April 9th, 2024 - 6:30pmI’m hoping the Friends & Foes set will include the figure that’s been leaked and circulating on eBay the past month or so. Not sure if I’m allowed to say what it is. 🙂

April 9th, 2024 - 7:34pmNo I mean the Brigadier figure from (I think) Invasion of the Dinosaurs.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116077422856
There’s been a few of them popping up the past two months which makes me wonder if there’s a reason for that, such as being featured in the friends and foes set.

April 10th, 2024 - 9:56amno hat?
pupbenny
April 10th, 2024 - 12:59pmPlus a slightly different colour scheme. (Olive trousers instead of green, black gloves instead of brown, brown matte shoes instead of glossy black, etc.) I’d say the no hat is a pretty significant change though. When I picture the Brigadier I always picture him without a hat, so was surprised around half a year ago when I looked into Brigadier figures and realised they’d never done a hatless version.
Seemingly, these have actually been around for a few years with Al Dewar apparently saying that they’re unofficial figures that someone from the factory was making and flogging them. Whether that’s true or not, who knows. But multiple of them have been turning up for sale lately, so it makes you wonder why they’re suddenly turning up now.
Mr Exterminate
April 10th, 2024 - 1:05pmMe too! I love all the action figures and I’m looking forward to the movellans!! I really hope one day there would be a Barbara to go with Ian ❤️
Vladnag
April 10th, 2024 - 6:03pmI hope this Brigadier isn’t part of the three pack, with pretty much an identical figure available in the recent UNIT set, and another variant in the 1970s set I feel like anyone can already get a copy of the character fairly cheap. Unless it’s a re-release of the fully kitted up Three Doctors version I’d consider another Brig a wasted slot.
Vladnag
April 4th, 2024 - 3:21pmIs there any danger of battery corrosion on the Sound FX Daleks if I keep them in their box? I bought 2 of them to open as i’m usually a loose collector, but as my collection is mostly stored away I figured i’d keep them sealed until I have room to display them. They’d most likely be in the attic or under a bed so they’d be out of sunlight in a cool/dry place
I’m just worried there might be some damage over time if I don’t open them up now and remove their batteries!
booboo
April 4th, 2024 - 3:44pmLuck of the drawer i think, batteries can leak and write off an item, corroded contacts etc, i have had that happen.

April 5th, 2024 - 12:29amIf I recall correctly from when they were on sale in Tescos, they should have tab between the batteries

April 4th, 2024 - 12:30pmSome people saying end of the month possibly into May. Looks like the dalek has new tooling on the mesh as the bombs are now attached to the slats rather than the mesh itself. Different positions too

April 4th, 2024 - 3:16pmThat looks amazing! Really excited about all the exclusives that Al has alluded to.
I wonder what the Price will be, if 2 Daleks is usually the same as 3 figures i’m guessing 1 Dalek and 2 figures will be more than a usual 3 pack?
The Outcast
April 4th, 2024 - 3:30pmIt’ll probably be about fourty quid – the new tooling on the Movellans will cost a lot more than anything in a B&M set.
Snowman
April 4th, 2024 - 4:25pmSurprised this is yet another Online Exclusive. I thought The Movellan might end up in a B&M Exclusive this year. I know it’s New Tooling of “One” Figure but the B&M Sets have been know to include New Figures every once on a while. (New Heads, Wraps Etc). Ah Well.
FH
April 4th, 2024 - 11:36pmWell, I’ll be darned. The Who-influencers were right about it being a Movellan 2-pack. Well I know when to eat humble pie! Interesting set.
The Outcast
April 5th, 2024 - 2:43amThe amount of new tooling on the Movellan figures basically guaranteed they were an exclusive, really don’t know why anyone thought they’d be B&M figures.
I shall be picking one of these sets up upon the official announcement. Given the set is complete, I can’t imagine it’ll be too far off.
FH
April 5th, 2024 - 5:17pmI doubt it’ll be forty quid, they simply would hardly sell any if that was the case. They’re still trying to sell three Silurians for fifteen. I’m guessing it’ll be thirty, but I think a more reasonable price would be £25, like the Mechanus set.

March 23rd, 2024 - 6:52pmI don’t mind waiting (I’ve waited 24 years already!) but sooner rather than later would be nice. Considering the low budget, limited time and restricted locations I was always impressed with what was managed. The effects were decent for 1994 on the budget and it has a good cast too. And it’s by the late, great uncle Terrance.
Cheers for the info Gordon.

