Character Options 2017 Doctor Who product Line to be seen first at London Toy Fair
Character Options is proud to unveil a range of new Doctor Who figures and accessories for 2017. The new collection will be available from mid spring and is to be seen for the first time at London Toy Fair on Tuesday 24th January 2017.
Heading up the range is a number of articulated figures that will be perfect for collectors. Set in the classic 5.5 inch scaling each perfectly replicates some of the favourite characters, past and present, from the show.
The Tenth Doctor in Tuxedo, available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk, is packed in collectors packaging and not only comes with a figure and a Sonic Screwdriver but for fans is one of the most requested alternate outfits; perfect to recreate scenes from “Rise of Cybermen” and “Voyage of the Damned!”
Added to this is the favoured Tenth Doctor’s Sonic with lights and sounds. For those that did not collect it first time round now’s the time to add to your collection.
Fans of the Tenth Doctor will also be keen to get their hands on The Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s TARDIS Playset. With its motorised time rotor and pulsating lights this is the ultimate playset and has an illuminated console with six control buttons, removable floor panels and flip up console panel.
Another Figure in the series is the Twelfth Doctor, as played by Peter Capaldi, in his Ninth Season hoodie and checked trousers outfit. This item also includes a new head sculpt and his brand new Sonic Screwdriver just in time for Season Ten!
For serious collectors needing every variant, there is also the Twelfth Doctor in his Ninth Season Hoodie and Black Jumper outfit, a 5.5 inch figure not to be missed.
Finally, if you are looking for a Cyberman with a difference then make sure you stretch yourself for the new Cyberman 7-inch Stretch toy! Watch with wonder as the Doctors arch enemy is stretched many times his size only to return back to his original shape and size once he is let loose.

January 22nd, 2017 - 3:25pmIt’ll be interesting to see whether the sizing issue that the previous four variants had has been fixed this time as judging by the pictures of them in the packaging they look the same size as the Series 8 variants.

January 22nd, 2017 - 3:27pmThis is referring to the two Twelfth Doctor hoodie variants if anyone’s wondering.

January 22nd, 2017 - 2:07pmLooks good likeness on those figure which is a good start

booboo
January 22nd, 2017 - 9:13amyes we will
The Outcast
January 22nd, 2017 - 1:08amThe Twelfth Doctor figure look amazing in these images. They look alot more like peter than the old ones. I still hope there will be something else new at the Toyfair though as they need to release more Monster/Villain figures soon. If you don’t count re-releases, then the only Monster/Villain we’ve had are the two variants of Missy, which is annoying as Doctor Who is as much about the monsters as it is the relationships, which I feel people often forget.

January 22nd, 2017 - 1:21am“No bug-eyed monsters” – Sydney Newman
The Outcast
January 22nd, 2017 - 2:16amBut not all Monsters/Aliens/Villains have bug-eyes. And having a villain would certainly be better than constant Nu-Who Doctors and companions. I mean, if we can have villains can we atleast have TV movie 7 or Jamie. I like these figures and can’t wait to buy them, but whats the point in having the Doctor if he has no enemies to fight?
CG
January 22nd, 2017 - 1:03amWell I am very excited for these three figures! I think we should be very grateful for the two extra 12 doctors which in my opinion look absolutely fantastic in these images, at least giving his face a little more expression and likeness to Capaldi. Personally I am not too fust about the 10th doctor but certainly see the demand and “need” for this particular variant.

January 21st, 2017 - 9:15pmOkay, so I know this is a wierd one, but who else would like a 5.5 inch s7 Amy figure from The Angels Take Manhattan (I think that’s what it’s called). I loved the 3.75 fig and just wondered if anyone else wanted the same.
DWFAN1
January 21st, 2017 - 9:22pmyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 21st, 2017 - 11:11pmYay. Glad someone agrees.

