Doctor Who Constable Zreeg and Sergeant Zogroth Set

Available to order from www.character-online.com

Character Options gives Doctor Who fans yet more to celebrate with its new Wrarth Warrior Twin Set Exclusive

Fans marked Doctor Who Day on 23rd November, but celebrations will continue this week with the release of the final ‘Vortex’ set for 2025, from Character Options and BBC Studios. The Wrarth Warriors Constable Zreeg & Sergeant Zogroth will be making their debut as part of an online exclusive set that’s available to purchase today, 25th November 2025, solely through www.character-online.com.

The Wrarth Warrior Set

This “Vortex” set includes Wrarth Warrior figures of the two most identifiable Wrarth, Constable Zreeg and Sergeant Zogroth. Standing at 18.6cm tall, The Wrarth are around 50mm taller than the standard Doctor Who action figures. Each imposing Wrarth has multiple articulation points, a display stand, detachable blaster weapon accessory and ‘light pipe’ eyes. The two characters are distinguished by unique paint detailing and their individualised carapace front.

With an armoured exoskeleton, astounding visual capabilities and a keen intelligence, the Wrarth are a biologically engineered species created by the Star Council as part of an intergalactic Police Force to hunt The Meep. This species originated from the 1980 Doctor Who Comic, as characters from ‘The Star Beast’ story written by Pat Mills and John Wagner and drawn by Dave Gibbons. The Wrarth are the quintessential Doctor Who ‘bug-eyed monster’ with the clever twist – that they are totally benevolent.

About the episode – The Star Beast (2023)

The Fourteenth Doctor suspects his fate has been tampered with. He lands the TARDIS in London and bumps into former companion Donna Noble and her daughter Rose. After witnessing a spaceship appear to crash nearby, The Doctor investigates and finds the ship landed intact, UNIT troops acting strangely, and an escape pod occupant traced to Donna’s home. There, Rose meets a seemingly innocent harmless alien called the Meep, who claims to be fleeing “monsters.” Soon after, Wrarth Warriors arrive, having tracked the Meep to Earth in the 21st Century.

Siding with the Meep, The Doctor helps it evade capture. However, upon intercepting a Wrarth teleport, he wants to hear both sides and brings in Constable Zreeg and Seargent Zogroth. The truth emerges, the Meep is a genocidal tyrant, but after explaining why they are pursuing it, the Meep guns the Wrarth down. Although initially perceived as monsters, it’s hard not to feel sympathy for these champions for justice. The Meep has no remorse and is intent on escaping Earth, threatening to destroy London in the process. The Doctor devises a plan to stop it, restoring Donna’s memories so they can disable the ship’s drive. The Meep is captured, but not before delivering a cryptic warning to the Doctor.

“Fantastic … just fantastic!”

Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options, said: “I first encountered the Wrarth in a comic my mum bought for me way, way back in 1980, so when I saw these characters on screen, it brought back a lot of very fond memories. The modern interpretation of the Wrarth was brilliant – they are a very imposing alien and hugely top heavy as action figures (thus the need for the stand). So recreating them in figure form was not only a lot of fun but it was also really nostalgic. You just can’t help but smile when you see these guys towering over the standard figures and then dissolve into giggles when seeing them next to the Meep! And we finally got some ‘light pipe’ eyes in there, albeit limited by the size of the head … Fantastic … just fantastic!”

This new set is on sale now through www.character-online.co.uk and costs £44.99. Each online exclusive release has unique features not to be seen on retail versions and with a limited amount available, this set is certainly one not to be missed!

Mine arrived yesterday. An excellent service, one of the best Vortex ones, if a bit pricey. No complaints about the Wrarth Warriors though.

Got mine yesterday. Love them to bits. I’m fine with the price if we keep getting quality like this. Keep up the trend of characters like these that we haven’t had before.
I would kill for a 3 pack of the PATERNOSTER GANG from any of there episodes.
Surly 2 of these figs could be mostly retooled from existing molds. (would also love the 11th Doctor in bowler hat from the crimson fear episode)
    Others to note
    Shalka Doctor
Any of the other Masters that we haven’t had yet – Eric Roberts, Simm’s from Doctor Falls, Spy Master, War Master

Ultimatly im just glad this line still exists at all.

I would love to see the Paternoster gang as well. And a new Clara. But most of all I would like a Nightmare in Silver Cyberman 2 pack in the same style as the Wrarths

I think Steven Moffat rather trivialised the Cybermen…..
Turning them into speedy turbo things that flew after aeroplanes….
The classic Cybermen were slow, remorseless….and deadly…..!
Moffat’s Cybermen didn’t even blast Kate Lethbridge Stewart into smithereens….!
      Nor Rory.. .

It’s either that Haisman and Lincoln (authors and creators of the Yeti) have refused to grant permission, or that the model would be too expensive to make. Since a prototype was made (and photos were leaked) it’s more likely to be the latter. There is far more fan misinformation than information about this.