March 20th, 2024 - 4:26pmWow, that does look epic and the most versatile RC Dalek officially produced (think they could’ve shown it off better in the trailer) but then again for £1666.61 it should be.

March 20th, 2024 - 5:39pmThere’s the option to subscribe on their website… however, if the magazine doesn’t perform well in the “test area”, does this mean any future issues are cancelled?
Also, because it is only being released in a “test area” at the moment, if the magazine becomes successful and is re-released across the country, would subscribers receive duplicate copies of the first few issues?
booboo
March 20th, 2024 - 6:45pmit will come out, its to judge how many are produced but there may be a big gap after the first few issues to full production as happened with EM.
Bear in mind with 140 issues if things start to go wrong as with EM you may have forked out £100’s for something that might never get completed
Mr. Greel
March 20th, 2024 - 8:57pmPlus cost of binders @ £10.99 (7 – first free to subscribers) and there is mention of special issues too (prices not given). Also can’t see price remaining @ £11.99 for over 2 and half years.
Would be great to have complete but would be terrible if ended early due to lack of sales or any company problem as with Eaglemoss. Hope everything works out for anyone who goes ahead and gets it ok but have decided not to get it.

March 20th, 2024 - 11:48pmIts going to be a big build…. but Im afraid Big Chief and Eaglemoss are both ringing nasty bells still.

March 18th, 2024 - 7:47pmI wouldn’t get your hopes up it’ll literally be a re released Doctor and a few existing monsters, we know there’s talk of a ruth Doctor with glasses, wouldn’t be surprised if it was just her and a weeping angel. Shove Yaz in there with a different colour jacket
FH
March 18th, 2024 - 10:36pmThat’s definitely possible, but a few of these kinds of sets have been pretty good. The ones that gave us the Romanas for instance. I know it’s a long shot and I’m probably going to be disappointed but there’s a CHANCE it might be something really good. I don’t really see any indication of there being any new tooling necessary for the other three sets, so MAYBE they put it into this set and gave us something really good and new. Possibly. We’ll see.
daz
March 19th, 2024 - 12:13amIf booboo allows this link you’ll hear all about CO/B&M, Toy Fair, focus on 2023+ going forward, Liz Shaw and young Third Doctor figures in a few years etc…
https://youtu.be/jVcWkOCa2Cc?si=rI0cMRR2ZreCF2Yy
The Outcast
March 19th, 2024 - 8:35amThe three-pack won’t contain a Fugitive Doctor. The glasses version was a hypothetical future variant, not something that’s actually on the cards.
And whilst the three-pack won’t be anything entirely new (e.g. we’re not getting 2013 Cybermen or something), usually we get one or two new heads/bits, so there’ll likely be something new in there.
John
March 19th, 2024 - 2:01pmThere could be a Movellan in there as we know its been prototyped.
FH
March 19th, 2024 - 3:31pmOooooh yeah, I forgot about the Movellan picture… okay, well I’m assuming that’s what it is then, a Movellan 3-pack.
Some folks on Twitter were saying about the picture that it ‘obviously won’t be a 3-pack’, which made no sense at all considering the picture literally showed 3 Movellans. They said it wouldn’t be a three-pack because ‘two of them have exactly the same paintjobs’ which, in my opinion, wasn’t true, they were all blatantly painted differently so I don’t know what this ‘expert’ was on about. Who-influencers grind my gears with their know-it-all attitude, that’s for sure.
Martino
March 19th, 2024 - 4:44pmFrom the get-go with the original Classic Wave 1, Character Options has always surprised and delighted me, and have continued to wow me with the variety of its ‘budget’ releases. What would I like to see in the Friends and Foes pack? Well, the paintwork on my ‘Revenge’ Cybermen has been crumbling for years, and this iconic Cyberman is crying out for a re-release…
FH
March 19th, 2024 - 5:28pmOh wait, I just realised the title ‘Friends & Foes’ would indicate it probably wouldn’t be what was in the leaked picture… Okay, I’m excited again. Also, I’m really excited about the Parting Of The Ways set. If they go that extra mile with new tooling for a PROPER Dalek Emperor guard, I will be very happy.

