A Kaleidoscopic Adventure
Journey to the Third Doctor’s era of psychedelic fashion, bouffant hair and 1970s gadgetry in an action-packed full-cast audio drama, due for release in October 2022 by Big Finish Productions.
Tim Treloar returns as the dapper Third Doctor — originated on television by Jon Pertwee — in a colourful Season 11 adventure, alongside Sadie Miller as Sarah Jane Smith and Jon Culshaw as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart.
In this six-part tale, written by Alan Barnes, the iconic TARDIS team encounter an alien space messiah known as Kaleidoscope — played by classically-trained actor Gerran Howell (Suspicion, Young Dracula, Catch-22). Plus, for the first time in an audio drama, the Doctor will take to the road in the Whomobile – the silver flying car which belonged (in real life) to Jon Pertwee himself.
Doctor Who — The Third Doctor Adventures: Kaleidoscope is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set (+ download for just £19.99) or a digital download only (for just £16.99), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.
Producer Heather Challands said: “It’s always a pleasure to return to the 1970s with the Third Doctor and UNIT! This time, the Third Doctor is joined by Sarah Jane Smith and the Brigadier in another epic!
“It was wonderful to see the response to our seven-part series The Annihilators and we’re following it up with a six-parter that promises to be no less majestic in scale or location with a strong supporting cast and a wonderful script by Alan Barnes. I wish I could tell you more but that’s a secret for now…”

July 11th, 2022 - 9:01pmI’m sold! After hesitating with these Third Doctor releases for a long while, I finally took a punt on The Annihilators, and I loved it. I’ve since sampled many more of Tim Treloar’s stories and I’ve been really impressed. Even though he isn’t Jon Pertwee, the love, care and respect shown to the Third Doctor and his era puts these releases right at the top of the list for me. Can’t wait for this one now! Fab.
