B&M 2022 The First Doctor and Electronic Tardis Set

The five new Doctor Who classic lines will be available in November 2022 at B&M stores nationwide.

We think fans will be both delighted and surprised with this rather unique set. This action figure set includes:

  • The First Doctor as portrayed by David Bradley
  • Electronic TARDIS

As fans know, in the first ever episode of the TV show we encounter the TARDIS and its owner and pilot, an alien traveller known only as The Doctor. It’s the start of a great number of adventures over many years.

Since that first show the First Doctor has been played both on screen, and in audio format, by several actors but David Bradley in both the dramatization of the early years of Doctor Who ‘An Adventure in Space & Time’ and in the twelfth Doctor Story ‘Twice Upon A Christmas’ as well as many Big Finish audio adventures, giving a very unique and powerful portrayal which really captured the essence of William Hartnell’s First Doctor.

Speaking of this wave of releases Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options, said: “This range has some real gems in it, including some not so easy to spot ones. The three figure sets are very cool and there’s at least one standout figure in each set, including a new Ninth Doctor with new components and an updated Rose V1. We also have a brand-new Angel variant as well as a physically new version of Yaz. Collectors will delight in looking for both variants of the Angel figure.

“With the Dalek sets – this time we have two absolute standout pieces with ‘Genesis of the Daleks’ and my personal favourite Dalek story ‘Destiny of the Daleks’. For me it has everything and I love the look of the battered war worn Daleks. Following that and much to my own delight, is a new First Doctor figure in the form of David Bradley’s Doctor paired with a very unique looking TARDIS based more on the TARDIS look in the BBC 2013 anniversary drama story which covered the creation of the TV series.

“Lastly to go hand in hand with the Dalek sets is a great special release featuring Davros and a very special Dalek … all I can say is fans will not want to miss out on that one!”

Is it possible that we’re just panicking a little bit early? Could it be that the bulk of these TARDIS sets are still caught up in the two weeks delay we were told about? In which case there’ll be plenty more to come.

They might only list something like five at a time. Alternatively, it takes a while for “buy” to become “alert me” when loading the page at any time of day, and that gives the illusion of it being briefly in stock.

I should add it doesn’t always take a few seconds to change, but often enough to give false hope.

Firstly they should have just one per purchase, and just leave it open, surely they could have kept some back for this reason like when character options do an online order, at the end of the day, I don’t think they know what there doing.

If it is they really ought to update the website to reflect that, whether it be “Instore Only” or “No Longer Available”.

After three nights of staying up trying to secure one of these, I’m sick and literally tired of this scenario now.

Not doing yourself any favours in the long run with these tactics, B&M.

Sorry to be off topic (to be on topic: Still a bit concerned mine hasn’t dispatched- single order, Saturday 1.20am-ish, no cancellation, fingers crossed) but assumptions, frustrated or not, have really let ‘mr man’ down there. Looks so rude and ignorant and really disappointed in the community behaving like that. Do better. Still wish you the best of luck finding yours, and trying to be appreciative that these moments are stressful and you might, understandably, have your own issues to deal with, too- but it’s just not on to be so off, especially to somebody who goes out of their way to help others find these. An apology wouldn’t be out of place.
All the best, Booboo. Thanks as always. Hope you get some respite/relief/joy from whatever you pick up in this wave. And best to those in your care.

Think I just prompted fate or earned some good karma, because I’ve had a confirmation of dispatch literally moments ago! Happy days! (Haven’t updated my finds on here this wave because I’ve seen others get information out before me. All sorted, though, thankfully.)
Yeah, don’t think people recognise you have the same stresses as the rest of us (not that it would warrant an outburst if you didn’t), though I personally think you ought to be on a PR list, frankly. I suspect, despite your site probably being the primary source for information on this line, most of the toy industry narrowly places too much value in video channels alone now. Bit of a poor understanding of the audience, but that happens.
      Cheers again!

Does make me wonder about this one: Despite the little gold Limited Edition label on the packaging Al Dewer has never said these were one-off exclusives that will never see the light of day again.
And with the sets selling out so rapidly you would think B & M would be urgently messaging Character Options saying “Can we have some more, please?”.
I understand that they can’t just produce these overnight, but I would have thought it would in B & M and Character’s (financial) interest to rerelease these sets sometime again in the near future?

      November 21st, 2022 - 3:18pm

I agree with this. Personally I don’t care about them being ‘limited’ – should a run sell out due to scalpers I quite like the idea that B&M could just run off a second run. This having to rush around from store to store is no fun at all and I resent paying dealers prices as much as anyone.

As an aside nothing in Doncaster Lakeside as of 3pm today.

Doesn’t really matter how many times they can be issued wether it’s once or 4 times the sharks will still snap them up. I mean it’s more stock for them then isn’t it?

    • John

      November 22nd, 2022 - 2:06pm

Yes, but quantity decreases the rarity value and sharks won’t be paying out for something they get no return on.

I would to express my thanks to Bigman 47 for a great idea but I do fully appreciate and understand the restrictions on privacy and exchanging details.
I am sure that I am not the only one frustrated with the entire B & M experience!
A round trip to my “local” B & M store is about 45 miles and I have become disappointed and disillusioned about the often “pointless trip” in the vain hope that the Dr Who sets might be in stock!
The fiasco about trying to purchase the latest Tardis set – need I say more?
The disappointment about Eaglemoss and now B & M seems to make trying to build a collection more and more stressful.
I am sure that many members of this forum are genuine collectors and we all could all do without this hassle.
Thanks to booboo for doing a great job on this site – it is very much appreciated.
