Figure Collection Magazine Issue 148 Daffodil Man Auton
Out mid April 2019, the Doctor Who Figurine Collection part 148 features one of the Autons in their carnival disguise, part of an apparent promotion of plastic flowers in the 1971 Third Doctor story ‘Terror of the Autons’.
But these flowers are just as deadly as the Autons. They’ve been programmed to seek out human faces and are able to spit out a thin film of incredibly tough plastic that covers the mouth and nose, asphyxiating their unfortunate victims…
Inside the magazine: Behind the scenes on ‘Terror of the Autons’, the Ood and Richard Franklin.

April 30th, 2019 - 12:30amThat’s Eaglemoss not Forbidden Planet’s fault! Eaglemoss don’t supply them the stock. I have to keep buying my Issue from all over the place, because Eaglemoss don’t distribute their products well.

March 3rd, 2019 - 10:38pmI wonder if they’ve ever considered releasing another weeping angel? The screaming Angel is iconic to some but I prefer the creepy, half of their face peeping out from behind their hands look from Blink. I’d love a figurine of that
The Flying Shark
March 4th, 2019 - 7:18amI am desperate for that, and also a normal Ood figure, or Nephew.

March 1st, 2019 - 2:02pmHello everyone this is my first post! I’m just hoping Mr.Corry sees this, I think the DWFC is possibly the greatest ever range of merchandise I’ve ever collected I just love it to bits.I’d love to see the following? Celestial Toymaker, Meddling Monk, Dominator, Bok, Mutt, Styggron, Eldrad, Nimon, Aukon, Warriors Sea Devil, Tractator, Shockeye, The Rani.I know there maybe issues with The Kandyman , Eric Roberts Master & Stengos Dalek but you can add my vote;actually the glass Dalek is my #1 most wanted Dalek.I’d love to see specials of The Mara (or even Dukkha as a regular ish instead? ) The Myrka & The Macra. For companion sets I’m happy with any but I’d love to see Peri & Tegan the most.thanks for reading this and get well soon. And to you Booboo and Luke thanks for everything you do with this site I visit every day I’d be lost without it its much appreciated by me and I’m sure by all of us who use it thanks again.

March 1st, 2019 - 10:49amWe really should look at it this way – whether they do figures, vehicles or consoles, whether they do things you want or things you don’t want we really should just be grateful that the range even exists. 20 years ago I was desperate for ANYTHING! Any merchandise would have been snapped up. Oh we had books, videos, then CDs and now DVD. But toys or figurines? Not a hope those days. Then along comes the new who and regardless of what you think of it (I love it and classic equally) it kick started toys and figurines. People need to stop complaining and just be grateful for what you can get!

March 1st, 2019 - 8:59amJust a quick thing: we want to cover the Menoptera and the Kandyman and a plethora of characters from other parts of the Doctor Who universe. If we don’t do them then please understand there’ll be always a good reason why.
While it’s impossible ’to tailor a collection like this to each reader, believe me that we want to make the collection the best collection of Doctor Who figurines we possibly can. I know I love making it.
Also forgive any typing mistakes. I’ve re-written this three times already and I’m currently in my sick bed dying of a cold and I don’t have my glasses to see my phone 100% perfectly.
Ronald
March 1st, 2019 - 10:09amIt’s very much appreciated that you take the time to reply to our questions/comments on here – especially when laid low! With such a vast array of characters to represent (and more new ones every year) it’s bound to be nigh on impossible to cover them all without obstacles such as rights and practicalities.
A collection like this is something I used to dream about when I was wee and to see it build every month is just fantastic! For me Tom Baker’s era was the one that means the most so obviously that’s the one I’d personally like to see more figures from but I just hope it lasts long enough to cover most of the monsters/enemies from the show’s history, its present and its future.
Thanks again Neil and get well soon!

March 8th, 2019 - 12:24pmAccording to wikipedia, licorice allsorts were invented by accident in 1899. So, could there be the possibility of a special 120th anniversary tie-in with Bassets? They let Bertie Basset’s distant cousin (Kandyman) have a special one-off, extremely limited edition, never-to-be-made again figure be produced (along with some promotional material (for ‘Bertie’ of course and acknowledgement(s) in the magazine).
Just a thought!?
or how about a Bertie Bassett/Kandyman twin pack?

