Toy Fair 2020 News Round up 5.5″ figures and Construction Kits

Its that time of year again and our annual visit to the toy fair proved worthwhile.

On display at the Character stand were:

  • 13th Doctor TARDIS
  • Judoon with Gun
  • Reconnaissance Dalek (with Dalek mutant accessory)
  • Graham O’brien
  • The Thirteenth Doctor (with bag and sonic screwdriver accessories) purple top

These items are now available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.com

They will also available to order at a later date from www.character-online.com

These are due in late February, Figures have an RRP of £12.99 and the (lights and sound) Tardis £24.99

Also on display were Yaz and Ryan who will be included in an upcoming 13th Doctor B&M set!

The 13th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver was also on display and it should be noted everything is now in the “Classic Blue” style guide, as per the B&M sets.

One of the good things about the toy fair is that you come across things that you knew nothing about and this year it was 3 metal construction kits due towards the end of the year.

These kits are big and include The Tardis, K9 and a Dalek. They may look a little basic to some but we are back to the good old days of, well you know, those construction sets we all loved. These are great.

On a side note we spent a good, and very rewarding few hours with Eaglemoss outside of the event.

Any clue who will be selling these???? Can’t really be bothered to do the “b and m dash” on new series range. Nothing wrong with them and the tardis is a must but I’m not driving hundreds of miles again lol

The regular wave (w/ 13, Graham, Judoon, Dalek & TARDIS) should be released to regular retailers or comic shops.

The Yaz & Ryan (& an unknown figure) will be released to B&M only in a 3 pack.

I really hope that the unknown figure will be someone like Tim Shaw or perhaps Grace, because that would be awesome…

Shame about there being no news on the Classic front. Hoping there’s still something set for Feb on that front.

Classic figures haven’t had a general market since around 2013, the only ones we get now are the B&M sets.

I assume 13ths TARDIS is hollow or is there any inlay sticker showing console?

Well if thats true that would be great and a return to the TARDIS releases from 2005+ and would be a good idea to release future TARDIS’ this way again. The hollow ones weren,t the same even with sound effects. Although weren,t the 7th and 4th underground toys through Character. Its that long ago since I sold both of mine.

There was no inlay sticker that we saw. It was just hollow.

Ok no change then, would have been nice. A little disappointed. Doctor What must have been ill informed.

We are also seeing other people this time

I love the idea of being able to open up the Dalek to put the mutant inside. That’s really cool. It’s a must have figure for me and I’ll definitely get 13’s Tardis too.

I assume, its simply a dalek mutant that can be attatched to other characters, as seen in the epidode, rather than one that can be placed inside the dalek itself…

Sounds great! Hopefully the B&M Ryan and Yaz will be in abundance -still didn’t manage to get any of last years sets even though there were meant to be more. I’m gonna guess they come with another 13 variant -maybe a more lighter blue top version or I guess they might be able to make a Judoon trooper? Hopefully they’re coming early Feb!

As much as I’m very excited about these new figures being released my only concern is that we aren’t getting all the companions at the same time. Obviously character have a reason for this but wouldn’t it have been better to have all the companions released at the same time for better display?
      Just a thought.

      January 21st, 2020 - 12:15pm

Doesn’t look like There was enough interest last year for the 3 of them, that was the original idea

Better this wAy than not at all we don’t want another “Owen situation”

    • SamWho

      January 21st, 2020 - 12:26pm

I think it’s good to spread them out it’s a miracle we are getting all three at all thanks to B&M we can & will be able to display them all together just have to wait a little longer (which dr who fans are good at)

    • The Destroyer of Worlds

      January 21st, 2020 - 12:40pm

Booboo, I’m surprised they haven’t done Nardole yet as currently he’s the only modern companion without a figure. So both him and Owen were left out of the main groups annoyingly.

    Can’t wait to see these!
Another 13th Doctor variant figure is most welcome (we had loads of the tenth)
I have made my own custom 13th Tardis which looks awesome but I’ll have a look at the CO one but the classic box reuse rumour makes me think it will look a bit small.
The Reconnaissance Dalek sounds great I love that Dalek! I imagine there will be a little rubber Mutant with bendy tentacles you can wrap around a figure as the accessory.
Yaz and Ryan being in a B&M set is okay but I just hope I can find them and Graham sounds like he’s going to be in a pack alone (poor Graham).
Good news all round, hope we get a series 12 Cyberman! and Master!

This is fantastic! Unique accessories now too!

My guess is the 3rd figure in the B&M set (if it is a 3 pack) will be a third version of the Thirteenth Doctor to keep costa down. But obviously I would love a brand new figure.
To have Yaz and Ryan included in a budget set for their first release must mean there are variants planned in the future.

Ah okay, it’s a shame they’ll only be at B&M. How come the two (or possibly three) pack can’t go to comic book shops like FP as it’s harder to get them from B&M? Is there just not enough consumer interest?
