February 12th, 2015 - 5:51pmSomewhen between 2007 and 2010 I saw this train many times running from Guildford (southern most point) to Liverpool or somewhere else in the Midlands.
One just takes it for granted, and then one day its gone or renamed.
I have often wanted to buy the train itself, but have only seen it as part of the set, and prices of £140+ just seemed to extravagent for something where the Doctor Who logo was barely visible.
But it is a perfectly valid piece of merchandise, and we should all be proud that a train was named after Doctor Who.
Doctor Who, at the end of the day, is fiction, and for entertainment purposes, so to have a highly significant passenger service named after this is something for us to celebrate, it could so easily been named after a person that most of us have never heard of.

Anyway, this isn’t a piece of Doctor Who merchandise, it’s a model of a real train that was given the name “Doctor Who” because of the show.

The class 57 Diesel engines were all given the names of the Tracey Brothers from “Thunderbirds” E.G: Scott Tracey. This was given the name “Doctor Who” after the sow since it’s iconic to the people in the UK.