Arrived today and they are wonderful! I know these figures are more expensive than we would hope and they used to be but these feel value for money. There’s a lot of figure for the money. The detailing and articulation is great. Very thankful that I can add some monsters to my collection. More monsters please! Great job!

I am not understanding why this Vortex set is being slated because it is from a story 2 years ago. When The Master was released that was from a story over 44 years ago and The Third Doctor set from 54 years ago this negative point was not put forward.

Every figure released from CO or via B&M is going to be from the past 62 years. It might not be what we (collectively or individually) would most would like to see – Jamie (along with other not yet released companions) would be great. Yeti (along with other not yet released monsters) would be great.

I think there is disappointment that this set isn’t something else and that is likely to be for every release. As there are only a few releases now per year than in the hey day of new DW action figures (2006 – 2013) then there are very strong hopes being pinned on the four releases we have had this year.

There is also probably some disappointment that 50% of this year’s Vortex Editions have been focussed on one particular story (The Star Beast). Personally I am really happy with the release and to have a story complete with its Doctor and both monsters. It was great when this happened with Pyramids of Mars (Sutekh x 2, Mummies, Scarman).

If two years ago is too long ago then surely Susan and Barbara are even less likely to happen. Or Jamie. Or the Yeti. Or the Taran Wood Beast! : )

There are hundreds of potential figures that could be released – Doctor variants, companions and their variants, monsters, villains, supporting characters or the ever popular re-releases of previously released figures. Some releases are going to be more exciting than others as we will have waited longer for them (I’ll just say Jamie again).

The day they release any monster from the McCoy years I will do a little dance of joy! (Kandyman, Ancient Heamovore, The Destroyer, Husks, Bus Conductor, Chief Clown, Tetrap. Cleaning Machine double pack with different legs sticking out the back – yes please!!!

Hopefully over the releases (CO and B&M) there is something for everyone. Now I am going back to feeling like a child waiting for Father Christmas as I keep checking whether my order of the two Wrarths has gone from confirmed to dispatched. : )

Matt once you realise that doctor who fans are intrinsically ungrateful it all falls into place! People should just be grateful anything is being done. For those who love this set, great for those that don’t… Well nobody is forcing you to buy it. And just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean everyone has to hate it as well!

    • The Outcast

      November 27th, 2025 - 1:53pm

I agree with all you’ve commented above – there’s a lot of stuff on the wishlist, and everyone has different tastes, so nothing is going to appeal to everyone. That doesn’t mean it’s unworthy, however.

On another note, as a fellow 7th Doctor enjoyer, there was seemingly a hint at something 7th Doctor related being on the way in a recent podcast, we might be getting something off the above list next year. We can but hope…

      November 27th, 2025 - 2:22pm

All your points are very valid……
Its just that with so few Dr Who figures being released, you want them all to be….good ones…..

I just can’t get excited over these Wrarth figures, not now, nor for that matter when The Star Beast was on tv…..
But more power to those who do like them….
I would rather have a Taran Wood Beast myself…..

And now you’ve made me want to have a Tretrap figure…..!

To think what we could’ve had instead of this figure set (which itself is 2 years too late, after the episode that featured them)…

    – 11th Doctor in green pea coat from season 6
    – 7th Doctor in duffle coat from ‘Curse of Fenric’
    – 10th Doctor with ball jointed articulation and improved head sculpt
    – 13th Doctor in tuxedo outit from ‘Spyfall’
    – 6th Doctor in blue ‘Real Time’ costume (reissue)
    – 4th Doctor in season 18 burgundy outfit with hat
    – 5th Doctor without jacket from ‘Planet of Fire’
    – 12th Doctor in ragged outfit from ‘Twice Upon a Time’ with updated season 10 head sculpt.
    – Classic companion double pack – perhaps Jamie & Zoe or Nyssa & Tegan

Why do you want more Doctors. Surely we have enough variants now.

      Missing companions yes.

This figure was already designed so it makes sense to release what the toy shops didn’t want to back.

I’ve wanted a 7th Doctor in duffle coat for years……

Or a Leisure Hive Doctor with white hair and beard…

I think Donna has to be among my least favourite companions of all time (though Bill Potts and Matt Lucas are strong competitors to that title…..)
Embarassing, cringe worthy lines, or just too abrasive….

    • The Outcast

      November 27th, 2025 - 1:49pm

A reissue of the Real Time 6th Doctor is quite literally B&M foder, not worthy of an online exclusive.

I imagine we’ll see most of the others on this list at some other point in time, probably packed with monsters – Duffle 7 with Haemovores, for instance. Now that’d be a worthy exclusive.

I think this set is pretty good for fans of monsters – it’s rare we get proper newly sculpted monsters nowadays, I’m glad we got this over most of what’s on the list (which, again, is stuff we’ll probably get later anyway).

    • Amypondfan

      November 27th, 2025 - 1:51pm
