Big Finish 8th Doctor Audacity

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Since January 2001, the Eighth Doctor has enjoyed an extended run of adventures on audio with a whole host of companions. Now, the TARDIS takes us back in time – to meet a new fellow traveller, and an unexplored era of the Doctor’s timeline.

Jaye Griffiths debuts as the noblewoman, Lady Audacity Montague, who is about to be propelled from Regency England into the far future and the war between the Cybermen and Vogans.

Producer David Richardson said: “We’re exploring a different era of the Eighth Doctor’s adventures, when he made a new friend. We’re long before Lucie Miller, the Ravenous, Baker Street or the Time War and we’ve got the wonderful Jaye Griffiths bringing Audacity to life brilliantly. Hang on? (I hear you cry) Didn’t Jaye recently play Hieronyma Friend in Time War: Cass? Ssshh… Spoilers…”

Doctor Who – The Eighth Doctor Adventures: Audacity and In the Bleak Midwinter are each available to pre-order for just £19.99 (collector’s edition CD box set + download) or £16.99 (download only) per title, exclusively here.

Big Finish listeners can also save money by pre-ordering both box sets together in a bundle for just £38 (collector’s edition CD box set + download) or £33 (download only).

The two adventures in The Eighth Doctor Adventures: Audacity are:

  • The Devouring by Lisa McMullin (1 part)
  • The Great Cyber War by Tim Foley (2 parts)

The three adventures in The Eighth Doctor Adventures: In the Bleak Midwinter are:

  • Twenty-Four Doors in December by John Dorney (1 part)
  • The Empty Man by Tim Foley (1 part)
  • Winter of the Demon by Roy Gill (1 part)

Love that cover, good to get more early eighth doctor. Plus the revenge Cybermen are my favorite Cybermen design (well and the invasion design too).

@prowl 1701,Since The Invasion was the one of my earliest memories of Doctor Who and season 6 the first season can I remember. I have always regarded The Invasion Cybermen design the best too. The Revenge of the Cybermen is highly underrated story.

Yeah invasion is one of the best Cybermen stories, but revenge is also one of my personal favorites. Very underrated.

I’d love for some classic Cybermen to come back in the modern show.

An excellent piece of artwork in fact. First time I’ve really taken any notice of anything relating to the 8th Doctor.

Seeing those sleek ‘Revenge’ Cybermen AND the Vogans makes that very tempting.

Really like Jaye Griffiths so very excited to hear this!

A good mix of new and old enemies is always welcome. Lovely cover on this too! Have a fondness for the chunky `Revenge` Cybermen!

Glad to finally have the cybermen back with the eighth doctor, it’s been around eleven and a half years since they were last in a story together. Would have liked it to have been with Liv and Helen, as I’ve been hoping for one with them for a while. It might still happen at some point. I’ll take this win for now.

Were the Cybermen not in 2022’s Charlotte Pollard – The Further Adventuress? Or am I mis-remembering due to a story there being a sequel to Sword of Orion?

There was a sequel to Sword of Orion in The Further Adventuress, but for some bizarre reason it featured no Cybermen.

Honestly the eighth doctor may as well just move in with the cybermen and Daleks considering how many times he bumps into them. If you have to chart his life in order he’d literally be bumping into them every other day of the week.

Actually the Cybermen are very rare encounter for the 8th Doctor.

The Eighth Doctor has only had 4 stories with the Cybermen and the last one was in 2011 so it’s hardly a regular occurrence for him. I think he’s overdue another story with them.
