The Super Voyager No. 221122 was the first Super Voyager I ever travelled on. The Super Voyagers were named after mythical and adventurers there’s even one named Marco Polo! but when Virgin Trains lost the Cross-country contract 221122 was handed to Arriva Crosscountry and lost her Doctor Who nameplates. Unlike the normal Voyagers (class 220’s) the Super Voyagers could tilt

Somewhen between 2007 and 2010 I saw this train many times running from Guildford (southern most point) to Liverpool or somewhere else in the Midlands.

One just takes it for granted, and then one day its gone or renamed.

I have often wanted to buy the train itself, but have only seen it as part of the set, and prices of £140+ just seemed to extravagent for something where the Doctor Who logo was barely visible.

But it is a perfectly valid piece of merchandise, and we should all be proud that a train was named after Doctor Who.

Doctor Who, at the end of the day, is fiction, and for entertainment purposes, so to have a highly significant passenger service named after this is something for us to celebrate, it could so easily been named after a person that most of us have never heard of.

A lot of trains are given names, They are normally named after popular things, like Celebs, Tv shows, Places etc. This model is based of one of a real engine under the name Dr who

“are you serious? trains? who are these for?” As a train enthusiast and a massive fan of Doctor Who, I find that incredibly rude. Could you consider the people who may be reading before posting what you type.

Anyway, this isn’t a piece of Doctor Who merchandise, it’s a model of a real train that was given the name “Doctor Who” because of the show.

it was named Doctor Who, by Colin Baker i believe some years ago, might need correction on that

Technically the model could be classed a Doctor Who merchandise

Some trains are given names relating to iconic names of people, places, TV shows etc.

The class 57 Diesel engines were all given the names of the Tracey Brothers from “Thunderbirds” E.G: Scott Tracey. This was given the name “Doctor Who” after the sow since it’s iconic to the people in the UK.

DRS Class 57/3 No. 57307 is the sole ‘Thunderbird’ named after a character being Lady Penelope as DRS (Direct Rail Services) kept the nameplates as they are painted pink. another 57/3 is called Thunderbird
