Cuusoo Doctor Who Lego Sets – More Designs Roll In

Doctor Who Lego Sets – The Designs Roll In

An update on Lego’s Cuusoo design site suggests that Doctor Who Lego sets are now possible.

You can send in designs for Lego sets and if it receives 10,000 votes or more there is possibility it will be considered for release under the Lego brand.

Doctor Who has always been rejected in the past due to licensing issues – until now

We do not know why this has happened and what this means for Character building. Character currently hold the master toy licence for Doctor Who products.

Click Doctor Who lego Designs to see the entries so far.

License Conflicts and Resolutions

Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties. We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren’t able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can’t secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party.

If such a conflict goes away, we’ll then be able to accept projects based on a particular brand or license.
The Fine Print:

If your project was previously turned down, archived, or deleted due to a licensing conflict that is now resolved, you may re-submit it as a new project. Supporters from past projects cannot be applied to a future project.
Resolved Past Licensing Conflicts

We now welcome projects based on the following licenses that used to have conflicts:

There will be a lot of people right now taking their time and putting together some wonderful ideas which takes time

I’m sure we will see some terrific stuff in the future, just keep looking, if we get any that looks like they will get to the 10,000 we will do much bigger feature on them

Likely candidates may only get to 10,000 votes if they are given a big push by sites

It is 10,000 votes on one particular entry.

      March 2nd, 2014 - 12:50pm

yes, also you have to keep an eye on entries as they keep adapting them, the one with the most votes is looking very different form when 1st featured

It’s got to get to 10,000 votes first. Then Lego will review the product and make a decision on whether they want to make it or not.

Everyone will be happy that’s what will happen….well it would be to me….every CB set I bought broke as soon as I finished building it due to the craftsmanship of the bricks produced Lego is far more reliable.

    • BRick

      March 2nd, 2014 - 10:25am

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. In my view, the quality of CB bricks was first rate, just sometimes the design of the playset was fragile. At nearly 100 figures, CB has given us an already extensive collection of figures/characters, loads of great army building options and customisable variations. Far more than I would expect from another brick company, including Lego. I hope CB does continue for many years to come, starting with a fantastic looking Series 4, and a much wanted 12th Doctor.

Maybe CB & lego could work together ? same way Lucas films and Lego do.

I hope its not just a PR stunt

      DrWho lego would be great.

Why would we want sets and figures that look like 80s computer graphics? CB is far better than Lego.

CB better than Lego? 80s computer graphics? I have to respectfully disagree. Lego is so much more iconic and higher quality, and is far better than CB. CB is of course the best Lego clone out there, but Lego Doctor Who would be better quality and more fun to play with.

Hmmmm… It’s funny how in 2012 Lego said that Doctor Who is “not child appropriate”. and now in 2014 they’ve changed their minds. Don’t get me wrong though, lego and DW are (and always have been) 2 of my favourite shows, I just think that I wouldn’t want CB to stop because lego had their chance and they didn’t take it

The trouble with Lego is that they are REALLY GOOD at vechiles, and kind of ‘small parts put together to make a little landscape’ sets, which don’t appeal to either me of frankly Doctor Who.

MAYBE a mini figure range would be quite nice, but just a one off. I seriously think we’re better off with CB, to avoid repetition and to keep continuity.

I think any construction range would find it hard to make a ‘big playlset’ type that CB have attempted for (e.g. TARDIS interior, Dalek Factory etc..)

I think that a/the problem is there isn’t really anything they can do other than the TARDIS, which is probably why LEGO never took the license, therefore this set will be the only set LEGO make (or one of the only).

Anyway, I will get this, I love LEGO’s!

They said that about Minecraft sets and they’ve made more. Lego examines the sales and then considers making it a theme full time.
