B&M 2020 Ace Set UK Product Code 364315. Available from 8th November 2020.

This set celebrates Remembrance of the Daleks from Season 25 Episode 3, first broadcast in October 1988.

The TARDIS arrives in London in 1963, where the Doctor and Ace discover that two rival factions of Daleks – one loyal to the Dalek Emperor and one to the Dalek Supreme – are seeking the Hand of Omega, a powerful Time Lord device that the first Doctor hid there during an earlier sojourn on Earth.

The Daleks are focusing their search around Coal Hill School – the school that the Doctor’s grand-daughter Susan attended – while a military unit led by Group Captain Gilmore is attempting to resist their incursions.

The figures in this set feature the Imperial Dalek and Ace as well as accessories including backpack and RPG launcher.

Speaking of the new release, Al Dewar, Creative Director said: “This year has seen a cascade of new sets for collectors and fans and these latest two sets are favourites of mine because they represent unique moments in Doctor Who that many fans including myself remember… wonderful stuff!’

If the figures in the background are anything to go by as Al usually hints in his videos… we’ll soon be getting an 11th doctor in top hat like the one in the snowmen set and a new ear doctor set…

is this the start of a new line of sets, like we’ve got the usual tardis line, 3x 3pack line and the history of the daleks line, is this just miscellaneous/dalek themed? If so i’d quite like to see:

season 12 4th doctor with davros from genesis
an updated destiny of the daleks 4th doctor with kamikaze dalek
a 6th doctor and davros set (a bit more budget invested into affording the 6th doctor paint apps)
green jumper 9 with either a regenerated metaltron dalek (the newer accurate sculpt with the gold band around the midsection) or one of the various variants of dalek from parting of the ways (would love an updated sculpt claw arm dalek)
Clara (using an ace body with new head sculpt) and 1960s design dalek from the magicians apprentice

If it were just miscellaneous sets:
Romana 2 (using missy body if head sculpt fits) and jagaroth from city of death
3 in cape/axon man with axon creature
Sarah jane smith from part 1 (using donna body- coat would disguise inaccuracies similar to destiny romana) and Krynoid
Season 16 Tom and a rotocast ogri (possible on a b&m budget??)
Dufflecoat 7 and haemovore using a body similar to that of a haemovore from curse of fenric (new head and hand sculpt)
2 pack mondasian cybermen from the doctor falls (new head and chest sculpting, again only if possible on a B&M budget)
13 with hi-vis jacket piece over costume and kerblam man (using 3 doctors brigadier body- new pvc torso wrap, head and hands, and possible a parcel)

on a really really fortunate day, an axon man body could be retooled for certain figures i.e
nimon 2 pack (new hands, head, lower legs and robe piece)
sensorite 2 pack (new hands, head and lower legs)
    voord 2 pack(same as above)

If these were distributed in the same way that the 13th Doctor range released earlier this year (Judoon captain, Graham, red top 13th Doctor and recon Dalek) was, then these sets would be perfect.

A good looking set. B&M are doing us proud (despite the distribution glitches). The new Dalek paint jobs just seem to be getting better. I’m lucky enough to live in the North so have had access to the previous sets and they are stunning.
If only they could produce an Ainley master figure as the SDCC specials that occasionally come up on Ebay are out of my price range.

I agree, both with the quality of the B&M range and the desire for an Ainley Master. 50th Anniversary of the Master next year so hopefully a re-release is on the cards?! Will be nice to get a Dhawan Master in the new releases as well.

I wonder if you could do a Dhawan master with the regen Capaldi and new head and new paint apps.

    • TimelordTim

      November 4th, 2020 - 5:42pm

Certainly a very good place to start for Dhawan, although would need to use new leg sculpt to get the shorter trousers. Or could use legs from Jodie with Capaldi regen body and new head sculpt?

I don’t get why some people are complaining… I am lucky enough to have one of the original Imperial Dalek figures from the 2009 double pack that came with the 7th Doctor and whilst yes, it’s not 100% screen accurate, it is still clearly an Imperial Dalek from ‘Remembrance…’ and it looks great when put next to cream jacketed 7th Doctor figure.

