That’s the point of River though. Can’t we just finish off the current series mysteries before creating new ones.

If she was born to kill the doctor she wouldnt of stopped dr simeon from killing him all those times , she would of just left him to kill him

I’ve come up with a regeneration but for only this one could probably suit it. it goes stick with the fire effect but something goes wrong , electricity starts coming out of it when it has finished the doctor ends up like the master in his second incarnation , all messed up

It is a good figure, and looks great with the original 2006 version of the new series Cybermen as figures.

Mines never broke thou, it’s quite a well made figure.

You’re not the only one, I can’t wait to see what story they have given the Doctor and Clara. That’s the beauty of DWM. You get no spoilers in the comic story section. No forenotes, you can turn the page and be blown away.

    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      June 24th, 2013 - 4:50pm

Considering it’s taken half of 2013 to publish ‘Hunters of the burning Stone’ one part after another, I imagine we may only have 1 or 2 comic-strip stories in Doctor Who Magazine featuring the 11th Doctor and Clara before the makers of the magazine’s comic-strip’s have to make changes when we enter the new era of the 12th Doctor and Clara.

It would be interesting, yes. But I reckon they’ll make it like Eccleston’s and Tennant’s so the viewers that watch less regularly that have only watched nuwho know what is happening.

i wish they didnt make a big deal about regeneration. it was most effective when jon changed into tom. just fade out matt and fade in the new face.

no orange spray jst a simple change

Dead simple, yeah, that sound’s interesting, you’ve got no imagination.

    • the astronaut of death

      June 24th, 2013 - 5:48pm

yeah don’t go back to simple regeneration those were the days where they has barley any good special effects there is so much they could do with regeneration now

      don’t be boring

    • Anonymous

      June 25th, 2013 - 7:18pm

So avoid being boring by doing exactly the same thing again? Create a new effect, maybe a more subtle one, without the whole arms spread out, flame rubbish we’ve been getting. There have been some good effects back in the original run, they really should get a bit more imagination than repeating the same effect again (so that takes out simple fade as well),

If they didn’t change the regeneration effect, it would jar horribly with the new TARDIS. Imagine it… Bluey green room… Orange flames? If nothing, at least change the colour.

I have to agree with that! It would look to weird. I think it should be purple-blue but it shouldn’t spray out of his hands wildly. It would be cool if it looked as if his hands and head caught fire but not ACTUALLY caught fire, if you know what I mean…. 😐

Booboo, is there any chance of having a new poll alongside this; ‘Should they change the style of the regeneration for Matt’s exit?’

    □ Yes – the flames have been over used now. Have it more like the classic series!
    □ No – keep it how it is! It looks just fine!
    □ I don’t mind – as long as it looks good and works I am happy!

Obviously, if this isn’t possible that’s okay. What do you think booboo? Should they change it?

  • Matt Smithy

    June 23rd, 2013 - 9:00pm

NO! Keep the regeneration the same, don’t listen to everyone else. I know it changed in the old series every time, but were they REALLY the best regenerations? Just keep it the same, new viewers will understand it then. Plus its not THAT bad, in fact it’s pretty good.

      June 24th, 2013 - 6:59am

The Tenth Planet, The War Games, Planet of the Spiders, Logopolis, The Caves of Androzani… These are the best regeneration stories. And the effects used in the Tenth Planet and Logopolis really are wonderful. Change is the best thing for a show, and I think the regeneration effect has worn off. It sort of stops it being so exciting, knowing how the regeneration takes place.

    • Matt Smithy

      June 24th, 2013 - 7:35am

true, and I am not saying I would be HORRIBLE if it changed, just as long as it isn’t like the classics. True they were good….for the time. I could pull of the EXACT William Hartnell regeneration if not better from home, same with Jon Pertwee. Today, a simple fade effect or colour change on the face would not be interesting or good enough. I don’t disagree though. They are some of the best storys. I just think regeneration should stay up to date with what’s good now. If they wanted they could do a small change, but imagine just seeing a fade.

    • The TARDIS

      June 24th, 2013 - 8:09am

I have to agree, the Pertwee regeneration effect was a bit lame… But The Tenth Planet’s regeneration is beautiful in its simplicity. No, it wouldn’t work today though.

    • MasterKasterborous

      June 24th, 2013 - 8:45am

But what about the effects in The Caves of Androzani. That looks brilliant!

  • jaketorwho

    June 23rd, 2013 - 8:50pm

Love this cover! A lot people want a new type of regeneration, but i love the fire like explosion. I mean look at 10’s regeneation. The part when he looks at his hand and it glows a bright orange and yellows. The colours of a dawn, a new rise, a new day. And the part when his last line is said really gets me going, knowing that in a few short seconds he will become someone new. A burst of energy and then boom, we have a new doctor. I LOVE IT! Please dont change it! Emotional and big and vibrant all in one, in my eyes PERFECTION!

I agree. The current regeneration effect looks very impressive and it makes more sense for it to remain consistent, especially since we’ve seen it with the Master and River. I wouldn’t mind a change, but I’d prefer for it to stay the same. A minor change could work, like with the Master’s.

It is an article detailing all 67 actors who have played the role, not just the main eleven (or twelve depending on how you look at John Hurt).

So that will be your Peter Cushings, Richard E Grants, Rowan Atkinsons and all that lot.

I really hope Matt goes out a different way, as in no flames. I want either an old-skool type regeneration or something new! Maybe something that pays homage to the first regeneration, as it is the 50th year.

I agree – in the classic series the regeneration changed every time, I don’t see why it should be bound to the same format now. I’d love a different type of regeneration, even if it were just a different colour. I think the flames would look really cool in blue…