FH
March 9th, 2024 - 4:06pmIs there a reason CO said they’d never release the Troughton fur coat from the Five Doctors figure? Expenses maybe? Just seems odd to me considering they released the Abominable Snowman version, as an exclusive, yet instantly ruled out releasing a Five Doctors variant, I assume to keep it an exclusive.
Yet now their idea of how exclusive an online exclusive is seems to have changed what with Al casually saying on launch that the Fugitive Doctor will hopefully get a variant, with a tiny change at that. (Which, arguably, has hurt the sales of the Fugitive Doctor set, or been a contributing factor.)
All I’m saying is I’m pretty sure no one who got the Abominable Snowman set would’ve objected to a Five Doctors version. It’d have been considerably different. Now I’ll have to make a custom to complete ‘The Five Doctors’ I have lol.
Snowman
March 9th, 2024 - 4:20pmYes I’m sure it was to keep the original Exclusive. I should imagine it would have Greatly affected sales of the Original Set if CO had mention the Five Doctors Variant would be coming out later in the year (maybe even in a B&M Exclusive Set) I should imagine loads of people would have held off buying to purchase the Other variant (Maybe at a Discount price).

February 23rd, 2024 - 4:02pmI was wondering if the reduced number of sets is possibly linked to a new push on general merchandise. Makes sense to focus less on the ‘budget line’ when you’re pushing/re-launching the main line.

February 26th, 2024 - 5:31pmB&M have IMO dug their own grave in regards to the success – or not – of this range. Poor distribution models, coupled with greedy over – expansion of new stores post – COVID and a desultory and truncated foray into online selling (this admittedly not helped by the Royal Mail strike), have resulted in a situation whereby supplies of these sets are lingering/stagnating in some parts of the country for months on end.
Meanwhile, elsewhere there are genuine fans/collectors like me who can’t get hold of these figures in the nearest five or six branches and are now at a point where we either cannot or will not incur the expense of travelling farther afield or paying scalpers’ prices to get them from Amazon or eBay.
The last time I ventured into my local B&M (which was just before Christmas 2022) there was hardly ANY stock on the toy section shelves, let alone the Doctor Who sets. And no, they hadn’t had a last – minute run on toy sales – the shelves had been like that for weeks. It’s been closed since October due to the floods and I think is due to re – open next month, but I won’t be queuing at the doors to get in when it does. And I can be pretty damn sure there wouldn’t be any Doctor Who figure sets available even if I did.
FH
February 26th, 2024 - 6:02pmAre scalpers really as big of a problem as people make out? I don’t understand this as that hasn’t been my experience at all. Sure the ones that overprice are meh, but who’s really buying from them? Most of the sets I see on there (assuming they’re the recent ones) are hardly a higher price than they are in-store. I literally just casually bought the Hurndall + Dalek set for £22 on eBay the other day. (Cheapest I can see on there now is £24.99 but there were tons for £23.99 when I bought mine.) I paid 1p more than the retail price. That was including postage and packing btw, so ultimately I basically bought it for cheaper than retail price considering I didn’t waste any petrol/travel money doing so. I don’t have a B&M near me so all the sets I’ve ever gotten are from eBay and they’ve all been nice, convenient and cheap. I’m just saying, all this effort going to different stores, etc, do people never think to just look at the cheapest sets on eBay and paying the extra couple of pounds they’d have spent on travel anyway?
Anon
February 26th, 2024 - 6:32pmAnonymouse you are complaining that your local branch hardly had any toys in but then say they had been closed due to flood damage. Perhaps that’s why they had no stock!

February 27th, 2024 - 12:53amFH: Your method only works when there are leftover stocks that B&M sell off at a discount (it’s my method too). It’s no good if you’re a completist, or the sets you want are underproduced and/or popular (e.g. Hartnell TARDIS, earlier Daleks).
Martino
February 27th, 2024 - 11:04amPeople missing the point that really these are collectables, not toys. I have collections that I’ve not been able to ‘complete’ after 20, almost 30 years. If you’re a completist, then you *do* pay what the online market says they’re worth. That’s the joy of collecting. My Dad was a collector of diecast aircraft, which can never be ‘complete’ – he spent years looking for a specific item. You chase items. You enjoy the collecting. If you don’t enjoy the hobby, you’re doing something wrong.