February 28th, 2019 - 8:47pmYogi_bear, it might be worthwhile to follow Neil Corry on Twitter. Someone asked him about the feasibility of The Kandyman only last week and his reply suggests they likely have looked into it (and concluded no, from my reading of it).
I asked the guys from Harrop if they might make one at a convention and they said they had had so many requests, they were going to get straight onto finding out. That was 4 years ago though, which suggests likewise to me…
yogi_bear
February 28th, 2019 - 10:40pmGareth I’ve given up trying to ask Neil Corry anything – he thinks because hes answered a question before everyone has seen his answer…..that ludicrous twitter site isnt conducive to discussion either. He ‘eventually’ gave an answer about the menoptra here. Hopefully the transparent predator figure which Eaglemoss have release may resolve any issue with the menoptra wings if indeed its the wings causing the problem. I dont see why there should be an issue though when other figures have incuded transparent components as do items in other eaglemoss ranges.

February 28th, 2019 - 11:50pmBe civil
Anonymous
March 1st, 2019 - 12:06amLet me clarify my be civil comment. It is not Neil’s job to answer all fan questions. Yes there is a presumption that everyone has access to social media but that doesn’t mean he has to respond to every single query as sites like boo boo’s and Luke’s will often put those messages on their site (I see these messages on here at the bottom of the page in a Twitter feed section.) But my main reason for the comment is simple. If you use the tone you are using in your posts on here to companies I’m not surprised you are not getting responses. Boo boo tried to explain the rights issue to you but you just dismissed his comments and continued complaining. I and others have said this before, the negativity is becoming tedious.

March 1st, 2019 - 6:09amAlso, if you read the fine print on the see through predator release, it is limited to 2500 pieces which suggests it is not viable for mass production whilst also keeping any hope of quality control. I would love a menoptra figure and a stengos dalek too but if the people WHO ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT say that they are trying to work out the feasability of a model of that type then surely we should all just be patient and enjoy what else they have to offer. Im sure we would all rather that eaglemoss release a high quality, lasting dalek or menoptra than recieve a hastily made product than a hastily made figure put out there to satiate the constant droaning and complaining of a small minority who NEVER appear to be happy.
Alvin
March 1st, 2019 - 10:02amI think the material used for ‘cloaked’ predator would be an ideal material to make the ‘light-wave’ sickness dalek from Planet of the Dalek, (hint hint 🙂 )
Doctor thirteen13
February 28th, 2019 - 5:25pmI would love the Peter Cushing figurine they should do it as a companion set 2 different sets one from first movie and one for the second movie and what about the Shalka set too and may be the curse of fatal death set too
the crypto daleks
February 28th, 2019 - 8:51pmmmm we think we read before that they dont have liscence for any cushing related doctor who, shame, the movie daleks would make a great version of figurines

March 1st, 2019 - 4:02pmI think we all would love Cushing related figurines but sadly it’s not on the cards. The only Cushing Doctor I ever managed to get was a 25mm metal figure many moons ago.

