Available to order from www.bigfinish.com
Torchwood returns in 2020 (and also at sometime in the 1800s)
The future of Torchwood is so bright, they’ve gotta wear shades!
Cardiff’s most clandestine team of elite operatives will return in a new monthly series of Big Finish full-cast audio dramas, beginning in April 2020, and available to pre-order individually or in bundles from today!
The continuing series, originally created for television by Russell T Davies, has been produced on audio by Big Finish Productions, in association with BBC Studios, since 2015. Led by the irrepressible Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), former Time Agent and companion to the Doctor, these all-new adventures find members of the Torchwood team caught up in a series of perilous events.
Next month’s release, Dissected, features Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) co-starring in their first Torchwood story together since 2008.
Then, after a brief respite from alien incursions in March, the Torchwood team will reassemble for more adventures in a full set of twelve regular monthly releases from April. The first four titles and writers have now been released, as follows:
April
Tropical Beach Sounds and Other Seascapes Vol 4 by Tim Foley
May
Iceberg by Grace Knight
June
Dinner and a Show by Gareth David-Lloyd
July
Save Our Souls by Scott Handcock
Already confirmed to return areOwen Harper (Burn Gorman), Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori), Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) and Queen Victoria herself (played by Rowena Cooper). And there will be plenty more surprises along the way.
Producer of Big Finish’s Torchwood range, James Goss, said: “If you’ve never listened to a Torchwood audio adventure before, now’s a great time. The next set of stories are unpredictable, messy, sometimes funny, and sometimes horrible. In these four announced titles alone, an alien opera arrives in Cardiff, Queen Victoria battles ghosts from the future, a Mars Base turns up just off the A474, and a malevolent entity takes over the voice of… well, you’ll just have to wait and see…”
Please note that Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.
All confirmed Torchwood monthly releases are available for individual pre-order as collector’s edition CDs at £10.99 or on download from the Big Finish website at £8.99.
Subscribers to the Big Finish Torchwood range can save money by pre-ordering a bundle of forthcoming stories. A six-release bundle is £60 on CD or £50 on download, or you can save even more money by ordering all twelve Torchwood releases together at £110 on CD or £94 on download.

January 23rd, 2020 - 3:06pmWith it now being even more unlikely to return to television as time goes by, and Doctor Who having dispensed of them (along with UNIT), I’m glad to see Big Finish carry on the flame. Remember when our show was creative and great enough to actually spawn spin-offs?

January 23rd, 2020 - 3:39pmAll the spins-offs to Doctor Who have been nowhere as good as the main show (like with most spin offs except for Frasier).
The show is still creative and great so I don’t feel it needs any spin-offs as the show never did in the classic era. Unit vanished for a long time after the 3rd Doctors era their inclusion in new who was only ever really a cameo along with Torchwood.

January 24th, 2020 - 12:13pmDaz, I actually disagree. I think the most interesting parts of Doctor Who are the stories the Doctor isn’t in aka the spin offs
They allow us to look at far more complex characters who either aren’t worthy of travelling with the doctor (Quill), get left behind (Sarah Jane or Jack) or choose to leave (leela n romana) , and you get to see them being stuck somewhere and actually having to deal with the consequences of their actions and their lives. They can’t just jump in a box and runaway
idk I feel like they can explroe so much more and have much more edge than you can really explore in who 🙂
