but regardless of incarnation placement and how you look at it, he is a brand new Doctor created in the past ten years.
The Doctor and Handles
March 27th, 2015 - 5:38pmI kind of agree with you.
Funko pop crazy Ross
March 28th, 2015 - 4:49pmI definitely agree with you, however some other people on the doctor who site such as the werewolf disagree. Its all a matter of opinions I suppose.
the astronaut of death
March 26th, 2015 - 8:39pmIt feels right to get the 9th doctor one as it is the 10th anniversary of his season but I don’t get to decide as I have it ordered in for me . so I hope I will be lucky .
CJ
March 26th, 2015 - 7:39pmI hope to get the Ninth Doctor or the Twelfth
timelord63
March 26th, 2015 - 5:29pmThey should of published this issue today, a week early on the actual anniversary
the astronaut of death
March 26th, 2015 - 5:49pmyeah they should have .

March 26th, 2015 - 6:37pmIts against company policy to publish items early
koloth
March 26th, 2015 - 5:21pmOn second look its actually the metacrisis Doctor, so maybe not.
The Twelfth Doctor
March 26th, 2015 - 5:40pmNope, it’s not. It’s an image of the Tenth Doctor in his blue suit from the Series 3 episode ’42’.
Sam Richard Bentley
March 26th, 2015 - 5:42pmIt’s not – he is wearing a red shirt, whereas Meta-Crisis only wore the blue suit and a red t-shirt. Similar costume, except with an added shirt – I think it’s from Midnight. Could be wrong though…
Sam Richard Bentley
March 26th, 2015 - 5:43pmOh, 42 – yes, yes that’s right.
koloth
March 26th, 2015 - 5:17pmI want Ten.

Massive 12 fan
March 26th, 2015 - 4:37pmI want the 12 I know Chris started it all but 12 is my Doctor.
Trenzalore
March 26th, 2015 - 3:41pmGod, I HATE multiple covers. I can never relax until I have them all, it just feels incomplete if I only get one of two. I’ll definitely get Matt’s and Chris. Some exciting features that I look forward to reading. still need to try and get last issue though 😕
DOCTOR WHO ONE
March 26th, 2015 - 3:36pmDefinatly should get the 9th Doctor cover. Only seems right too, since he was the new Doctor 10 years ago . . . . even if the 10th Doctor ended 2005 with his brief appearance in ‘The Parting of the Ways’, then a little scene for Children in Need and Christmas 2005’s The Christmas Invasion.
Desamo
March 26th, 2015 - 3:16pmGreat covers.
Sam Richard Bentley
March 26th, 2015 - 3:07pmI not sure which I’ll get – either Chris or Matt. Definitely won’t be getting David though! I can promise you that.
Interesting how they used a image of Matt from The Snowmen, rather than one of his regular costumes.
Oliver Crabtree
March 29th, 2015 - 8:01amMay I ask where you got that image from for your profile picture?
danpaxto
April 2nd, 2015 - 4:19amHey Sam, am I able to ask the same question about your previous profile image? The one with Capaldi and Clara in front of an ‘exploding’ console? I saw the link posted here the other day but didn’t have the chance to follow it…
the astronaut of death
March 26th, 2015 - 1:13pmI want the ninth doctor one
Doyouhearthem
March 26th, 2015 - 1:07pmThe last survivor of a war that left the universe in ruin is confronted by it’s victims, and his dreadful past refuses to let him forget how the war ended…

When The Doctor Was Me
March 26th, 2015 - 11:03amI wonder what cover i will get as a subscriber! I hope Tennant as that was when i really got into the show! But if I get any of the others its not the end of the world! (Pun intended)
