Doctor Who and the Invasion from Space Audio CD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

Peter Purves reads two vintage stories from the 1960s featuring the First Doctor. First published as an illustrated book in the 1960s and now a collector’s item, The Invasion from Space sees the Doctor land in the futuristic world of The One. Along with the Mortimer family, whom he rescued from the Great Fire of London, he finds himself recruited to lead a galactic invasion from Andromeda – with the TARDIS instrumental in the plan!

In Ten Fathom Pirates, a story from The Doctor Who Annual 1967, the Doctor encounters underwater raiders on a distant planet. Will his wits and ingenuity help him escape their company?

Peter Purves, who played the First Doctor’s companion Steven Taylor, reads these two stories brimming with the charm and naivety of a bygone age.

Duration: 1 hour 50 mins approx.

I found the Turlough book hard going and never finished it. That said, Harry Sullivans War was an amazing read.

Really have to give credit to the designers. They created a logo that just works so well, if this and various Big Finish covers are to be seen. It works for new and it works for old.

It’s amazing that the logo doesn’t look out-of-place even on retro-style stuff like this!

Personally I think the logo works pretty damn well here, even with the retro cartoon like cover. It oddly doesn’t look out of place next to Hartnell.

Very interesting. I wonder if we’ll get audiobooks of the other two Pre-Virgin novels: Harry Sullivan’s War and Turlough and the Earthlink Dilemma. If I understand correctly, those two and this novella were the only original books before Virgin? (Not counting Annual short stories).

Mind the turlough book was bad enough when I read it, good luck listening to an audio version!