Knowing C/O, they will have slightly improved the paint apps in this 2020 re-release, much as they did with the 1st Doctor era Daleks from the recent B&M sets. Plus, given that these Imperial Daleks fetch anything between £40 – 60 each on ebay, people should be glad that these are getting a re-release… and with an Ace figure included too. What a bargain for £20 🙂

lets be fair its only a handful of people complaining here (and elsewhere) in the scheme of things.

Some people don’t live an breath forums so might not be aware the original “moulds” no longer exist and new ones at B&M budgets are just out of the question.

  • Martino

    November 2nd, 2020 - 11:17am

After an easy pass for Davros, B&M have presented me with another must-have purchase. No issue with the mesh here, if anything it’s nice to have a slight variant. I notice that the people moaning about screen accuracy never demanded a tatty screen-accurate Destiny Dalek… 😉

Why are people constantly moaning… it looks like an imperial dalek. If you want 100% accuracy then you’ll have to pay a great deal more as it will involve retooling parts.

Part of the coarse, there is hardly a post goes by now without complaining of some sort.

    • daz

      November 2nd, 2020 - 11:16am

It is mad but once you have put them on the shelf or in a cabinet you won’t notice the slight inaccuracies.

I’ve got no space for anymore classic CO Daleks now. But as I collect Eaglemoss too those Daleks help that itch.

I even sold my 2nd Mechanus CO Dalek so have room for future CO figures.

    • John

      The Jungles of Mechanus Set

      The Bomber Dalek (Wrong Paint)
      Every NS Dalek before 2008
      The Silver Gun Genesis Dalek

looks great so far, but i got some pros and cons.

    Pros
    1. Ace’s face applications are well improved
    2. The Dalek now uses the short eyestalk from the necros dalek which is accurate.
    3. The Dalek now has the correct eye color, silver iris and gold pupil.

    Cons
    1. the Dalek has mesh sculpted on but on the program it was flat
    2. Ace didn’t come with a baseball bat or the Nitro-9’s which is a bummer

    • booboo

      November 1st, 2020 - 11:54am

they didn’t close before as they sell “essentials” such as food, cleaning and pet products.

Whether they tape off all the “non essential” isles like toys remains to be seen.

    • xxadamscottxx

      November 4th, 2020 - 9:25pm

They probably will cut off toys as they have in Wales until our lockdown ends on the 9th November so hopefully for us in Wales we’ll finally get the October sets as well as the 12 davros and Ace dalek sets since Wales started not long after they were released it was only 2 weeks after roughly but in England they’ll probably not even put them on the shelves till after lockdown

    • daz

      November 5th, 2020 - 10:15am

Don’t think they will. Supermarkets are still allowed to sell non-essential items in England as they remain open so B&M will do the same.

Bad for smaller shops that don’t also sell food as they are closed.

    • Anonymous

      November 5th, 2020 - 10:48am

I work at b&m and no toys won’t be sealed off as due to selling food we count as essential thankfully working nights let’s me see when the new sets are in however they haven’t been released in our store yet as we have loads of last 3 figure packs still

I’ve still got the original REMEMBRANCE set that Character put out years ago, and remember thinking (and still do) that the eye stalks look wrong… too short and stubby.
Looking at this new set it looks to be much the same odd eye-stalk… which I guess means when the History sets reach REMEMBRANCE it still wont be fixed (if indeed if needs to be fixed… it may just be my eyes that are wrong after all 🙂 )

Yeah.. but not that short surely… and the Renegade Daleks from that set have the same stubby eyestalks as well. To me they just look a little odd, proportionately…

      October 31st, 2020 - 3:53pm

Mind you, I don’t want it to appear that I’m knocking Character Options here with my niggles about the REMEMBRANCE Dalek eyestalk… I very, very much applaud them for bringing out these new sets, and especially the Dalek history sets… I’m really looking forward to the possibility of a reissued Suicide Dalek from DESTINY further down the line…

