Doctor Who B&M Exclusive 2019 8th Doctor / Dalek Set

Comments are disabled on all B&M posts so they can be concentrated in the Stocks Arrive thread.

Character Options presents a set of three unique Doctor & Dalek Twin Packs, inspired by the Doctor Who audio series from Big Finish.

Sets will be available in B&M stores from Late August

This includes a brand new take on the Eighth Doctor, plus the Dalek Interrogator Prime. The two additional Doctor and Daleks sets to be released from this range will feature the Seventh and War Doctors respectively.

There will be a second and much more limited version of each set with slight variations and exclusive to Big Finish. These will arrive shortly after the B&M stock and there will only be 150 of each.

Images shown here are of the mass market B&M Sets. The will be 1000’s of these available in stores

Both the B&M set and the Big Finish sets are marked as Limited Editions.

Following the announcement earlier in June of this summer’s Big Finish-inspired Doctor Who merchandise from Character Options, a first preview image has been made available as a taste of what is to come.

The image released is that of the Eighth Doctor and Dalek set featuring a new version of the Doctor action figure in his ‘Dark Eyes’ inspired costume, along with Interrogator Dalek.

Steve Berry, Head of Marketing at Big Finish said: “We are delighted to be working with Character Options on this project and cannot wait to see the items in store. Since the news broke that the sets will soon be available, we have been inundated with requests for an image. We hope that this small taste will add to the excitement of the Character Options online reveal taking place in July.”

The new Big Finish items will be all part of a wider line-up of Character Options Doctor Who figures and accessories coming to B&M retail stores this summer.

Al Dewar, Creative Director at Character Options commented: “As you can imagine we’ve been keeping this inventive collaboration under wraps for a while so it’s fantastic to be able to release this first image of these unique additional sets to the B&M store range. As announced previously we plan to do a full unveiling live, which will take place ‘unboxing style’ on Character Options’ own You Tube channel in July; details of the time and date will be announced soon.”

I wonder what they did with all the 9th Doctor heads…no doubt put them a side for the next B&M special…9th Doctor head on War doctor body.

Wow, this is amazing! I wasn’t expecting them to do 8 in this costume! Love the way they have done it and wow… after so long- it feels amazing to see an NSD slimmer sculpt Dalek being released again and I love the paint apps (nicely surprised by some weathering too) ahhh cannot wait to see the rest!

The Packaging is looking great too! 😀

most people seem more than happy, just those few that expect far to much from these sets

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:57pm

The one in the box actually looks very different, the sculpt and paint are much sharper

      June 27th, 2019 - 6:01pm

yes these maybe early samples i suppose.

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:54pm

I’m surprised they didn’t use the Eighth Doctor head from the War Doctor figure. That looked more like the Dark Eyes version

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:48pm

Am I reading right that there are two releases of these sets ?

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:53pm

Yes, a B&M version where there will be 1000’s, and 150 slightly tweaked versions exclusive to BF

My Guesses for the rest are
The War Doctor and The Dalek Time Controller
TV Movie 7 (wishful thinking) and Dalek from Daleks Among Us or Remembrance 7 and Dalek
    5th Doctor & Tardis
    4th Doctor & season 14-17 Tardis
Invasion of Time set with Tom, Time Lord and Sontaran
Battlefield with McCoy, Ace and Brig
Two Doctors Set with Hawaiian Waistcoat 6, Peri repaint and old pat
plus the sonics but I have no interested in them.
the Dalek/7 set is the most unlikely the rest are possible though not very exciting.

      June 28th, 2019 - 5:23pm

Actally movie 7th is possible with a bit of mix and match… basically using the talons fourth doctor torso (from the 70’s set) and the arms and legs and head of the 7th painted in the movie colours… doubt it will happen but is more or less possible. Yeah the hair will be wrong but if they use the hated 7th sculpt then it probably won’t look so bad. But doubt it will happen this time but who knows…

That’s just lazy. I get they don’t make new figures anymore, but they could at least give him his bag and screwdriver. I’ve seen customs better than this.

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:31pm

NO new tooling B&M sets, go buy you customs and leave others to appreciate whats coming.

    • Anonymous

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:36pm

      Aye, sorry for my opinion

    • Dan Fellows

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:41pm

Why no new figures made? For all the reasons previously stated. It’s not lazy at all! This is a good way to have variations for those who haven’t the skill or time to customise. Personally, I haven’t seen a decent customisation of this.

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:47pm

I understand the B&M sets don’t have new figures, but I just miss the days when we got brand new figures on a regular basis. We’re lucky if we get one a year anymore.

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:56pm

Yes but that’s not B&M’s fault, you need to take these for what they are. If its not for you then fine, esides if it weren’t for their commitment there would be nothing at all.

