July 28th, 2021 - 6:26amLooks fun. 🙂
Btw, any news on whether the BBC will let Big Finish realise ‘Absent Friends’ before the year is out?

July 28th, 2021 - 10:20amNo, and there probably won’t be for a while, I’m going to assume that it’s not going to happen, then I will be pleasantly surprised if it does.

July 28th, 2021 - 12:40pmIts not the BBC’s decision. It is entirely up to big finish whether they release it or not. The BBC had no involvement with it being cancelled.

July 28th, 2021 - 1:24pmI thought it was a Big Finish decision not BBC?

July 29th, 2021 - 10:39amI imagine it’ll be quietly released at some point, when they feel comfortable doing so.

July 27th, 2021 - 8:06pmBig Finish – and in particular the Torchwood range – just dont care what anyone thinks of them any more. And I love that. Written by James Goss too which is a guarantee of quality.

July 27th, 2021 - 7:25pmDrop the blue in the uniform and make more medieval

July 27th, 2021 - 5:22pmAgree with the comments here, Sontarans are one of my favourites but they were made comic relief and have lost their impact post Series 4. Really hoping this great species is given the treatment and respect it deserves in future series!

July 27th, 2021 - 8:53pmI like those freaky wide mouth versions seen on the covers of those big finish releases. I think the ones i,m referringto is ‘heroes of sontar’ or it might have been one of those fourth doctor releases.

July 29th, 2021 - 8:34pmBig Finish still do serious sontaran stories (the First sontarans and the Sontaran Ordeal are great examples). But even still, I do think Big Finish’s comedic sontaran stories are a lot better than Moffat’s treatment of them, like Strax is honestly a lot of fun in the audios.

July 27th, 2021 - 5:18pmStrax was the first interesting thing one with the Sontarans since their introduction, so lets hope this does something equally good.
Doctor Stu
July 27th, 2021 - 4:57pmWhy are the sontarans always Dan Starkey, Christopher Ryan’s voice is so much more iconic. Can we ask him to come back and give it a go. Let’s just hope he can make this one sinister like in series 4. The butchering of Sontarans by Moffat into bumbling comic relief really needs to be undone. Here’s hoping series 13 fixes that

July 27th, 2021 - 8:20pmKevin lindsay is the iconic voice…

July 27th, 2021 - 8:47pmThey are short of clone variants on sontar.

July 27th, 2021 - 4:33pmSeries 13 has Sontarons that look like they hark back to the Linx armour, maybe a bit more medieval looking. So here’s hoping.

July 27th, 2021 - 5:30pmI,ve always said sontarans look better in black
Philip Shaw
July 27th, 2021 - 5:57pmI agree

July 27th, 2021 - 7:58pmThe new series design is okay. But the blue is a little too garish almost. They need a new design including the iconic black armour like I mentioned in my comment earlier. And a good solid story like the two episodes from 2008. Not a supporting or comic relief Sontaran.

July 27th, 2021 - 11:36pmThe blue design looked a little too action figure for my taste. They did however retain that streak of callous cruelty in The sontaran stratagem/The poison Sky. Anything from A good man goes to war onwards ruined that image completely although i do like Strax as part of The Paternoster gang. Sontarans as a rule were never scary but they were always a menacing presence in their Black Armour and i,m sure there are more diminutive actors out there who can play a sontaran clone. Dan starkey does seem to have the monopoly when it comes to sontarans.

July 27th, 2021 - 3:58pmA great cover for Lee Binding to end on, I wonder who will take over the range from November onward, will it be one person or will we have a mix.
Although this is his last Torchwood cover, I don’t think it’s the end of his big finish covers, plus he’s still doing the collection sets, so he will still be hanging around, creating in the doctor who universe for a while yet.
Star Lord
July 28th, 2021 - 12:30pmHis artwork never fails to amaze me, sad to see him go. The person(s) who takes over from here has big boots to fill. At least we still have plenty of Binding’s art to look foward to on other products and ranges.

July 27th, 2021 - 3:23pmI hate the way the new series have made Sontarans into figures of fun.
George
July 27th, 2021 - 3:42pmWe need a new series story that echos the vibes of Sontaran Experiment. Along with a re design of the armour that echos the designs of the classic series. I agree a beefy story that doesn’t treat the Sontarans as comic relief. Maybe a Genesis of the Sontarans story on their home world dealing with experiments.

July 27th, 2021 - 4:06pmSontarans were brilliant in series 4… not so much from then on
