For people who just want Blu-rays of the new 4k remasters, they’re on Amazon Germany (the versions with the new cover art). From the Marketplace sellers at the mo you can get each film for under a tenner (including delivery to the UK).

What can I say but, WOW, I first saw these on a Bank Holiday Weekend on Channel 4, and this was my first introduction to the Daleks in a complete way (having seen snippets of ‘Remembrance’ on Video), and became firm favourites for me for many years, and then I forgot about them. When these were announced i felt it was time to revisit the Daleks cinematic takeovers and see if the new restorations are worth it… and this 4K restoration is Incredible… and when you see the Restoration documentary for the 4K remasters, you will appreciate more how painstakingly beautiful it is to have these almost as a preserved slice of 1960s filmmaking. Peter Cushing is absolutely wonderful as Dr. Who, who is more whimsical than his television counterpart at the time. And the support Cast make this stand out.

This is why my childhood was awesome.

Can’t wait to see DALEKS: INVASION EARTH 2150 ad in 4K on 18th July when the Collector’s Edition of that gets delivered

I’m guessing these will be shown at a number of cinemas but they are on at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford as a double bill on 10th July 🙂

When I was at my local Odeon cinema a week or so back they had a poster promoting these and on it it said also at Cinemas. I know that Odeon have been showing older classic movies recently restored etc. but are these going on more general release or just odd specialist screenings?

Not this too… That isn’t Cudhings TARDIS, it’s a 2005 TARDIS with the St. John’s Ambulance sticker. I know I’m being pedantic but I’m getting really sick of companies making money from Doctor Who and phoning it in.

To be fair I think we’ve been spoilt by lees fantastic bluray collection covers and designs, they really do hit the right notes with us fans, then these come out and fall short of his standards and attention to detail.

I personally find these covers quite fun, as i do the movies.

The BBC own the copyright to the Police Box, might be something to do with that, there is usually something behind these things.

Surely, if the BBC owns the copyright to the 2005 Tardis, then it wouldn’t be on a Studio Canal release. It would be the proper film version Tardis which I assume Studio Canal owns the copyright.

That’s the point, BBC own the copyright to the “Police Box”, regardless of which version, so Studio Canal would have most likely have to ask the BBC to use an image of a police Box on any artwork and they might has insisted it was that version.

That might not be the case but things are not a clear cut as people think sometimes

“In 1996, the BBC applied for a trademark to use the blue police box design in merchandising associated with Doctor Who. In 1998, the Metropolitan Police filed an objection to the trademark claim, maintaining that they owned the rights to the police box image.” Basically the BBC have the right to have the right to use the Image of their TARDIS and (if I recall correctly) the windows and design of the 2010-2017 TARDIS police box, Steven Moffat wanted it to be more in line with the Cushing Films.

Mine arrived today. Really happy with the presentation. Definitely glad I went for this over the (new) steelbook.
What’s not clear from the photos is that the cover is actually shiny kind of like a Pokemon card which does detract my previous fears of it looking cartoony.

Booboo: I’ve read that it is 5 artcards in online blurbs, but the picture only shows 4? Do we know if it is 4 or 5 cards?

honestly don’t know, the official press release does state 5 cards but like you say only 4 are shown although i suppose one not seen could be the packaging artwork

Both of these look great. Loving the art cards and poster. I am hoping the price for the collector’s edition might yet drop a wee bit though!

The more comic strip style of the covers is very striking but I do wish they had found a way to use the gorgeous painted art that was used on the original ‘big box’ VHS releases. Both of them were every bit as good as the original 60s poster art.

At least the art from the first film has been used for the forthcoming making of book.

Does this not include the steelbook, and just has the 4K + Blu Ray discs in standard packaging along with all the other goodies?

Pre- order them Straight away to make sure you get a copy. Amazon don’t take any money untill a few days before Despatch. Gives you plenty of time to make sure you have sufficient funds.

DalekAgent, what I do also is buy Amazon gift vouchers and knock it off the total, and by the time they come out are mostly or fully paid off. Takes the sting out of the full price all at once!
