Got my copy yesterday and going through it. Is anyone else getting long gaps in the commentary track on episode 2 or it it just my blu ray player thats acting up?

No it’s the commentary. Happens on the DVD to. Seems to be only comments on the scenes with the doctor in episode two. Mind I remember a commentary on a 2.30 hr long film from a director that only lasted 55 mins! So not an error.

Received today, didn’t expect the first disk to be the New Year Special Resolution. Especially as I’d already brought it as a stand alone dvd. If I’d knew they were including it in the boxset I wouldn’t have bothered!

They weren’t including it until VERY recently after a campaign from fans. It does however mean sales of any stand alone Xmas Special this year will be low as everyone will now expect it on the next set.

I’ll still buy a standalone mainly as with the current situation the filming may be delayed so we may have quite a wait for the next series box set

I’ve not bothered watching disc one as I have the original and I’m keeping it. Trouble is whatever they do people complain. If it’s not included fans complain because it’s incomplete (although resolution really is series 11 not 12) if it’s on people complain that they’ve been conned into buying it. They really can’t win.

Just checked Amazon and zoom looks like the dates changed to May 4th now. I expect this will delay the classic series 14 boxset further aswell

Why have recent series DVD releases seemed to decline in quality, like we use to get a commentary for each episode and now there are barely any despite have longer to do them?

You do realise that actors have to be available to do commentaries? And that very few series of anything have commentary on every episode these days. Series 8 only had 4 commentaries. It doesn’t mean anything.

It doesn’t say specifically but presumably it will feature the extras from the individual DVD. Although sometimes in the past they held back some of the extras to make the individual release unique.

I’m pretty shocked we haven’t heard anything this week since the new doctor who magazine is out tomorrow. The BBC hasn’t even announced any extras or anything besides it including resolution yet either to my knowledge have they? Cutting it close with it being out on the 16th March

    • Anthony

      March 5th, 2020 - 8:22pm

I think it’s highly likely to get pushed back if the BBC don’t release a press release for it by say Monday afternoon. I mean it’s out in a week come Monday. Plus if they push the release date back means it’s not up against the faceless ones. I mean it will be an expensive week for collectors both of them being out together.

Nothing official but faceless ones is listed on zavvi for 9th March. It’s being shown at the bfi on the 29th February so it won’t be long after. Cover for both faceless ones and series 12 will Probably appear within the next month. The macra terror cover didn’t appear till about 3 weeks before release so I can see it being only a couple of weeks before release

Hope they change the artwork. The new ‘Spyfall’ poster with the cast suited and booted is much better and very Classic Who.

I miss the Series 1-5 individual volume releases and the cover, with bits of the Tardis in 3-5.