    • Robbie Martin

      November 2nd, 2020 - 2:20am

No actually its a new eyes stalk not to dissimilar but it isnt one yet used on an imperial yet. This eye was used during the toys r us 50th anniversary doctor dalek 2 packs more specifically the eye used on the necros and renegade dalek figures…. hopefully this makes you more hopeful

I wouldn’t recommend waiting for any B&M Dalek or TARDIS set to go down in price! They are the ones that sell out. Wait by all means for the three figure sets, as they stick around and get reduced, but if you see any Dalek or TARDIS set in store and you want them i would always say buy them straight away.

    • John

      November 2nd, 2020 - 12:43pm

No B&M set has been reduced since the Cybermen and Sontaran wave and certainly no Daleks. That’s 3 waves with no discounts so I wouldn’t hold your breath!

Now that a 2 week “Circuit Breaker” lockdown is almost certain in England as of next week, I wonder if the 2 new sets will be put on hold? I know B&M stayed open during the last national lockdown, but they may be told to only sell essential items?

they probably cant stop the shipment but they could be held back in the B&M warehouse if people cant buy non essentials

As a matter of interest for any one in Wales that may have been to B&M recently do they have all the non essential isles shut off?

    • Coleman

      October 31st, 2020 - 11:28am

Davros, I been mentioning this for weeks about whether B&M will be able to transport toys, but no one’s took any notice of me.
Only replys I’ve had is B&M is always open so w’ill be ok.
      (I’m not so sure).

    • booboo

      October 31st, 2020 - 11:53am

B&M have been able to transport toys and anything else for that matter as their shops have remained fully open throughout.

They were still able to sell them in the last lockdown as they remained open because they sold food and house hold essentials.

The difference in this next lockdown if it happens, which has only just hit the news, is that shops that can remain open may only be allowed to sell essentials like Wales which will certainty not include toys.

They can still transport them to stores and leave them in the stock room ready to go out when the lockdown ends if the choose.

    • Coleman

      October 31st, 2020 - 12:00pm

BooBoo, the covid situation is very fluid at the moment, and two weeks ago when I mentioned transportation the situation was still very fluid.
Don’t know how anyone can be so certain?

    • booboo

      October 31st, 2020 - 12:10pm

Two week ago there was no suggestion of another lockdown, (and you didn’t know about these sets 2 weeks ago so i wouldn’t have applied ) even in level 3 shops remain fully open.

If you are looking for a reason why the stock isn’t down south then transportation has nothing to do with it, they managed to get all the Halloween stuff everywhere

    • booboo

      October 31st, 2020 - 12:15pm

Although B&M had argued that it should be up to Welsh customers’ “discretion” to decide what is and isn’t essential, the toy shelves in the branch I went past today were taped up.

This is a great set and Ace’s backpack and rocket launcher that is included is really good to see. This isn’t a moan but more a confusion, why does the doctor figures never get their accessories. We are told it’s budgetary reasons and first off I accepted that, then we see sets where other characters get there’s at no difference in price. Why no Sonics, umbrellas or recorders there is no new tooling, they all exist. Again in the witches familiar set the doctor doesn’t get his new blue screwdriver that came in the previous variant of this 12th doctor costume.

    • Coleman

      October 31st, 2020 - 11:40am

Would make perfect sense since these are toys aimed at small children, they wouldn’t want the risk of any choking hazards.

To be honest prototype, I wouldnt have even packaged the gun, very risky if you ask me. I think I’d have used the machine guns but nothing smaller.

    • Slitheen71

      October 31st, 2020 - 7:19pm

Just like the budgetary reason, the no tiny parts explanation makes perfect sense first off.
Then they give the sontarans their wand guns and the brig gets a tiny pistol both which are smaller than umbrellas and just as easy for small children to swallow as sonics.
      Still confused.

