Peri & Sil Vengeance On Varos – Pictures

Action Figures: Peri & Sil Vengeance On Varos

The Sixth Doctor and Peri visit the planet Varos to obtain supplies of a rare ore called Zeiton 7, vital to the functioning of the TARDIS. Varos was once a colony for the criminally insane and the descendants of the original guards still rule, while the poverty-stricken people are kept entertained by screenings of public torture from the Punishment Dome.

Their Governor has been trying to negotiate a better export price for zeiton ore from Sil, an envoy of the Galatron Mining Corporation, whose reptilian body is supported and kept cool by a mobile water tank.

The Doctor and Peri meet two rebels, Jondar and Areta. Peri and Areta are captured and almost reshaped into beast-like creatures by Quillam, the Dome’s sadistic commandant, but the Doctor saves them and tells the Governor the true value of zeiton 7.

Quillam and Varos’s Chief Officer, who are in the pay of the Corporation, try to kill the Doctor and the Governor but are themselves despatched. Sil plans an invasion of Varos by a force from his home world, Thoros-Beta, but the Corporation veto this and instruct him to buy the zeiton ore at any price.

Certainly I understand their tactics (when it comes to releasing figures) and that I am likely to see the figures I would like to purchase come onto the market eventually, but I was merely lamenting the strategy.

I think what they are doing is just WAIT. All the most famous creatures from the classic will be realeased surely, they just want to increase epectations. For example, see what they did with the Daleks of Series 5…first the Drone, then Strategist…and only recently, finally, the Supreme. We all know we want Rory or River Song figures, and they will obviously make them. It’s just a buisiness strategy. It’s the same about the classic companions i think. They have started with Peri and step by step they will end in making Jo and all the others.

I’d love to see some reasonable two-packs, meaning stop repackaging one old figure with one new figure. I can’t afford that!

How about a Masters five-pack (Roger Delgado, Peter Pratt, Anthony Ainley, Eric Roberts, & John Simm)? Romana I and II set? Omega two-pack? UNIT set (the Brig, Benton, Harry Sullivan, & perhaps Yates)? Women of UNIT two-pack (Liz Shaw & Jo Grant)? “Five Doctors” Death-Zone “old enemies to fight” (Yeti, Cyberman, Dalek, & Raston Warrior Robot)? Various Time Lord sets? “Keys to Time” individual episode…

Good grief, I never liked Peri. Although I’m fairly impressed with the quality and likeness of this particular figure, I am highly disappointed that Peri should be the one awarded the honor of the first classic series companion to be produced by Underground Toys. I’m honestly surprised that Jo or Leela were not first. I’m waiting for a Romana II and a Nimon! Or even a Mandrel!

Character should make a Logopolis set with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan with 4th doctor from the 4th doctor and K9 set, 5th doctor regenerated, the watcher (not sure about him) and anthony ainley master figure. That would be a brilliant set! 😆 😀

The classic figures like this are commissioned by underground toys not Character,

Can i ask are they both companys dat are owned by same people coz they all seem simaler in style (the figures) and the 11 drs set which contains classics is marked as character and i can swear so are the classics is there any chance these 2 companys are joined in any way???

I dont know the exact set up but basically Character hold the licence to make New and classic figures but they seem to only want to do new series figures whilst underground toys commission them to make the classics, if it weren’t for underground toys commitment to them there might not be any classic figures.

dont see the point in bringing out loads of old characters

EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME! Character options pay more attention to new series than classics. There has been more 2005-2010 figures than the classic 1963-1996. So i dont know why youre complaining because classic series can not be out dated and it is better than new series. What do you like better booboo the new series or classic?
