Once you put something in the basket does it count as sold? I ordered it soon as I saw it and put it in the basket but had a bit of trouble paying for it.

No dude it only counts as sold once the payment has cleared, then they deduct however many you’ve bought from the “In Stock” total. Otherwise it would show as “Sold Out” just from people adding loads to basket to check the stock levels.

Sets are being broken down and figures sold inidividually on eBay for silly money already. Pertwee and Colin Baker figures selling for £30 each with 8hours to go!!! Mental!!! Don’t hesitate people… Just get one as soon as you can before the online dealers start ripping you off!!!

    • Voldermort

      October 30th, 2016 - 5:28pm

Yes I’ve seen. The Pertwee figure is likely to be up to £50 by the time the auctions ends. That and the Colin Baker figure going for £30-40, that the cost of one set already. Anything else is just extra profit.

I suspect as time goes by, the sets will become even more valuable.

    • Doctor

      October 30th, 2016 - 5:39pm

They tent to appreciate in value over time, I was looking at the 1st doctor and Saucer command dalek (Colour set) earlier on eBay and you’re lucky if you find that cheaper than £60-70. If I remember right it was £25 rp.

I mean it’s something people do all the time, buy two sets and split the first one up to get your money for both back, essentially you get your set for free. Some people get annoyed about it but I don’t see the point really.

    • Voldermort

      October 30th, 2016 - 7:55pm

The Pertwee figure has just gone for nearly £70 on EBAY. Sixth Doctor £31.00. That is the cost of one set already, with still 11 figures remaining.

Clearly the Pertwee figure is the most popular.

      Doctor, yeah I agree.

Surely the sheer speed at which these sets have sold out, will highlight to the top bosses of CA and Toys’R’Us that the demand for Doctor Who figures is still very present. Particularly with Toys’R’Us – whats the likelyhood they’ll be buying in more Doctor Who figure stock?

I certainly think the value of these sets will go up now. I feel its a bit like the Remembrance of the Daleks set with Davros and destroyed Dalek is so difficult to get without it going north of £70+, when the original RRP price was £30.

      October 29th, 2016 - 6:43pm

all depends on how many they have

my gut felling is the demand has been underestimated as they are the only ones to buy from for now

Really, the only actual mold change in the set is the new jacket for Pertwee, thus it’s the favorite voted figure. Interesting paint jobs gets Hartnell and colin votes as well. As it should be. But if I may, I know a way they could have doubled their sales. –Yes, i know it’s too late but even with an illustrator/consultant such as myself, if they don’t ask ahead of time….. 🙂 but here’s what I would have done in this case:

The Capaldi figure: They’ve already got that body mold. Paint the coat burgundy and go with the white shirt, painting on the dark gray vest. then add the *GOOD* Capaldi head sculpt from the Time of the Doctor set. No new molds, but a simple repaint that gives us a totally new figure they have yet to come out with in a 5″ figure. (they could even keep the coat navy blue, as they have yet to come out with that one in the 5″ scale either) No charge for that! 🙂

Just picked up a set on spec from TRU at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol this morning. They had one set left (after I had bought mine)… Interestingly they weren’t on display with the other Who figures, but locked away behind glass in a display area next to their tills. Worth asking the staff if they have the sets in stock if they are not apparently on display..!
(Looks amazing in hand…I think the paint jobs exceed the ones on the similar figures that have been released previously!)

I agree. I own 3 of these sets now! It’s not stopping someone from getting one. You can’t think like that. By these selling really well it’s sending a message to the company showing them that there still is a demand for figures, thus hopefully, making them make more figures for sale.

I reckon with the amount of money raised from the sales of this set, they may finally get kicked into doing some proper NEW figures. I hope toy fair 2017 shows the rebirth of the CO/UT Doctor Who range.

  • The Geeks Handbag

Ordered my set yesterday and it arrived today!
Not particularly happy with it, lots of issues with the paint apps, marks on faces/necks, moulds on noses bad (Capaldi looks like he has a boil on the end of his nose!) Hartnell’s monocle is out of line with the actual paint by a mile!…I could go on and on to be honest but let’s just say the quality control on this set is terrible. If it was a budget B&M set I could understand it (in fact this is exactly what it looks like) but for £99 I’m not impressed.
That’s the risk you take ordering it online I guess but I wasn’t able to find one in my local stores.
I’ll be interested to hear what other peoples sets are like, maybe I’ve just been unlucky.
Also are these not meant to be numbered?…mine isn’t??

Although its more than it was on Toys’R’Us, there is a seller on Ebay who got it fot £130 Free P&P which isn’t too bad when you consider someone else is selling it for £220

Although the fact Forbidden Planet haven’t put it up, is quite odd. You’d think they would want too get it out at the same time as TRU so they can some business.