February 19th, 2024 - 11:46amIt seems odd that they would postpone a book that has already been published in hardcover. And I’m sure that I read somewhere on here that they had confirmed that Gatwa will get Targets of a couple of episodes from his first season.
I can’t see them deciding to have no Targets published this year, what with the big push to reinvigorate the show.
Bookcollector
February 19th, 2024 - 1:14pmI’m hoping it’s wrong and we do get more announced. Mind you I’ll not be happy if they are all hardback. Paperback only for me now on.
Bookcollector
February 19th, 2024 - 3:28pmShould clarify. I’m not keen on the hardback target book idea simply because a, they don’t fit easily on shelving and b, when money is tight already hardback books are an unnecessary addition to the mainly paperback target range. If they were only out in hardback then yes I would buy them but considering most of the new BBC books have been direct paperbacks then I think paperbacks are the way they should be done.

February 16th, 2024 - 3:53pmIt’s fascinating how the prices of the exclusive 14th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver SUNK after they were made available again, despite selling out just as quickly. I wonder if this was simply due to it no longer being the current Sonic Screwdriver. Maybe it was the reaction to the specials that caused them to be as undesired? Or simply just the hype no longer being around. Although the hype dying was a predictable metric… Just seems bizarre to me all these people that paid £200 for one that was known was only going to be around for a short while. Sure it wasn’t widely known that there would be new Sonic after the 60th but it WAS known. If you’re going to sink £200 into something you could’ve at least done some research on it beforehand.

February 18th, 2024 - 11:00pmOoh, that’s fascinating! Just watched some videos of people reviewing the bootlegs. Weirdly, they’re not that badly made lol. The light is brighter and actually reaches the tip of the screwdriver, unlike the genuine one. But there’s obvious problems with it too. It’s bizarre to me that they go to great effort in replicating the screwdriver so perfectly, yet it metaphorically falls a part in so many basic areas.

February 19th, 2024 - 3:05amso the only way to tell if the product is genuine is by the character shipper box?

February 19th, 2024 - 11:36amwhats astonishing to me is all parties involved seem to be powerless to stop it, supposed Counterfiert toys and ebay is flooded with them with loads of multiple sellers.

February 19th, 2024 - 12:49pmThings have come a long way since those “rise of the cyberman” sets.
Someone in China has gone along way to produce a near exact bootleg of a toy.
daz
February 19th, 2024 - 3:00pmThe person(s) in china will most likely work at the factory that made the official sonic though. With access to the tooling etc.
booboo
February 19th, 2024 - 3:10pmThings are very odd, saw a suggestion from a (overseas) retailer they bought bootlegs from same source as legitimate CO stock.
Many sellers are also selling standard 14th, 12th and 10th sonics as well as the Ltd 14th “counterfeit” sonics, presumably all fake?
Many are based in Poland but shipping from china, some don’t post full business address (against ebay rules) i assume ebay, CO, trading standards, BBC Studios are all trying to stamp on this with no effect so far. Many of these sellers have had the listing up for weeks.
I’m astonished this is happening in plain site and nothing is being done.

February 19th, 2024 - 3:15pmBearing in mind that so many of these things start off as CAD files now, could someone have got hold of those and used them to produce a more accurate knock off? We know the Chinese factories leak prototypes and early figures, so why not data too?
booboo
February 19th, 2024 - 3:21pmStill have to have a factory production line set up, tooling (which costs 1000s), assembly, electronics manufacture, paint matches and masks, box manufacture and printing. This is some set up to do this and someone has gone to a lot of trouble to match the original to almost as exact copy.

February 5th, 2024 - 5:24pmVery sad to hear of the passing of the wonderful Michael jayston. He held such authority as The Valeyard and had some of the better lines in those courtroom scenes RIP.

January 24th, 2024 - 11:12pmHow come there’s no post about the stuff from Toy Fair (15, Ruby, Wrarth Warrior figures, the 15 Sonic & Beep Plush)?
booboo
January 25th, 2024 - 8:58amwe only tend to deal with official information here and there is none.
On top of that reading around there is a lot of uncertainty here, some were told no photos whereas others have clearly (we assume) been allowed to take them, especially of unapproved items according to the label, hearsay also suggests some of this might not even get made leading to disappointment.
In the past items were there to drum up retailer interest and gain orders, many items shown before have never seen the light of day.
If there is anything official or “definite” we will post it

January 25th, 2024 - 12:59pmI should imagine the Figures on show at the Toyfair are just Prototypes and if not enough interest is shown from Retailers the figures will never get any Tooling made and never go into Production. (Just my Two Cents).
booboo
January 25th, 2024 - 1:04pmMost of it will come through I’m sure, even just the prototypes would have cost a considerable amount already.
There is just no official word.