I’ve seen a lot of good customs and even repainted figures that look brilliant but people spend hours doing it, you can’t have that for £20

      July 13th, 2019 - 3:28am

They could’ve used that rare Primeval bag and given him his TV Movie sonic. Not entirely accurate but hey it’s something.

  • James

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:28pm

He’s a doctor. Although probably not the one you were expecting. Lol good to see he is the first one to be released.

  • Nicholas

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:26pm

Now I just pray my store gets these in…

  • Totalbritish25

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:26pm

so wait I am confused are only going to be 150 of these for b&m

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:29pm

no, 1000’s for B&M, Big finish will only have 150 of each which will have slight variations over the B&M ones.

    • Gareth Pugh

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:31pm

Totalbritish25 – no. BMI should have a few thousand of what you see here. Big Finish will have exclusive ultra limited runs 150 of each Doctor/Dalek set with some ‘slight tweaks’ (don’t know whether that is in the packaging or actual slight variations on the figures themselves) compared to the standard BMI sets. Hope that helps.

    • Totalbritish25

      June 27th, 2019 - 6:41pm

ah that’s good then cause I really want all these b&m set’s don’t really care about the big finish slight change ones if I can at least get the b&m ones I will be good

I’m like never excited for anything Figure related. But this puts a smile on my face

  • Omega63

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:20pm

I know these aren’t aimed to mass market as such but I do worry that if mainstream TV stuff doesn’t always work then will niche audio do any better? Either way I’m very glad it’s being released!

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:26pm

Jo public probably doesn’t follow the same ins and outs of this costume / that Dalek as forums do, they will just see a Doctor Dalek set which they haven’t had before which is enough to sell it, add to that the core collector market and perhaps a new market with Big Finish followers and they should do fine

    • Omega63

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:31pm

That’s a fair point. As long as they stick with mainstream villains and existing TV show characters that ALSO appear in Big Finish. I imagine they wouldn’t afford new sculpting for characters like Lucy Miller etc.

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:33pm

Just can’t see that. B&M as well, this is big investment for them so they will want a good return, CO have probably had to put these together for peanuts. Packaging look great as well

  • Dan Fellows

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:10pm

Ah I guessed right then re the 8th Dr figure. 🙂 A neat twist that doesn’t look cobbled together.

Wonder if it be right about the Two Drs set? Perhaps 6th Dr without jacket by using shirt & waistcoat of YANA/ Master?

  • Daz

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:03pm

I don’t know “Dark Eyes” as I don’t listen to the audios but this looks like a nice set for people who follow those adventures, also nice to see more 8th Doctor stuff.

  • Mark Belsom.

    June 27th, 2019 - 5:01pm

Yes please,a very simple but looks the part.

Will it come with a sonic screwdriver

    • booboo

      i don’t think so

    • BrunoB

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:30pm

The sonic that goes with that doctor is very different. There’s many 3D prints of it available online

  • Mark

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:54pm

I’ll be continuing my collection with this… it’s going to be a fantastic summer

  • SamWho

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:49pm

    Love it very inventive

  • Prydonian

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:49pm

I don’t get they are calling that blue/silver Dalek an ‘Interrogator’ when it’s obviously the Eternity Circle Dalek from Engines of War?

    • Anonymous

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:05pm

Huh yeah you are right, perhaps they wanted two war doctor dalek figures and this was the only way to get them to agree with two by pairing it with 8 and a different name.

    • Anonymous

      July 13th, 2019 - 8:41am

You do realise that Engines of War is a novel, don’t you?

  • R1ch1e

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:49pm

These look so cool. It’s such a shame that by the time I get to B+M they will all be sold out

  • Whofan44

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:47pm

I so need to get this. Not a normal figure buyer so does anyone know what the normal price for this would be.

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 4:50pm

£19.99 a set, there will also be some Big finish exclusive sets which will have slight differences, not sure on cost of those they will be very limited as well

    • Whofan44

      June 27th, 2019 - 5:01pm

Hmm might be a push to be able to afford it as starting to struggle to afford all the releases as it is.

  • Jamie

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:40pm

    Ooh nice!

  • Whovianpop93

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:40pm

The doctor looks like a primeval figure with a head swap. The dalek is a simple repaint. Im dissapointed.

    • Jamie

      June 27th, 2019 - 4:41pm

I knew we would see comments like this…. We always knew there would be no new sculpt.

    • booboo

      June 27th, 2019 - 4:42pm

you shouldn’t be, everyone was told that’s what they would be, people setting the bar to high again. These are B&M sets but at least people are getting something totally different

    • DoctorOsgoodTARDIS

      June 27th, 2019 - 4:49pm

It’s the 9th doctors body and is practically a perfect depiction of the 8th dark eyes costume with its repaint, I think its brilliant, can not see the issue

    June 27th, 2019 - 4:38pm