    • TimelordTim

      October 31st, 2020 - 10:28am

Budget sets are for the general market and need the sales from casual buyers as well as collectors to be successful; plus they can’t just switch to online when they have already been made for and sold to B&M (which may have been agreed before Covid). If another lockdown arrives that prevents non-essential items being sold then they will just be held in warehouse, or taped off on shelf, until we can all shop more safely.

CO are do something people have been asking for for ages in the only way possible for these types of sets. What some people are looking for just isn’t possible within B&M budgets and most people understand that.

      Well said booboo,

I hate these Karen’s and male Karens complaining this and that,

We have amazing sets, be great full.

I stand corrected – I wasn’t aware it had been re-tooled for another variant.

      Hear hear!

Booboo you are completely right. We have been clamouring for a re-release of Imperial daleks for years. It has become one of the most scarce and expensive figures.

CO literally asked collectors what they would like to see re-released and a vast majority said classic sontarans, New Series Davros and imperial daleks. We are getting them all in budget sets- and in a year we have already had SIX new headsculpts for long-awaited companions and UNIT. What more could we want?

We are spoiled. Particularly given the limitations of budgets.

Excellently said booboo. I can’t remember the last time we saw a year like this one for so many re-releases of such sought after figures and new sculpts. We have been spoilt, long may it continue (which it can only do so with budget sets).

Makes me glad I’ve got the 2 original Imperial Daleks from the ROTD set and Dalek and 7th Doctor set as it is still my favourite classic story.

But even with the mesh it is great that Collectors have another chance to get them if they missed out first time round.

Dalekpigslave, I,m sure ‘Karen’ Gillan would be glad you said that.

I thought that too. They did have the correct mould. They could have used this kind of effect for the Renegade Dalek from the 2013 anniversary set with the Seventh Doctor.

They haven’t use the standard Dalek mesh and slats, it is the Imperial Dalek slats with the panelling behind, it’s just they have added the mesh effect to it. This is because I believe the original tooling parts no longer exist sadly.

This is the set out of the two I predict will be the most difficult to locate. ‘The Coal Hill School’ Dalek and Ace set is much more appealing than ‘The Witch’s Familiar’ 12th Doctor and Davros set. In my opinion of course.

I’ll just buy them from ebay like I usually do. Just need some seller’s with items in hand & I’ll snap them both up!

I love this set. I really do. Fans of the Seventh Doctor have been made happy with sets in recent years and it’s great to think that there is a wide-release 7th Doctor figure circulating the internet at long last. This adds to that by giving us a well-loved companion from a well-loved story and a well-remembered Dalek. So, all in all, this is brilliant.

    HOWEVER…

Judging by the recent north-south divide in B&Ms with the sets in, I reckon its highly likely that I won’t get this set. That and the fact that my local B&M is VERY small.

I agree. None of the sets from the new wave have been here on the south coast and not expecting these either. I have been working out how much this will cost me on eBay now and not sure I’m going to continue collecting. With these sets it looks like £250-300 on eBay. It’s ridiculous.

I do think this is a one off ( i hope), and although eBay and Amazon will be eventually be aswash with them that may force price down in the long run, its a bit of an “if” but i hope that’s what happens if these really do never find their way down South.

I love the fact that this Ace figure, an underground toys SDCC 2013 excl. I think, tell me if I’m wrong, is selling for £75 on Amazon. Thank God for re-releases. Hope to see a first doctor one soon. The only doctor missing in my collection.

Brilliant! I got the Silver Nemesis Ace for £8 recently and don’t collect that many Daleks, so not for me. But I’ll still be picking this up as they will go perfect with my mum’s set of 7th, Davros and exploded Dalek.

Looks great! Although i did think it would include the destroyed Imperial Dalek to match the rocket launcher. Hopefully we’ll still see a re-release of that at some point.
I’ve gotnthe origional imperial Dalek but still sealed in its box with the 7th Dr so it will be great to get this to open up.
I’m guessing the arms on Ace are still removable so you can take the jacket off.
