The Time Monster Set

The Master, back on Earth has constructed a device to gain control over Kronos, a creature from outside of the time vortex. He uses the device but it proves dangerously unstable. The Third Doctor arrives and shuts down experiment but the Master reactivates it, using it to ensnare a High Priest of the lost city of Atlantis, and then to attack UNIT forces.

The Master takes travels back to Atlantis in his TARDIS, now in the guise of an advanced computer bank, to steal the sacred Crystal of Kronos with which he hopes to dominate Kronos. The Doctor follows in his TARDIS with Jo Grant but can’t prevent his enemy destroying Atlantis.

Escaping in their TARDIS’s the Doctor and the Master confront each other within the time vortex where the Doctor threatens to ‘time ram’ the Master’s TARDIS, a huge explosion caused by two or more TARDISes trying to materialise in the same place in Space and Time. The Doctor cannot bring himself do it, but Jo operates the controls and the two TARDIS’s collide.

Instead of the expected explosion both TARDISes reappear in a strange void. The ‘time ram’ energy has released Kronos, who agrees to return the Doctor and Jo to Earth but, plans to destroy the Master. The Doctor intervenes and pleads for mercy on the Master’s behalf ensuring he too goes free.

I want to get first Master figure and as Delgardo is my favourite Master I want either this or the Axon set which is best and why? (I haven’t seen either Claws Of Axos or The Time Monster but I have read The Golden Ones in DWM)

I haven’t seen the whole story of the Time Monster but I HAVE seen jsut a little of it and I liked what I saw. Gonna get that story on VHS after I watch Terror of he Autons on DVD. Best DVD release of the YEAR, it’s got to be !

Bought this and it looks good. The Tardis computer bank id basic and would have looked better if it had a sliding opening door but still good to have a Master Tardis. Hope they do a Piller, a Grandfather Clock and a Melkur Tardis with Anthony Ainley Master. Also this set came with a nice cardback insert of the tadis interior from the Time monster. Yes the big mixing bowl circles. (Hey I liked them)

not bad.though to call it the time monster set they could have included a kronos figure. character and underground should start doing monster/companion collectors sets if they cant include them in these themed sets. its all us fans want.

booboo, which set looks better, this one, or the axon one

    • Posted by: booboo May 22nd, 2011

The axos as it has the Master

    • Posted by: hath57 May 22nd, 2011

I thought this one did too :?:

I WANT this set, but I’ll probably have to turn it down ,and get the 4th Doctor’s screwdriver instead. But this IS a good set for me, because I hated that orange Krynoid from teh previous Master-set.

Bring out ananthony Ainley Master, with his Tardis COLUMN. I’d buy that in a FLASH!!

    • Posted by: someone May 21st, 2011

Not many know this but the sculpts were different between axon and krynoid, minor tentacles and patterns but never the less different.

Is the Krynoid not certain? Surely an easy choice.

the TCE was used by the 1st & 3rd masters, useful tool for him!

  13. Posted by: magicwho1 May 18th, 2011 Reply

so the big things the tardis. Is that a sonic screwdriver in his hand?

    • Posted by: who crazy! May 19th, 2011

      Its his TCE! Honestly…

    • Posted by: E.T Doctor May 19th, 2011

It myt be im not sure.

can the master get in the tardis if not nobody will get it(definitly not me anyway)

    • Posted by: booboo May 17th, 2011

I dont think it opens in anyway

    • Posted by: McGann is The Doctor. May 21st, 2011

I dont care if he cant get into that Tardis thing. It’s not ever been seen by me before, what?, yes Ive never seen that episode (but I will, later, on VHS) so I dont really care,

It’s a good set, I kid you not, because you get the excellent figure of Roger Delgado’s Master for £20. If you watched “The Time Monster” and didnt buy that lame Axonn (yeah, Axonn, in name only) set then you should definately have no qualms about GETTING this!! I dont. (actually, I do because I want the other Master,
Anthony Ainley, but this set’s still…

  15. Posted by: Sam Bradbury May 17th, 2011 Reply

I prefered the master and axon boxset

    • Posted by: Silence Will Fall May 21st, 2011

Me too!!! this is only one figure and all the rest are accessories apart from the TARDIS.

  16. Posted by: Dalek Vader May 17th, 2011 Reply

Pretty cool, I might have prevered Kronos himself or a master varenit but it still looks fantastic. Maybe we will see them later in the line. Also does roger’s hair look whiter?

  17. Posted by: superdalek May 17th, 2011 Reply

Not bad, not bad at all.

  18. Posted by: hardold saxon May 17th, 2011 Reply

Love this, what a really cool item for master fans!Nice collection of item,i would buy it even though i have the axon set.

  19. Posted by: someone May 16th, 2011 Reply

May I just clarify some things which seem to be spreading around online forums…

The Master is identicle sculpt to the axon set one.
    The Tardis is not electronic.
    The Tardis does not open.
    The Tardis is rotocast.
The Tardis has a hole in the bottom due to it being rotocast (the same process used to make fast fod toy give aways)
The Tardis is sculpted and the front is NOT a sticker that would be far too cheap for COs already far too cheap choices.

    • Posted by: Dalek Vader May 17th, 2011

shame it won’t open but oh, well it’s still a tardis. When you say rotocast do you mean like sil from the peri and sil two pack?

    • Posted by: someone May 17th, 2011

      Yes, and the sontaran ship.

This will have a hole in the bottom!

Oh my goodness, I was only just watching The Time Monster at the Weekend! Well it’s a Great set but was a Red Jacketed Pertwee too much to ask for after all if you’ve got the Doctor’s accesory, where’s the Doctor?

  21. Posted by: McGann is The Doctor. May 16th, 2011 Reply

WoW this is COOL. They must have really watched the Time Monster, which I AM by the way getting on VHS. ;)

Or maybe DVD, but then it looks bad on my DVD shelf cause it’s like a mix of the two other Jon Pertwee stories The Time Warrior and Monster of Peladon. But we’ll see about that. ;)

  22. Posted by: the doctor and bradley May 16th, 2011 Reply

didnt get the axon set but i will buy this

  23. Posted by: crazy doctor who fan May 16th, 2011 Reply

    how much do these cost?

    • Posted by: booboo May 16th, 2011

      £19.99

    • Posted by: Mumble5557 May 18th, 2011

To be honest its not a bad price but i like series 5-6 action figures wave 1 more. I might buy this but its a general price.

  24. Posted by: 4thDoctorForever May 16th, 2011 Reply

(apologies for repeating this twice but I made a mistake while uploading it).

it’s good that CO & UT are doing more playsets but why release the same Master figure agian!

They could of easily retooled a john simm body into the suit the master wears in the first half of the episode and put the Delgado head on.

Though it come’s with cool acessorys and another TARDIS but having a rereleased figure has really put me off. I’ll have another think on whever I should buy it

  25. Posted by: bow tie May 16th, 2011 Reply

    LOL oh yeah :)

they should have done his TARDIS interior from logopolis

  27. Posted by: Jonatahn Turner May 16th, 2011 Reply

Nice set although I won’t be getting it

  28. Posted by: Jack Grady May 16th, 2011 Reply

i hope the TARDIS has sounds

  29. Posted by: JaredofMO May 16th, 2011 Reply

This better be cheap, seeing as Delgaldo’s already been released. I’d suspect many would want it for his TARDIS and the accessories.
