We have seen many unreleased CO prototypes and I am assuming the tooling still exist. What there be any reasonable chance of these coming out Via B&M?

Though character have shown they can get away with selling sets for £5 more and still be successful, so might encourage a little bit more investment with continuous success

I am assuming (also bear in mind they are getting all the profits as no selling to others at trade) that this additional revenue would be used for projects that would otherwise not have been possible.

Does anyone know if monstrous beauty issue 1, 2 and 3 will be released as a collected version like all the other comic volumes or do I have to specifically buy the latest Doctor Who magazine to get issue 1. Is this the only way issue 1 will be available?

I think we can presume it will be collected at some point. Either on it’s own or as part of the ongoing collections. I’m buying the three issues and these are the first issues of the normal magazine I’ve bought since 2012. (Stopped because of the price, rather buy a book with the money than a magazine!) Up to you really but I thought I’d buy them. Hopefully the tlv strip will separate in each issue but we’ll see.

Cancelled order. Fp cancelled first magazine so I’ve cancelled the lot. If it’s collected great if it isn’t collected it ain’t the end of the world (there’s other candidates vying for that!)

I will wait for the collected edition because it looks like I won’t be receiving the first part either. This frequently happens with special editions coming to the USA. Also if you just want to read the comic it will cost you $50! I wonder why Panini is so averse to offering their comics in digital formats – is it a rights issue? Would they have to negotiate with all the creators?

At childhood’s end by sophie aldred. Combat magicks by Steve Cole. Silent stars go by by Dan abnett. Hunter’s moon by Paul finch. City of death by James Goss, both versions. And pretty much any target book.

Usually I don’t double-dip on Christmas Specials but I will buy this. I just can’t see it being added to the Series 13 Set when it’s out? Not only have they not started Full Production on Series 13 yet, it won’t get shown until as least Sept/Oct 2021? With DVD Release maybe Jan/Feb 2022? I get the feeling this will be a Stand-Alone Release.

Booboo, just another question about Licensing. I know that a special set of four micro talking Daleks were made by Entertainment Earth as merchandise for the second Dalek movie. However the bodies that were used were not actually a brand new mould but one that had been used for the BBC Talking Daleks.

Should that not present a problem in terms of Licensing?

    Reply
    • booboo

      September 8th, 2020 - 8:21am

not sure how the Daleks work as they actually belong to the Terry Nations estate.

If they and studio canal approved them not sure what the BBC could do about it even if its a compromise. Back then accuracy was not as important as its is now either.

    • Anonymous

      September 8th, 2020 - 3:06pm

It’s a 50/50 copyright. Terry nation estate owns the characters/ BBC owns the design.

    • prototype dalek

      September 8th, 2020 - 11:03pm

I assume movie daleks are solely owned by studio canal, hence why character got away with the recent dalek set due to it being covered by the license as seen on tv. Product enterprise as far as I know did get the studio canal licence for the movies, hence the variety of daleks they did with their range.

In relation to the micro talking daleks, it was just an easy recycle. Use larger ears, bigger base plus a claw arm, keeps costs down with a simple tweking and its enough for a whole new release and dalek. If studio canal approve then BBC can’t do anything and vise versa. Jungles of mechanus set seems to be the red line on what can be done in relation to the movies till a separate license is required.

Main thing with the licensing seems to be the claw arm and whether or not it’s on the dalek, as that was a movie dalek add on so probably held under the studio canal licence and not bbc. Also why we’ll never see the red or black dalek by character unless they get a separate license for them.

    • Anonymous

      September 9th, 2020 - 9:18am

The Peter Cushing daleks are slightly different. The daleks themselves are nation/BBC but because the films they are in are studio canal owned manufacturers can’t just make them as the studio canal copyright for the movies supersedes the character copyright

      September 7th, 2020 - 2:39pm

Audible is an audiobook site but is run by Amazon. Audiobooks purchased there are linked to your Amazon account. A subscription of £7.99 buys one credit a month, and you can redeem this against any title. You can cancel after one month (and retain the listening rights to the title you have purchased) or carry on and find other titles. There are some great Target compilations of Doctor Who stories, for example. It may be cheaper to obtain this way rather than buy individually, but this is also an option. You can then download the Audible app on your phone to listen to, there is no further cost to this, or you can play through any Amazon device or smart speaker.
