From what I understand AbbyShot lost their licence to make Doctor Who Costumes, so has it now?

Or have the BBC just put a stop to licenced costume reproductions like coats, suits, jackets, etc…

they didn’t loose it as such it came to and end and they decided not to renew it presumably as they didn’t see much more mileage in it.

I wish this would be reproduced similar to how the blue coat had a rerun (even if it was updated slightly). It would also be cool to see a grey coat!

I got one from Cosplaysky…very decent reproduction but it has some characteristics that bug me.

I’ve ordered this one too having been so impressed by Abbyshot’s reproduction of the navy coat 😀

I got a replica of this from another company last year and that was pretty good – but this looks amazing so I may upgrade…

On another but related note, I actually wear my current one in daily life when I can, I’m told I’m one of the few who can pull it off

If I did get this one then possibly, although there is a bit of sentimental value attached to it for me since it was a birthday present for my 18th Birthday so I’m not sure I could bring myself to get rid of it or sell it on

Considering the fabric alone for the original coat costs £350 plus £500 for tailoring, this is beyond a bargain…

Works out around £250, less if you use 10% discount code. But they have payment plans available. As Taro rightly points out, the original is hardly a £15 charity shop find, it’s extremely expensive. Capaldi’s first Navy Blue Crombie was over £1000, so Abbyshot are doing pretty damn well in reproducing these coats to a standard that, many people are unable to tell the difference between it and the original for such a cheap price.

Their blog shows just how much effort goes into sourcing the materials, perfecting the fit, the buttons, lining etc.

Well worth it in my opinion.

Have to agree – It is well worth the price. Their navy version is incredible…I took it to the Doctor Who experience and compared it to the original and trust me that was a real eye opener to how close it is to the original. These replicas are good not just only for wearing but even just to have as part of your collection to gaze at. And they’re superior in comparison to a lot of the other replicas out there on account of the fact that Abbyshot have had access to the originals whereas other companies merely have to refer to reference images and go with what they believe to be true.

I have a friend who took his Abbyshot replica of the Navy coat to see Capaldi between filming when he was interacting with fans, capaldi let him compare it and he couldn’t tell the difference.

The thing that gets me about Abbyshot is that they’re such good quality garments you can wear them every day with the proper care, my navy coat has become my daily jacket, I rarely leave the house without it. – That said my purple velvet will probably be for special occasions and to cry into when Capaldi leaves at Christmas.

So although it might look frightening to see the price, I can assure anyone that it is truly worth the cost for the effort that goes into it, the meticulous research and development (Again, see their blog for things like how many months they spent getting the colour right etc) and of course the quality!

I wouldn’t call Clara ‘The finest companion’, but this coat looks cool. Probably good for cos-players.
