Yesteryear Feature – Dapol Doctor Who Exhibition
For many years Dapol played host to the BBC Doctor Who Experience, a permanent exhibition based next to the Dapol factory at Lower Dee, llangollen.
On display were many costumes, monsters and exhibits from the shows History and many special events were held there. You were greeted at the enterance by A Dalek and The Tardis.
Sadly, this unique and quite superb exhibition closed in 2003 after Dapols licence expired and was not renewed.

October 23rd, 2011 - 5:23pmI went here many times over the years, it was a great place not just Doctor Who, it showed the making of the Dapol figures and had many train sets there going around in a glass cabinet. I went there just after it had closed, it was being turned into some sort of block of flats, such a waste. I went to the Blackpool one the next year, it just wasn’t the same and now they have got rid of half of the exhibition at auction. If the Dapol Exhibition had stayed maybe for another years then the new Doctor Who would of been made and it would of stayed.

October 16th, 2011 - 5:10pmThe Dapol Doctor Who Exhibition was very good and well worth a long journey there. The shop was good also. I would have loved to visited the mould shop but it was closed that day. What struck me about this exhibition was the strong smell of the materials used to make those magnificent monsters. It is great that we had the Brighton and Cardiff exhibitions and currently the London one, but I was particularly saddened by the Dapol loss; it was part of Doctor Who history as was the Longleat exhibition and shop. Great losses, both of them.

December 6th, 2010 - 8:15pmEveryone was mentioning Blackpool, I have travled the world (litteraly) but I have not been to Blackpool. Shame because I always here of great Doctor Who exhibitions. I may have gone to that if it was open now but only if it was free and in Kent. If it was about the new series I wouldn’t care if it was at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean (the largest in the world, not the Atlantic.) I didn’t like Doctor Who in 2003 but I have to admit. In the words of the ninth doctor (Christopher Eccleson.) FANTASTIC!