February 28th, 2019 - 1:11pmDefinitely will be buying 2 of these to go with my classic only collection
Neil Corry
February 28th, 2019 - 2:57pmWe like people who buy two issues. Thank you.
As to other people’s comments on this page, when the Figurines Collection began there was a much greater focus on the post-2005 series, and it’s only on the success of those that we’ve been able to increase the issue count and been able to have more classic series figurines.
We love all of Doctor Who at Eaglemoss but we do understand that people have different views on this. We areawya happy when people buy whatever issues they like,’as this helps to ensure the magazine series’ longevity.
Apologies for going on about this, but this figurine, one of my absolutel favourites so far, wouldn’t have happened if there hadn’t been the success of the new series figurines first.
Ronald
February 28th, 2019 - 8:30pmAlthough I do prefer the pre-2005 figures I completely understand this is a commercial exercise and as Neil says we wouldn’t get these more obscure figures if post-2005 characters weren’t there and some of those have been great anyway. It should represent the whole series. I’ve subscribed since the start and the range of figures is incredible.
Buyers can always pick and choose and who would have ever thought we would get figures of the Daffodil Auton (a really lovely figure), White Robot, Wirrn and the Mandrel! Fabulous!
I’m really hoping the series lasts long enough so we can get a Nimon…I was also wondering if any images exist of the Krynoid figure that wasn’t progressed…I’d still like to see that even if it’s the ‘humanoid’ version!
Neil Corry
March 1st, 2019 - 8:05amNimon! I knew there was something I’d forgotten!
The Werewolf
March 1st, 2019 - 8:52pmHow about Styggron?
yogi_bear
February 28th, 2019 - 12:15pmPity you can’t just subscribe to the classic figures like this one….
Stephen
February 28th, 2019 - 1:46pmThey should just scrap the new series ones at this point & concentrate on the classic figurines.
Anonymous
February 28th, 2019 - 1:55pmJust order the ones you want and leave subscriptions to those who want the whole show represented not just bits of it.
Anonymous
February 28th, 2019 - 2:44pmHere we go yet again with the complaining. Just don’t buy the ones you don’t want. Lots of other people do want them!
yogi_bear
February 28th, 2019 - 4:46pmAgreed Stephen the classic series is still under represented and so are the Cushing films – which no matter what some people say – form an important part of 50 years of who history…..I prefer em to nu-who any time especially last years series.
booboo
February 28th, 2019 - 4:51pmclassics are not over popular in the states and they have to cater for a world wide market, think they have done an amazing job getting to 180 and we are now getting figurines people never though we would see.
Cushing films are a different license, they couldn’t do them even if the wanted to and the expensive probably wouldn’t be cost effective for a hand full of figures
yogi_bear
February 28th, 2019 - 4:54pmWell its up to eaglemoss to find out how much a licence would cost …enough people have asked and we dont even know if they have so we cant really go guessing until eaglemoss have said it would cost to much…its the same saga with the Kandyman. Enough people want the figure . Have they actually checked to see if a licence is feasible ??
booboo
February 28th, 2019 - 5:00pmThey do their market research I’m sure, if its a viable business proposition i’m sure they would have looked at it.
Its not only license costs its the approval from the various estates now involved.
its just not that simple.
yogi_bear
February 28th, 2019 - 5:19pmWell when Eaglemoss say theyve followed those avenues great… Rather than just ‘assuming’ what the position is eh….And of course like any good company Eaglemoss should be takingon the views of ALL their customers.
booboo
February 28th, 2019 - 5:29pmThey might not be able say anything about business matters either way, most of that sort of discussion remains behind closed doors and subject to NDA’s.
Anonymous
February 28th, 2019 - 5:39pmFascinating that people just assume they can have any figure they ask for. Rights issues are a complicated and expensive business. If they want to do a certain figure eaglemoss will certainly look into it as a responsible company. But please don’t get angry when they don’t release the figure you want or release one that you don’t want. From a commercial standpoint any figure has to meet certain criteria. So that means the ghost figure for instance must be commercial viable enough to be released.
Stephen
February 28th, 2019 - 7:30pmAgreed Yogi, I want the Cushing films represented so badly! At the very least a figurine of the Cushing Dr himself + assorted Daleks. Add to that all the companions, thal & Philip Madoc & that’ll do me nicely 🙂 Harlequin miniatures did a Movie Doctor AND a Kandyman so something with rights must be possible. I’m assuming Eaglemoss have explored these possibilities.
Stephen
February 28th, 2019 - 7:34pmI’d like to see some of the comic stuff done too, 60’s Dalek strips, Absolom Daak, Frobisher. The possibilities are endless! (if sadly unlikely)
Alvin
March 1st, 2019 - 10:18amIt would be great if Eaglemoss was able to do get the licence to do figures from the 60s dalek films or comics, I wonder if they could somehow be able to release them as specials or bonus figures like they have with the concept Star Trek starships.
I’d also love it if Eaglemoss was able to do ships and vehicles from Doctor Who, I’d love a Bessie, Whomobile, Dalek Saucer from Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150AD, Scaroth of Jageroths ship etc.
I guess one can only dream 🙂
booboo
March 1st, 2019 - 10:23amI believe vehicles were looked at, maybe they still are, its disappointing the console series may be few and far between as well.
Alvin
March 1st, 2019 - 10:54amWhen the consoles was first announced I didn’t intend getting one as they’re not really my thing, however when the season 15 console came out I bought it and I think its amazing, I’m now hoping that the sales of the Season 15 console was successful enough for eaglemoss to consider doing more.
