that’s what I wanna know, and also, will we (in the UK) be getting a dvd release of these?

    • drjakeyoung

      May 3rd, 2013 - 9:33pm

no, because we will be getting the regeneration box set which is exclusive to us (the UK) and so it is only fair that this release is exclusive to the US. Although you could always just import it from amazon if you really want it!

I’m thinking of doing that but only if i can find a way to unlock the region code on my blu-ray player (which also plays DVD’s)

you could look it up online and follow a guide? Is it even possible to unlock a region code?

I hope they do one for all the Doctors here on the UK. I like the idea. The only classic I own on DVD is The 5 Doctors, so I wouldn’t mind something like this. I have watched a few classic episodes, they are great, but I don’t really want them all on DVD but if I could have at least one story from each Doctor, that’ll be nice!

OOOHHHHHH, so are these the same as the release’s out now, or are they re-release and re-re-releases (caves of androzani)?

    • drjakeyoung

      April 8th, 2013 - 7:28pm

i think they have no extra’s on them unlike the normal releases, but i think they might have documentary’s on each episode (a bit like this doctors 1-4 release). The tenth planet will be released latter this year on it’s own but with all the special features that were not on this release.

    • Sam Bentley

      April 8th, 2013 - 8:05pm

I really think they should have included one of the series 6 episodes which feature Matt’s Doctor regenerating. I know it wasn’t a proper regeneration but I think it’s only right to include a bit of Matt for a 50th anniversary special DVD boxset like this.

    • drjakeyoung

      April 8th, 2013 - 8:11pm

And a bit of Colin! As there are no full episodes with Colin in!

    • Sam Bentley

      April 8th, 2013 - 8:17pm

That’s a good point! Colin is my third favourite of the Doctors so it would nice… I am considering buying all the multi Doctor DVDs in time for the 50th… so I might purchase the Two Doctors… I’m not really up-to-date with DVDs… are all the multi Doctor storys on DVD (excluding Time Crash, Dimensions in Time etc.)?

    • drjakeyoung

      April 8th, 2013 - 8:19pm

yes, all bar dimensions in time are available on DVD

    • Sam Bentley

      April 8th, 2013 - 8:25pm

I think that might be a good boxset, seeing as the 50th is to be a multiDoctor story a boxset of all of them would be nice. Maybe even DiT 😉

    • Tim M

      April 14th, 2013 - 6:21pm

Well I certainly WONT be buying this box set! I already have most the stories (apart from the as yet to be released ‘The Tenth Planet’). I don’t see the point in buying them again.

even if that is the title they won’t give his name
because if they do it will ruin the point of the show and they will have to change the title of the show to something like doctor Jeff of doctor bob
      or even doctor fred

I don’t think that they are making another edition that would be pointless because the first 3 stories have all been given at least two releases I just think the box set will be made up of the new Aztecs which has Galaxy 4, The Revisitations 3 Tomb, the Spearhead that was in the Manequin Mania box set and the original Pyramids of Mars.

Dont expect any extras or any bonus episodes that was on the original dvds. (so no galaxy 4 or any documentaries from the original or se dvds). Just expect the documentarys that was broadcast on bbc america, the intro from steven moffat and the episodes. Thats all

At first I thought it could be but since the price has been revealed I’m not so sure. Using a currency translater I’ve realised there is about 30 quid of difference between the rrp of doctors revisited and the regeneration box.

    • Volcanic7383

A license fee is where you have to pay so much a year to watch television. If you don’t have a license, it’s illegal to watch televison.

The first Doctor broadcast in America was Tom Baker on other stations prior to BBC America, America fans also get the same DVD releases we do in the UK (even getting a Key to Time boxset well before the UK I believe), with the exception of The TV Movie which was only released recently due to rigths issues with Fox. However I don’t think America got the same level of repeats of Classic stories the UK got in the Wilderness Years on BBC 3 and UKTV so this is probably one of the first times these stories have been repeated there.

I live in Chicago and have been watching the Doctor since 1970. It was harder to find but it was here.

    • George

      April 6th, 2013 - 6:05pm

Actually, the first Doctor to air in the US was Jon Pertwee, on KRON, then the NBC affiliate station in San Francisco, in 1973 (only lasted through 1974). However, Tom was the first Doctor to appear on PBS stations across the US (I first caught The Doctor in episodic form June 1981 via KRMA in Denver; I’d already seen Dr. Who and the Daleks on a late-night “creature-feature”).

    • Anonymous

      April 7th, 2013 - 1:35pm

Yes quite it was Jon Pertwee who was the first Doctor. Mainly because none of the broadcastsers were interested in black and white television, even though many of the eventual broadcasters in the PBS stations were still using it.

Imagine how many more episodes we might still have today if they had been bothered to buy it.

Actually, I take (part) of that back. I didn’t realize that WTTN in Chicago had been broadcasting Dr. Who since 1975, or that they started with The Mutants. For that matter, KTEC in Los Angeles started in ’75, too, with Dr. who & the Silurians, and other PBS stations started earlier. Ya learn something new every day. Fantastic!