February 5th, 2024 - 12:52pmI’ll be very surprised if we don’t see 15 and Ruby as a set. The Meep as a plushie really does work but my concern is that we’ll be so far past the airing of the episode that no one will bother anymore. Same with the Wrarth. They really needed to push these out earlier and I’m surprised they didn’t considering 14’s Sonic was ready for the airing.
cosmosboy98
January 24th, 2024 - 9:47amDoes anyone have any detail/ info on the Beep the Meep in the b/g of the 15 sonic photo. is it the prop having a publicity outing? Is it an actual toy/plushie…?
The Destroyer of Worlds
January 24th, 2024 - 11:52amIt’s an actual plush, they’re showing it to retailers in hope of there being interest to sell it.

January 23rd, 2024 - 1:04pmNew CO who stuff at Toyfair today:

Ruby Sunday

January 23rd, 2024 - 7:54pmI just want a proper Donna figure, not bothered about Ruby or Ncuti, seems daft to do the wrath warrior and no Donna, Wilf, toymaker, Meep etc
Anon
January 24th, 2024 - 12:39pmThere wasnt anything wrong with the planet of the ood Donna but agree an updated release in red jumper would be welcome.
pupbenny
January 24th, 2024 - 2:40pmIndeed, there was nothing wrong with the planet of the ood Donna, but it’s just weird for the only figure of such an important companion to be in such a specific and bulky outfit.
anon
January 25th, 2024 - 12:27amI will happily buy all of those & a Meep plushie if that’s available as well!
The Destroyer of Worlds
January 23rd, 2024 - 12:56pmCharacter Options Figures of the 15th Doctor, Ruby (both Church on Ruby Road) and the Wrarth Warrior. As well as 15’s Sonic have been spotted at Toy Fair!

January 23rd, 2024 - 3:28pmCO have one of the biggest stands, but they’re one of the companies with screened off areas. There’s a blurry image from a video where you can make out what has to be the three figures. Don’t expect detail though, you wouldn’t know what they were without seeing the episodes. (Some nice non-Who stuff from other companies though – I didn’t realise the adult collectibles lines ended up shown at UK Toy Fair.)
The Outcast
January 23rd, 2024 - 4:10pmThere’s a pretty high quality image floating about of 15, Ruby and the Wrarth Warrior. Look really damn good, I’m excited to get my hands on those.
daz
January 23rd, 2024 - 6:02pmSo, is Toy Fair about drumming up business from potential retail partners?
So places like Argos and Smyths might order DW toys again for sale later in the year?

January 23rd, 2024 - 6:38pmExactly that

January 24th, 2024 - 12:37amI’ve seen the good pic now. They’re potentially a step up in quality, aren’t they?
daz
January 24th, 2024 - 1:45pmYes Rex F. The figures certainly look lovely from the photo. Fingers crossed we get them and more before the Summer or hopefully around broadcast of Season One.

January 20th, 2024 - 8:34pmI wonder if we’ll finally get some New Series Novels again? I sorely missed them after they seemingly stopped after Jodie’s first three. They were always a nice little way to add in some extra stories to a Doctor’s tenure and always looked good on display. Hopefully we’ll see them return. I love the Target books but some original material would be really nice.
Bookcollector
January 20th, 2024 - 9:01pmI’m the opposite now. Target only for me from now on. There are two new novels coming this year but they are £14.99 each and I’ve decided to stop getting original fiction. If they just did paperbacks I might consider it but the hardbacks are a no for me now
anon
January 21st, 2024 - 1:03amI miss the year’s when they stopped doing the ‘Doctor Who Storybook’ which was a great companion to the yearly Doctor Who Annual. The decline of the New Series Adventures 3-Book release every year is also sadly missed.
Anon
January 13th, 2024 - 2:43pmI would have thought church on ruby road’s DVD release would have a date by now. Especially when you consider the target book is out in twelve days!
