Thinking about opening my new set. Some of the figures are similar to ones I got. The only one that I really want is the sixth doctor but the others are great to. Should I?

You might as well buy the 6th doctor on eBay individually.

Or wait till FP get stock and buy a set from them.

He already has a set Silent…. he just wants to know if he should open it being that the only figure he really wants is the 6th Doctor cause he has all the other figures that pretty much look similar to the ones he got. I wouldn’t open it, but I’m an in the box collector. I only open doubles of what I get so I always buy 2. It’s up to you though… if u really want that figure to go with all your other ones… then I say definitely open it up. You will love these figures when you have them in hand and can closely look at them. Good luck!

Been checking the Toys r us website for three days and it still says this set is out of stock. Are they likely to get anymore online or will I have to go into one of the stores and try and get one??

if the 600 figure is correct which evidance seems to show it is then they seem to have sold 25% off that online already let alone shop sales

gut feeling is unless there is second batch online sales will be very hit and miss

Got mine, No.3228. Looks okay except for a dodgy Hurt beard, but I can always swap head with original. Mccoy head is a bit weird as well but I’m just so happy, I’ve been ringing for weeks.

Hi guys I may have some pertinent information regarding the ‘600’ pieces rumour.

I have a shipping carton from TOYS R US with 4 of the 13 Doctors Sets inside. So this confirms they are shipped 4 to a carton. (Some stores are receiving stocks of 4 or multiples thereof)

The Information on the carton is somewhat revealing:

    TRU UK IMPORT
From: TOY OPTIONS (FAR EAST) LTD

    CTN: 65 ( of 150 )

There are all sorts of date codes and product numbers but the above information is interesting. It shows the item comes from the FAR EAST origin of CHARACTER OPTIONS factory but more telling is the CTN (or CARTON) count.

    I have carton 65 ( of 150 ). Times 150 cartons x 4 pieces a carton and you have your number of 600.

This could however just be one shipment and they have others scheduled but if this is the only shipment then the number of 600 pieces for TOYS R US seems feasible.

This is my first ever post so hope this information is of use!

from the numbers being posted its clear for the now the 600 number was correct

like you say they may be due a second batch but all a bit to much of coincidence really

I got one set delivered and they sent it in this style box. It’s clearly a box designed to hold 4 sets, but they must be sending one in 4 out in the original packing box. Mine has (in black marker on the side) “5 of 150” written on it.

One thing. If you compare this set to the 11 Doctors set, its a massive improvement. All the figures are so much more life like, and less like Toys and more models.

I think its definitely worth the £100 price tag – or £80.00.

I think the most disappointing figure in this set is the 12th Doctor, and that is is my first figure of him.

now I have it really good

probably impressed with the 2nd Doctor the most, then the 3rd

Interesting that I think the 1st 2nd and 3rd Doctor likenesses are brilliant, all without digital scanning!

The 12th Doctor is sadly the least interesting in this set

    • mick

      November 1st, 2016 - 6:14pm

they could of done so much more with the 12th doctor without any retooling

    • Tom Baker Plush

      November 1st, 2016 - 6:35pm

The Twelfth Doctor just being a re-release wouldn’t have been such a bad thing if this set was mass market, like the Eleven Doctors set was. The Matt Smith figure in that was the same as the general release, but not many kids would’ve had it so it was fine, but this is a collector set and most collectors already have each of the 12th Doctor variants…

and whats with orange inside his coat?

    • WouldYouLikeAJellyBaby?

      November 1st, 2016 - 8:49pm

I think all the money spent on this figure went into repainting the coat, hence why the lining and boots have been painted incorrectly. Honestly though I don’t think the coat even needed to be repainted, it looked fine the way it was and I think if CO were really set on re-releasing this figure in particluar then they should have at least repainted the shirt dark blue instead of black.

  • Doctor

    October 31st, 2016 - 11:33pm

Set Number 03213 was delivered to me this morning.
1st Doctor – Impressed, a good likeness and a good outfit, happy to add it to the collection.
2nd Doctor – Extremely impressed with this one, it’s a superb figure, I had my doubts that they’d be able to pull off an older Troughton using just paint apps and no sculpt alterations but they nailed it with this one
3rd Doctor – Impressed, I have quite a few third doctors and this one isn’t my favourite outfit, but it’s one I’m pleased to finally own. Though the paint apps on the face werent the best.
4th Doctor – Compared this to the original and found that I prefer everything but the head, which looked better on the original, this version has a darker (more accurate) shirt and obviously the scarf details are great too but the original has a better aged effect, at least on mine.
5th Doctor – Alright, though it’s not my favourite 5th doctor figure, mine looked so pale that he looks dead, but I’m happy with it all the same, from some angles it’s very realistic.
6th Doctor – Hugely impressed, I love the Big Finish audios so I knew I’d end up getting this figure and it doesn’t disappoint, the detailing in his jacket isn’t as detailed as it could have been if I’m being picky, but I really love the figure.
7th Doctor – Impressed – Compared it to the Battlefield version and I do enjoy the altered paint apps, they do make him look more realistic but the face was a little wrong, something not quite right with the paint apps of mine but I’m fine with it, just swapped the head
8th Doctor – Forgetting the head, which was a bizarre choice, I’m impressed. I love the body, the paint apps to make his outfit dirty are extremely well done, I swapped the heads with my NOTD 8th and this one went right on the shelf!
War Doctor – A good figure but I prefer the original, the weathered effect on the leather was so minor that it looked wrong, that said it was a little over done on the original so there’s no winning that race.
9th Doctor – An alright figure, not massively impressed but a nice variant. Had some paint app issues on the head which were annoying but nothing too massive.
10th Doctor – An alright figure, again not hugely impressive as it’s one we’ve seen a lot of just rehashed, but’s not bad.
11th Doctor – A good figure, not hugely impressive but feels like it has more variation than the other new who doctors, the paint apps are nice and pretty well done.
12th Doctor – A good figure but literally no different from the version with the black shirt released in store, It’d have been nice if they had just done the waistcoat (Or just painted one on) and released that for some variation, but sadly not.

Overall the new who doctors let the set down in my opinion, but the classic doctors are fantastic and make it well worth getting. That said I don’t think I would have got this if I hadn’t had £20 off because the price is a little too high for my liking when we’re seeing 13 re-releases and repaints (Fantastic though they may be) But it being a collectors item and presented in such beautiful packaging I have to say, yeah it’s worth the £80 I paid for it.

Now, Bring on the new Season 9 12th Doctor figures 😀

Got mine today, number 3238. I must admit, it’s a really nice looking set when you see it in person, and all the paint on my figures are really spot on. Highlight for me is without a doubt the 6th Doctor. Amazing how they’ve managed to capture the times on Big Finish covers he’s worn a blue version of his normal outfit (and it isn’t Real Time, as the box makes you think it is).

Overall, really pleased. Price could’ve been steeper, but ah well.
