‘I am an expert on witchcraft, Doctor, but I wish to learn more. Before you die, I want answers.’
The TARDIS lands in the Lancashire village of Bilehurst Cragg in the 17th century, and the Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz soon become embroiled in a witch trial run by the local landowner. Fear stalks the land, and the arrival of King James I only serves to intensify the witch hunt.
But the Doctor soon realises there is something more sinister than paranoia and superstition at work. Tendrils of living mud stir in the ground and the dead lurch back to horrifying life as an evil alien presence begins to revive. The Doctor and her friends must save not only the people of Bilehurst Cragg from the wakening forces, but the entire world.

January 17th, 2021 - 6:09pmI know fox, it’s such a trivial thing as well. As soon as get a new logo there will be more complaints. Funny thing is I didn’t even notice the logo on witchfinders until someone complained. I was too busy looking at the covers. It makes me laugh as I’m old enough to remember the complaining about the McCoy logo!

January 14th, 2021 - 5:48pmLooking at the logo again, I think what sits uncomfortably with me is when the ‘Who’ is on a line below ‘Doctor’. When it’s all on the same line it works better because of the line through the beginning and end – it looks ‘right’ when following through the two words, but when the line is spilt like this it looks weird.

January 14th, 2021 - 4:39pmI don’t mind the new logo itself, but I’d rather the Pertwee/McGann logo to be the one featured on the Target novels. I’m not crazy about them using the Whittaker logo going forwards. But either way, I find it strange that they used the Classic logo for 6 of them, and the Whittaker one for Witchfinders. Why didn’t they do them all with one or the other? Seems like a weird choice.

January 16th, 2021 - 7:31amI get it that they wanted to use the current logo on the book that is tie-in to the current series, but looks weird here. Like there is too much loose space up there. I like the logo itself, it’s fine, but this cover looks clearly designed with the older logo in mind and it all works well with the rest of the books, and this is just too clean, I think.
But to be honest, this is not the one I will be picking up, but it’s nice that they are also doing Jodie in this range.

The new logo looks fine, I would honestly like the proper logo for each doctors era to be used anyway. I don’t associate that Pertwee/Magan logo with the 5th Doctor for example it bothers me but not enough.

January 14th, 2021 - 1:54pmDon’t think the current logo works well at all with the artwork style. The BBC and Target logos at the top stand out more than the “Doctor Who’ logo. The old Pertwee/McGann logo looked far more effective.

I adore the Witchfinfers, Certainly not Dull. Its got a whole army of undead, King James , swirling about, with his own madness, The Morax and its agents. Maybe Historical stories dont suit some people. But this is one of the ones I am looking Forward to the most.
Dalek lends its self to visual , far more than The Witchfinders does, and no one says thats Dull its is a bit, most of its kudos comes from nostalgia for The Dalek Design,caught up with the Newest of new series excitment.
I hope all Jodie 13th Doctor Novels have The current Logo, which seems befitting the 13th Doctor.

The author can expand it a lot, more info on the morax, on king James etc. The sensorites is one of the dullest stories in who history but I love the novel. It’s still a very dull story but it’s beautifully written dullness! Witchfinders is far from a dull story

October 14th, 2019 - 3:05pmThat’s what was confirmed earlier this year that both would be out in 2020. Hopefully the third book is a new series novel and hopefully there are others to be announced but I’d even e happy with classic target reprints.

October 14th, 2019 - 6:41pmI know I’m not the only person that matters, but I just think Target reprints are lazy when there’s so many new series stories yet to be novelised. They have two options – either get the original writers, or hire somebody else to novelise them – so it’s not like they have to wait for the actual episodes’ writers to write them.

October 15th, 2019 - 5:41pmIt’s a wee bit frustrating that these have been listed on Amazon without the titles being named. The people submitting the info to Amazon must surely know what the titles are or they wouldn’t be submitting the info in the first place. Why the secrecy? Why not just say they’re new series titles / Target reprints / Pirate, Shada, Resurrection, Revelation. But no, being Doctor Who the powers that be have to whip the fans up into a frenzy first.
I can’t see them being reprints of previous Target novels as the page counts are listed as 208.
I’d be over the moon if these were new series titles because it’s high time that more were released. I’m surprised that The Doctor’s Wife hasn’t appeared yet given that Neil Gaiman said in a DWM interview not long after it was screened that he wanted to novelist it. Surely that one is a matter of time. Plus Mark Gatiss was always a prolific writer for the BBC Books/New Adventures so I’m sure he’s probably scribbling away in whatever free time he has, being a very busy chap.
Russell T Davies’ book of ‘Rose’ was a triumph when that was released, (easily the best of the 4, in my opinion) so more like that would be so welcome.
The range surely needs a writer or two with the time and ability to dive in and novelise the post 2005 stories in their entirety. There is a market there as Doctor Who fans are completists, and with the amount of stories since the revival 14 years ago those writers could happily pop out one or two titles per month for several years to come. Keep the fans happy!
