Doctor Who Magazine Issue 444

106 episodes from the black-and-white years of Doctor Who are missing from the BBC’s Archives; the original tapes long since wiped.

However, film copies were made and sold all over the world in the 1960s and 70s.

Where did these episodes go – and, more importantly, could they still exist somewhere today?

DWM 444 presents the ultimate guide to which episodes were sold, where and when – and the chances of their survival. The answers might surprise you…

Oh, I’m so lucky that eason’s don’t sell the latest issue until after release date; I got this one the 7th March, that’s the day issue 445 comes out.

So relieved to find they still had this one, I also bought the 11th Doctor companion volume 4.

Hope volume 5 is Blue, we’ve had pinkish purplish vortex in the background, then it was emerald green, then it was orangey red, then it was bright green, next it should be dark blue ! 😀 You know what I mean.

      That’s why I don’t think I’ll ever subscribe.

I wouldn’t get to choose which cover I want, and I prefer to have my issue just WHENEVER I want it.

      You should write to them.

You can’t choose when you get it. It comes to you the day before or after it’s out in shops.

I have seen “Lost in Time” the clips I mean, but the film bits aren’t on the DVD or the DVD’s easter eggs.

      March 2nd, 2012 - 5:25pm

how do you mean, you have film clips that are not on the DVD’s?

what are they of and where are they from?

    • seesaw

      March 2nd, 2012 - 5:49pm

booboo, I mean the film clips on Lost in Time are not the film clips that I have found.

The film can’s label says “Doctor Who: The Macra Terror”, “Doctor Who: The Evil of The Daleks” and “Doctor Who: The Moonbase”.

I don’t know where they came from, but I was clearing my Great-Grandad’s BBC suitcase, and I found these film reels/cans of whatever. But not 100% on where he got them.

you do release what a serious matter new footage of these episodes are?

There have been numerous hoaxes and false alarms which dont go down very well

if you genuinely have them can you take a picture of the tins/reels and send them to me then?

This is off subject, but you sure love changing your name, Bow tie of Doom! I’m the same. I was first StetsonsAreCool, then Dalek Supreme, Commander Kaagh (for a week), King of the Sontarans (a week and a half) and now King of the Cybermen. Lol I might change it soon to King of the Veil (from SJA)!

“On their planet, “Doctor” translated as “Jeweller”- Jeweller to the stars they named me. I like that. So much less aggressive than “the Oncoming Storm” or “Destroyer Of Worlds” or “Bow tie of Doom”. No one has ever really called me that, by the way. Bow ties are never doom-y. Well, rarely.”

Brilliant cover. I’m wondering…….if for the 50th anniversary next year whether Dr Who magazine will have a cover for each Doctor (eg< Hartnell in January, Troughton in Feb, etc through to Smith in November and a special all Doctors cover for Dec)
