Forbidden Planet Exclusive Tom Baker Scratchman Signing

Exclusive Tom Baker Signing Sat 26 Jan 2019 from 12:30 to 13:30 at their London Megastore

Please note that this is a wristband ONLY event and Tom Baker will only be signing copies of the book purchased on the day. Details on wristband collection can be found here.

Forbidden Planet are thrilled to announce an exclusive appearance by Tom Baker, signing copies of his Doctor Who novel, Scratchman, at our London Megastore on Saturday 26th January at 12:30.

“What are you afraid of?”

The Doctor, Harry and Sarah Jane Smith arrive at a remote Scottish island, when their holiday is cut short by the appearance of strange creatures – hideous scarecrows, who are preying on the local population. The islanders are living in fear, and the Doctor vows to save them all. But it doesn’t go to plan – the time travellers have fallen into a trap, and Scratchman is coming for them.

Tom Baker is best known for his role as the Fourth Doctor in the BBC hit series Doctor Who from 1974-1981. After leaving the show, Tom continued to act and provide voiceover work for many popular British TV programmes including Black Adder, Agatha Christie’s Marple, Little Britain, and many more. He is the author of an autobiography, Who On Earth Is Tom Baker? and the darkly comic novel, The Boy Who Kicked Pigs.

Hate to put a downer on things, but at events like this, when they say he’s only signing the book, he really is only signing the book. Bear in mind, he has a hundred wristbands to get through in an hour so you will get a minute with him perhaps at the absolute most.

I wonder if this may happen with Eric Saward when both of the novelisation are published?

Probably, FP London do signing events for literally everything. I remember last year when they had James Goss in two days in a row, first signing the Missy Chronicles and then the City of Death novelisation the next day.

It says on Tom Baker’s own website that he will be selling autographed book plates to attach into the book. Not as fun as meeting the man himself but better than nothing and ideal for those of us who pre-ordered. I got a copy of his autobiography signed back in the 90’s and he was brilliant.

What a nice idea though. Roger Moore I believe did a similar thing for his books.

Sadly it’s a long way to go if there’s no guarantee of even getting in. It’s also a shame that I only heard about this having just had my pre-ordered copy delivered. I image others will have ordered this book already too. But to those that go, have a great time meeting Tom. He’s brilliant!
And Tom’s audio reading of Scratchman from Audible does not disappoint either.

Am I the only one who sees the flaw in having a hundred wristbands to get through in an hour? Betting this will definitely overrun by a good half hour at least.
