Big Finish UNIT: Nemesis 1 – Between Two Worlds

As exclusively revealed in Doctor Who Magazine issue 562, Kate Stewart and her team are back and up against bigger threats than ever before in UNIT: Nemesis.

Prepare to meet enemies ancient and modern in these full-cast audio dramas –including the Ice Warriors, in a tale which sees UNIT encounter the military Martians for the first time. With the first volume set for release in November 2021, UNIT: Nemesis marks a brand-new era for the UNIT team and the beginning of a new four-box-set arc of adventures. Old favourites and new faces will team up from stations across the globe, including Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave), Osgood (Ingrid Oliver), Josh Carter (James Joyce), Jacqui McGee (Tracy Wiles), Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) and Naomi Cross (Eleanor Crooks).UNIT –Nemesis 1is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition CD (for just £24.99) or a digital download (for just £19.99) exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.

An ancient artefact, a stone arch anachronistically imbedded with electronic circuitry, is recovered following a rupture in an undersea stretch of the Mull lava group in North West Scotland, a geological feature dating from tens of millions of years ago. UNIT’s investigation will unlock a link to another world and bring them face to face with a new and powerful threat…

Co-producer Emily Cook said: “UNIT: Nemesisis like UNIT’s version of Avengers: Assemble! UNIT UK and UNIT Australia join forces in an encounter with the Ice Warriors. Meanwhile, as usual, UNIT is investigating the unexpected…

On a submersible off the west coast of Scotland, marine biologist Professor Adam Merchant discovers a large stone arch, which has apparently been buried for millions of years. Where has this mysterious arch come from? And where does it lead to? UNIT is on the case! Unfortunately, someone else is too…”

Co-producer David Richardson added: “A new start, a new era for UNIT –and the beginning of a sixteen-part epic that will see the return of a number of popular monsters. But what is young Harry Sullivan doing here in the 20th Century? And who is his colleague Naomi Cross? UNIT: Nemesisis an important piece of a jigsaw puzzle that has been planned for some time, and a storyline that will last over the coming years.”

UNIT –Nemesis 1 is now available to pre-order as a collector’s edition CD (for just £24.99) or a digital download (for just £19.99) exclusively from the Big Finish website. Big Finish listeners can save money by pre-ordering the bundle, containing all four volumes in the UNIT –Nemesis series, for just £88 (as a collector’s edition CD) or £79 (as a download).

I feel it would have been funny if UNIT fought the Ice Warriors in Classic Who. Of course a major reason why they didn’t is because The Curse of Peladon was broadcast a week after Day of the Daleks and UNIT had already had a… memorable battle with the Daleks and so it would have been a bit unusual in season 9 (season 8 and 7 probably) for the Brig and his chaps to face off against more iconic baddies the next week. Also, why in the early days of Tom Baker did the Brigadier seem to conveniently vanish? Can anyone answer that question? And lastly is it true that David Collins who played Charn (one of the banes of my childhood) in Through The Dragon’s Eye want to play the Doctor? I feel as if he would have been more suited to being the master (maybe Charn is a relative of the decayed master) . I know he was in the show a few times during that period. Oh and one more thing.
    RIP CAPTAIN TOM MOORE✊

Wondered what happened to U.N.I.T after it was no longer active and shut down? Is this set after or preceding that?.

It will run out cheaper to get all four volumes in one go, but £88 straight out is still a lot to fork out in one go especially with all the other stuff coming up. Its alright if money is no object. I,ll probably buy individually.

I’m guessing before, as they aren’t allowed to follow current events, at they aren’t under their licence at the moment.

I just wait until they’re 50% off, that’s how I get most of my audios. They’re way too expensive normally

Does anyone else think the idea of a “young harry sullivan” is just pointless? Big finish need to stop all these crossovers now. What is interesting in one story becomes dull after it’s been used in virtually every release.

I,ve not heard the ‘Return’ Trailer Jason Z (i prefer the surprise) . I have had it on preorder ages with just Tom and Sadie in mind . Forgot about christopher Naylor playing Harry in that.