January 21st, 2017 - 7:58pmWhen it said cybermen I was hoping for 5.5 nightmare in silver cyberman
Jordan Scott
January 21st, 2017 - 8:03pmSame 🙁
Ian
January 21st, 2017 - 8:08pmSame..this will end up as a peg warmer like the last Cyberman thing they did.
The Outcast
January 22nd, 2017 - 12:20pmHow difficult is it to make a 5.5 2013- Cyberman. Surely its just an upscale of the 3.75 version.
booboo
January 22nd, 2017 - 12:53pmthey already have the renders which could be used in any scale
its the tooling where the biggest expense is and that’s not been done
I really don’t know why they haven’t done this
Still Not Ginger
January 21st, 2017 - 7:38pmDo you think that a five inch Clara is a possibility?
Dalek4ever
January 21st, 2017 - 7:53pmIt’s already out
Jordan Scott
January 21st, 2017 - 8:02pmThat’s just a repainted Oswin, doesn’t resemble anything Clara actually wore.
Still Not Ginger
January 21st, 2017 - 8:07pmLike a series 9 one I mean
Anonymous
January 21st, 2017 - 8:09pmI would have really liked a s9 FTR Clara. Or at least a Clara with short hair to look like she’s from s9. I don’t like all the Clara’s released having long hair when it was short in s9.
Anonymous
January 21st, 2017 - 8:12pm…And I would also like to know if there is any chance we will get a proper s9 Clara figure in the future, or if they’ll skip it and move to s10 figs.
Dalekparadigm2
January 21st, 2017 - 7:30pmWell then, my dream 2018 (or sooner) action figure range would be:
12th Doctor Red Velvet Jacket Variant 5″
Bill Potts 5″
Dark Eyes 8th Doctor (wildcard action figure) 5″
12th Doctor’s Console Room
Dalekparadigm2
January 21st, 2017 - 7:40pmAnd even a step further by making the Dark Eyes 8th Doctor into a two pack alongside Alex Macqueen’s Master… Dark Eyes 3 Figure set maybe…
Dalek4ever
January 21st, 2017 - 7:53pmAgreed
The Outcast
January 22nd, 2017 - 12:14amThey could easily do the Alex Macqueen Master. Just get any standard suit wearing body, repaint it a bit and place a new head on (and maybe give him his tissue compression eliminator as an accessory).
Dalekparadigm2
January 22nd, 2017 - 10:08amYeah, and even though they would have to make a new body mould, the head for 8 already exists (War Doctor spare)
Dalekparadigm2
January 22nd, 2017 - 10:11amTo make a new red velvet Variant is stupidly easy now. Do it!
Dalekparadigm2
January 22nd, 2017 - 10:11amFor Capaldi that is
The Outcast
January 22nd, 2017 - 10:38amI didn’t mention this in my other comment, but my most wanted figure is the ‘Wheel in Space’ Cyberman. It’s the only major classic variant they need to release and it is much sought after by collectors.
I’ve always had this set IDEA: Cyberman collectors set #1:
‘Wheel in Space’ Cyberman (Height: in-between Tomb and Invasion designs)
‘Attack of the Cybermen’ Cyberleader (New head on pre-existing body)
2013-Current Cyberman (Upscale, No arm weapon and no chest-light)
If Character released this, it would sell as
A) Its got the current Cyberman design in it
B) The Wheel and Current Cyberman designs can be reused
C) Collectors would love it (Completes the gap in the collection)
D) Some new Villains, at last…
Dalek4ever
January 21st, 2017 - 6:59pmAny ideas when the 12th figures and 10th’s tardis console is out?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 7:06pmat the moment mid spring so May Time unless of course any one has an exclusive lead in deal
Alex
Aj
January 21st, 2017 - 6:05pmOh yes… and more time squad figures…. we need a 9th Dr, Zygon, Bill, Rose… anything iconic from series 8 and 9…
Aj
January 21st, 2017 - 6:03pmThe figures I would be excited to see…
Series 9 Clara
New Cyberman
New Zygon
River Song (husband’s of/black jacket)
Bill
Random figures such as tux 10…
Rose Tyler series 4
Donna series 4
New 10th Dr Brown suit updated sculpt.
Oliver
January 21st, 2017 - 7:29pmIt’s been said Billie Piper and Catherine Tate vetoed any more figures, disliking their previous versions. It’s a shame, I really need a better Rose and Donna
Still Not Ginger
January 21st, 2017 - 6:00pmIs the build your own sonic definitely getting re released?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 6:06pmits not mentioned but the images were included with the release so not sure what’s that about, same for the journal with ring
DanWFA
January 21st, 2017 - 5:55pmBooboo, Is everything that’s on this page everything that will be revealed at Toy Fair or is there probably more stuff (Hopefully 5.5 inch) to be announced there?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 5:58pmI would think this is it but we wont know until we get there
EndlessTimelord
January 21st, 2017 - 5:13pmSo if we do get to see stuff for “The First time” what would everyone want to see and in which scale? I think if there are figures it would be from Series 9 as they’ve had a year and a bit to do so. 🙂
