this may be similar to what happened with the 13″ dalek supreme, it was on very.com for a price near to £60 but then a few weeks later it was in B and M for half the price. Hoping this may happen again

Darker grey and the “handle” on the body behind the head is gone so this is a “classic” one, new phrases as well i think but i didn’t buy one ( price to steep even for us) so i dont know anything else

I know, the price is ridiculous… especially as the first one was only £40 a few years ago. It’s a shame as he looks really nice… but £70!?

This is one of the best things ever because when I got into doctor who in 2008 this was long gone and I was just about to order one for a lot of money but then they bring this out I can’t believe it. PS doctor if you read this I still want to come back to the TARDIS I’ll be in touch

It has had new phrases recorded and is a 4th Doctor version rather than 10th.

Bear in mind that the recent plush K9 was £30 for something quite small.

The trend seems to be that k9 related merchandise is thought to be less mainstream than daleks, is therefore made in less quantities, and ends up costing more.

He’s fantastic!!! I wanted one of the little tin (plastic?) pups when originally released but missed out, so this time I will get him! And the fact that he’s now the Classic charcoal grey that I grew up watching is just icing on the cake! Wooooowho! Loving this and can’t wait til he’s available in the US!

Since SJA is over, the K9 TV show stopped and K9 isn’t in doctor who anymore I think anything K9 related is going to become less and less popular.

My second nearest TRU has sold 2 at least already.

A lot of exclusive-to-shop sets seem/are overpriced. I have sometimes waited for it to come down, and ended up missing it, never to see it again except on eBay at 3 times the original price. There are only so many times one can visit TRU in a year when you live 20 miles away; I still probably manage 15-20.

I have sometimes paid twice as much for an item 2nd hand and damaged as I could have got it originally.

  • The Monitor

I bought mine yesterday evening in TRU. Didn’t even know it was coming. The shelf can only take two of them.

£70 was a shock, but it will probably be a TRU exclusive so they have a monopoly on it.

At least it is not a Tenth Dr re-release, otherwise I would have thought twice.

    • robster

      October 25th, 2014 - 11:40am

So the first one they did,the one I have, isn’t the Classic one? This one looks just the same, only with different phrases.

    • booboo

      October 25th, 2014 - 11:53am

this is a “classic” one, the original you have was based on the new series design

It is a variant as there is no “handle” on the body behind the head as per the classic K9 and it looks darker grey

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      October 25th, 2014 - 11:56am

No. They have never released a Classic K9 in any form of figure or model etc. In the figures, they continuously re-released the Modern K9 just with Classic figures.

And this looks rather different from the original remote control K9, he had a different collar, and I believe the screen on the other side of him is different too. Also, the silver looks a lot darker.

    • robster

      October 25th, 2014 - 8:41pm

So what Dapol made was not based on the classic K-9? And Palitoy, back in the day? Or do you just mean CO has never released a classic K-9? ‘Cos I know others have.

And yes,it does seem like a darker grey,I like it,might get this one too.

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      October 26th, 2014 - 9:43pm

Yes. Of course I meant Character Options/Underground Toys.

    • robster

      October 27th, 2014 - 4:06am

Oh,ok. That wasn’t entirely clear, lol. At least CO/UGT make the better looking ones. Although that little mini kit from Running Press is pretty good looking one too.

Ordered it. Better be good for the price. Toys’R’Us have only just started delivery to my address again as they have deemed it too rural for the past year or so. Why the change in heart all of a sudden, but I’m not complaining.

They sent out the Dalek Asylum set to me two days ago and it was with me Today. UPS standard delivery, excellent service.

no, even i am taken aback by that price

unless of course this in internet only inflated price so they can do an offer later

Tesco used to do it with the 3 figure sets, it happens a lot

    • StetsonDoctor

      October 24th, 2014 - 9:45pm

Well, I hope it goes down. I guess there’s always two ways these exclusives can go: either they sell out dead quick, or stick around for a while. If the latter happens, hopefully we may see a considerable decrease…

    • SteveW

      October 28th, 2014 - 9:27am

…the price of the original one was £39.99 – so this is a whopping £30 price increase(!).
