I haven’t bought the last couple of issues of Doctor Who Magazine. Unfortunately I can take or leave the magazine, just like the current series. It’s not must see TV anymore, hence it’s not a must buy magazine.

Still love the series but haven’t bought the mag for 8 years

Has there been another comic strip with that title? Seems really familiar

I wish they’d stop putting the word ‘cosplay’ on the front. Why not say something like ‘costume tips’ instead. Adults buy this magazine as well. We’re not all 12 you know!

And not everybody is an old man who likes reading the rating statistics. As you said the magazine is for everybody, so what’s wrong with having Cosplay for younger readers? Skip it if it bores you, it’s 4 pages out of 84.

Absolute Sad as anything to hear there OFFICALY is no Christmas special
Chris is just doing anything to be different without actually (in my opinion) Writing Good Scripts

Yes,but it’s still a festive period special, why are people complaining? There is still a special being shown!

From what I’ve heard, the episode is actually ABOUT the beginning of 2019. So it makes sense. It’s not the first time we have had a New Year Special, maybe it’s time to start new tradition!

I wonder if it was a deliberate snub, or a decision based on viewing figures of the last series, made before this episode was even written. It just seems odd that after all these years DW has been shunted from a coveted Christmas Day slot. I mean, I do remember back when we didn’t have any new Who for many years, but nowadays it’s supposed to be one of the jewels in their crown.

No it’s not a snub, it’s a creative decision to do a story linked to new years day 2019.

I think fans not appreciating why some are upset about it are rather lacking empathy. Christmas can be a lonely time for many, and a show like Doctor Who might be the only thing they’re looking forward to spending it alone.

I appreciate that Leon, but that’s not a lack of empathy as no posts have indicated that situation. If somebody said that then I’d fully understand and offer my sympathies.

Just got this in the post and its 100% confirmed, there is no christmas special but there will be a new years day special, shame because i always looked forward to watching it at night after opening presents at christmas

What exactly did they say about it?

Xmas day or new years day, doesn’t make a difference to me as long as we have an extra episode at the holiday festive season.

@Still not Ginger – Just says they preview the New Years Day episode on the coming next issue page.