Anonymous
January 21st, 2017 - 5:16pmi hope for a new range like the micro universe or time squad something cheap and that you can get hold of easily
thatgirl
January 21st, 2017 - 5:01pmI completely forgot about the toy fair this year!
Can’t wait for the 12th Doctor figures!
Tom Baker Plush
January 21st, 2017 - 4:59pm“Stretchy Cyberman?” Whose idea was that? I can’t imagine what would make someone think there is any demand whatsoever for a stretchy Cyberman. Instead of making a massive mold for that and spending loads of money to cast memory foam, they could’ve made as smaller mold, spent less money and given us a 5.5″ Cyberman that hundreds of collectors have been requesting for ages, and hence wouldn’t be destined to end up on the shelves of Home Bargs a couple of months after release
Ian
January 21st, 2017 - 4:58pmBoo boo is the playset any different
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 5:01pmnot that i can see
LastOfTheSonics
January 21st, 2017 - 4:56pmAnyone have pictures of the re-release of the build your own sonic?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 5:01pmthese images were included with the release but not sure where they fit in really
LastOfTheSonics
January 21st, 2017 - 8:28pmInteresting. Nothing new there then. Although aren’t you going to Toy Fair on Tuesday? Could there be something new there?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 9:52pmwe will see, somehow I doubt it, I think there is more, clearly Bill is a must but they wont be showing her just yet possibly
LastOfTheSonics
January 22nd, 2017 - 8:23amI see. Did you see that video about the red setting for the new sonic? I was thinking maybe they’re gonna have a new wave of sonics and it’ll have the new one with the red setting included.
WhovianFan2003
January 21st, 2017 - 4:48pmBooboo wil you be going to the toy fair?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 4:50pmyes we are on Tuesday, will be posting images etc whilst we are there
Demdike@CultLabs
January 21st, 2017 - 4:36pmSome new non humanoid figures would be nice. I find these endless Doctor figures really boring.
Dan Fellows
January 21st, 2017 - 4:21pmI wish they would re issue 4th Dr classic police box & release a classic Tardis console. So much missed opportunity!
CharlieTheWhovian
January 21st, 2017 - 8:49pmAgreed!
Al
January 21st, 2017 - 4:15pmBecause the world needs a Cyberman version of Stretch Armstrong.
Hoping for a Series 9 Clara and a red velvet jacket Twelve before long. As well as Pearl though I don’t expect one of her for a while.
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 4:20pmBecause of the break and broadcast time they have had plenty of time to do Pearl but they may not be able to show her publicly yet
when the show was on early in the year in the past there was plenty of stuff hidden away at the toy fair in a “secret room” because it was from episodes that had not aired yet.
Wouldn’t surprise me if some people get to see a pearl figure
Anonymous
January 21st, 2017 - 4:24pmI was also hoping for a s9 Clara and a red velvet 12, I would love them.
KEVIN BUNKER
January 21st, 2017 - 4:04pmHave the 12″ radio controlled Dalek’s been scrapped? Was hoping we’d see them released last year but it’s been quiet a long time now.
Jordan Scott
January 21st, 2017 - 4:16pmI really hope they’re not, it would be great to see some more at some point!
TheWarDoctor
January 21st, 2017 - 3:48pmI heard on the DoctorWhoToys forum that apparently the annual sonic range is re releases. Build your own sonic, journal of impossible things and 10s sonic. Can Character release stuff from the 12th Doctor’s era, it is after all, the 12th Doctor’s era. Tennant is long gone no matter how well it sells!
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 3:54pmthe 10th sonic is the diamond classic packaging and the other are the same, not sure what’s behind these re-releases its a really odd selection
Anonymous
January 21st, 2017 - 3:46pmWill there be other stuff at the toy fair booboo? Or will it just be this?
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 3:48pmthis is probably it for public display but I suspect there will be more behind the scenes that they can’t show yet
EndlessTimelord
January 21st, 2017 - 3:51pmIt does say it’s going to be seen for the first time, so hopefully. Just a waiting game I suppose…
TheWarDoctor
January 21st, 2017 - 3:42pmLooks like I was right Booboo…
booboo
January 21st, 2017 - 3:47pmThings have only just changed for whatever reason
EndlessTimelord
January 21st, 2017 - 3:47pmI can’t wait to see what there is hopefully Capaldi era merch as there’s not been much.
EndlessTimelord
January 21st, 2017 - 3:40pmWait, does this mean there will be other stuff on show? Like some new Series 9 stuff? Would it be 5 inch or 3.75? Can’t wait!
