Big Finish The Eighth Doctor – The Time War 4

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Davros and the Daleks versus the Time Lords

As exclusively revealed in issue 550 of Doctor Who Magazine, the Eighth Doctor will come face to face with Davros, the creator of the Daleks, in the next installment of Doctor Who: Time War.

A stellar cast joins this full-cast audio drama alongside Paul McGann as the Doctor, including Rahkee Thakrar (Bliss), Terry Molloy (Davros), Adèle Anderson (Major Tamasan), Ken Bones (the General), Julia McKenzie (the Twelve) and Nicholas Briggs (the Daleks).

The Time War rages through space and time – two powerful enemies in a fight to the death. The Doctor keeps to the fringes of the conflict, helping where he can. He is not a warrior. Not yet. But this war takes no prisoners, and friends and enemies are drawing the Doctor ever closer to his destiny.

The Eighth Doctor – The Time War volume 4 is now available to pre-order at £22.99 as a collector’s edition CD box set and £19.99 as a digital download, exclusively from the Big Finish website.

The Eighth Doctor and Bliss are dragged into the Time War as the Daleks replenish their army, using Davros himself.

The Eighth Doctor – The Time War volume 4 contains four terrifying tales:

  • 4.1 Palindrome by John Dorney
  • 4.2 Palindrome by John Dorney

In an alternative universe, Davros lives in peace, until the Doctor and Bliss arrive, and the Daleks emerge in a new reality.

  • 4.3 Dreadshade by Lisa McMullin

The Time Lords, including the General and the Twelve, adjust to life after the Time War, until the Doctor and Bliss return with a warning.

  • 4.4 Restoration of the Daleks by Matt Fitton

The Dalek Time Strategist restores the Dalek armies to the universe, but wants to dispense with Davros.

Producer David Richardson said: “Ever since the Time War erupted at Big Finish, we’ve had plans for Davros’s grand entrance into the maelstrom. And here he is – back in our Doctor Who audios after too many years, a good decent man living a happy domestic life with his wife Charn on a thriving, peaceful Skaro… Something must have gone wrong with time…”

Director Helen Goldwyn added: “It never fails to thrill when you’re in studio with characters like Davros and of course the Daleks, as we record with the effect on the voices and can picture the action so clearly. To hear Terry Molloy so immersed in the role of Davros is terrifying and impressive in equal measure! Put him opposite Paul’s Doctor and you know you’re in the presence of two actors of enormous skill and experience.”

The Eighth Doctor – The Time War volume 4 is now available to pre-order at £22.99 as a five-disc collector’s edition CD box set and £19.99 as a digital download, exclusively from www.bigfinish.com

Big Finish listeners can save money by ordering a bundle of all four Eighth Doctor Time War box sets for £88 as a collector’s edition CD set, or £80 as a digital download, again from the Big Finish website.

Please note that Big Finish is currently operating a digital-first release schedule. The mailout of collector’s edition CDs will be delayed, but all purchases of this release unlock a digital copy that can be immediately downloaded or played on the Big Finish app from the release date.

Yes. This probably won’t be the last time Big Finish will do stuff to do with the Time War (hopefully)…

I think there’s only one way to find out….

Its possible it could be the last 8th Doctor Time War set but I suspect it won’t be.

Given that the range often appears in Big Finish’s top 4 highest selling Doctor Who box sets, I think there’s a strong case they would surpass 4 box sets. Even last year when we had released such as the Legacy of Time, Ravenous 3&4 and Dairy of River Song 5, the Eighth Doctor Time War was #4 in top sales. Given that the range’s releases are annual as well (rather than 2-3 a year) I wouldn’t be surprised if, like New Series UNIT, the range gets a 4 box set extension but I would expect this to be announced until after Time War 4 is released

      No it wont be.

Big Finish have always stated that they will be staying clear of night if the doctor and will not link up to it.

10 stated that Davros was “lost in the first year of the timewar”. the war lasted “400 years” chronically for gallifrey.

Time war 8 is a very popular set so wont end. Those around back in 2015 will remember that timewar 8 was only ever meant to be 1 set…………

I don’t listen to many of these so I’m confused a bit.
That’s Terry Molloy’s Davros sitting in the modern version of Davro’s chair with the mechanical hand, so we are saying that redesign came in long before we saw it on TV.
As the war started Davros chucked that emperor chair in the bin and built himself a new one based on his old one.
I also guess Davros was pretending to be just a head and shoulders in “Remembrance” after all the cheeky scamp.

Just forget the continuity and enjoy the story. There aren’t different davros’s its always the same character just a different actor.

I know, I rather like the continuity however I like to imagine how stuff comes together like how we saw the beginnings of the 9th Doctor and his Tardis in the 50th episode.
I have no doubt it’s always the same Davros of course I just like the idea he said “Right it’s war is it!…I need a new chair…a bigger one so I look more intimidating”

      I think it’s a rights issue

How is it a rights issue. Big finish can do whatever they want now.

I remember something about a legal requirement regarding Davros where they can’t use his new series likeness. Doesn’t really matter since Molloy is the better Davros.

Well not everyone shares your opinion. I’m more concerned with the right issue.

Big finish can’t do whatever they want. They still have to get the rights to various characters.

Exactly they lost the rights to use the Rani… So yeah

How come they lost the rights to the rani?

How do you lose the rights to the Rani. Big finish also use images of actors not even in the production so no problem.

When have they used pictures of actors not in the production?

Literally every companion Chronicle and early adventure.

Also class volume 3 and 4

    • TARDIS_H63

      April 4th, 2020 - 4:21pm

Class Volumes 3 and 4 do not use any images of actors that are not in the stories.

The companion chronicles stories still all have to be cleared for rights. If a companion or villain is on a cover big finish have obtained the rights to that character.

I think they lost the rights when Jane Baker Died.

This sounds awesome! The Davros on the cover looks a bit odd: they’ve blended the Molloy Davros with the New Series Davros for some reason…
