Toy Fair 2020 News Round up 5.5″ figures and Construction Kits
Its that time of year again and our annual visit to the toy fair proved worthwhile.
On display at the Character stand were:
- 13th Doctor TARDIS
- Judoon with Gun
- Reconnaissance Dalek (with Dalek mutant accessory)
- Graham O’brien
- The Thirteenth Doctor (with bag and sonic screwdriver accessories) purple top
These items are now available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.com
They will also available to order at a later date from www.character-online.com
These are due in late February, Figures have an RRP of £12.99 and the (lights and sound) Tardis £24.99
Also on display were Yaz and Ryan who will be included in an upcoming 13th Doctor B&M set!
The 13th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver was also on display and it should be noted everything is now in the “Classic Blue” style guide, as per the B&M sets.
One of the good things about the toy fair is that you come across things that you knew nothing about and this year it was 3 metal construction kits due towards the end of the year.
These kits are big and include The Tardis, K9 and a Dalek. They may look a little basic to some but we are back to the good old days of, well you know, those construction sets we all loved. These are great.
On a side note we spent a good, and very rewarding few hours with Eaglemoss outside of the event.

January 21st, 2020 - 10:30pmthere are no official images of the B&M set yet, only Ryan and Yaz were (unusually for an exclusive) on display, toy fair images are embargoed until we are told otherwise sadly.

January 21st, 2020 - 10:38pmAh okay, sorry I thought when you said you had photos from them I thought you meant that they gave you official photos. That’s a little confusing, I don’t know why they’d show two exclusives from a B&M set but not the rest of the set and the wave.

I am hoping the B & M sets of 3 figures (well thats what they seem to have done usually) Have another Jodie Variant (with goggles would be nice) to go with Yaz & Ryan. But that might be pushing it, with THREE new figures in one box set. Hopefully these are out before end of series. Sorry moaning over. Yeahhh

January 21st, 2020 - 10:53pmretailers say the price points and margins they want, if its £19.99 without card and that’s what they want that’s what happens. To much blame is put on character as usual. You do what the customer wants, not what other people think should happen.

January 21st, 2020 - 8:51pmI feel like, due to the Ryan and Yaz situation, they are putting a greater deal of emphasis on the B&M range, and therefore perhaps wanted one, constant design layout across all merchandise, modern and classic… kinda a shame as I feel I preferred the colourful version, but whatever, its the products that count…

They look even better than I was expecting. Especially the Tardis and Graham, both of which I was a little worried about, but they look amazing.
Also, Jodies more accurate hair colouring and a cheaper way to get a dalek mutant… this. Is. AWESOME!!!

January 21st, 2020 - 6:47pmSo I guess this is pretty encouraging, if you think about the fact, we now have a larger range of figures for 13’s era, based on 1 season, than we got from 3 of Capaldis.
12’s era:
– 3 characters recievieved action figures (12, Missy and Bill)
13’s era (so far, hopefully more to come)
– 6 characters have recieved action figures (13, Graham, Ryan, Yaz, Judoon Captain and Recon Dalek)
– I suspect, if these are popular then it would be easy (with minimal tweaking) to create a Judoon trooper and 2020 X-mas special Dalek leader as well as Drones (2005 bronze model + recon dalek claw) and we need a Dahwan Master as well!
(I’m aware the only truly ‘original’ figure sculpt for 13s era so far has been the dalek, with all the other, to varying degrees being a mix and match of pre-existing figures, but they have some new sculpt, so I’m counting them, i.e. thats why I call Bill an ‘original’ and not the ‘Not-as-seen-on-TV’ Clara figure.
