I reckon the knowledgeable people on here will be able to answer this.

Which of the Titan graphic novels are only available in paperback?

I’ve got a collection with most of the 10th, 11th, and 12th volumes in hardback as I prefer hardbacks over paperbacks, but I’m not sure when Titan moved over to releasing them as paperback only.

I’ll happily buy the paperbacks if there’s no hardback version, but I’d rather get the hardback where one exists.

Any idea if/when actual retailers will be selling packs of the new Battles In Time cards?

None to my knowledge? B&M & Zavvi are selling the sets, but honestly if you are after a full set it will be a waste of time. They are so Limited that only a handful of very wealthy people will actually get a set. The 2 Cruise cards most people will never get, the 2nd Doctor metal card is Limited to a hundred & the Vortex cards will be nigh on impossible.

UK 11th/12th/13th Doctor Blu-ray Sets aren’t happening people.

Response from BBC DVD enquiry email…

“We have no plans in the UK at present, but this will be considered again in the future.

    Best wishes,

    BBC Studios Home Entertainment”

That’s pretty much a stock answer. Ask them if they have any plans on any release not yet anounced or up for pre order and they say they have no plans currently. Dvd enquiry usually have no clue what’s being released until it’s either up for pre order or announced. I remember back in the day asking about release date for things I knew what was happening and they said there was no plans to release them at present

They did take two weeks to come back with an answer though which they usually do within 48 hours when giving a standard reply.

      Probably be announced soon then

Just seen some of the new Battles In Time cards listed for sale online and seen a card for ‘Susan Twist’… Not ‘Susan Triad’… So they have made a card for the actress, not the character. Interesting oversight.

One thing I’ve always wondered is why Character Options replicated the 11th Doctor’s Series 6 tweed jacket only once (lighter colour with reddish lines, instead of plain dark brown). The variant that came with the Christmas Carol set is literally THE ONLY TIME they did this. After that they reverted back to the Series 5 style for all future tweed jacketed 11s.
I’ve always thought this was odd considering they already did it once very successfully imo. So it’s not like they couldn’t do it or weren’t aware (as so many aren’t) of the change in look between Series 5 and 6.
Was it too expensive to add the reddish lines? I can’t imagine that’d be the case. Even with them, 11’s outfit is EXTREMELY simple compared to other Doctors CO still do even now on a budget.
Strange really, considering that S6 jacket was the outfit he ended up wearing the most, for around 16 Episodes. Series 5 tweed = 13 eps, Purple outfit = 10 Eps & Green coat = 4 eps, roughly.
It’s not my favourite (I prefer his Series 5 look) but arguably it’s his most iconic outfit. Plus the plain shirts of S6 paired with the plain jacket of S5 makes for a boring look, so it’s a shame that that’s what they defaulted to.

They’ve technically only done series 5 11 once too. The jacket he wears in 10 out of 13 episodes was only ever sculpted on the fez 11 that came with the pandorica wall, and even then they painted it a shade of orange rather than the dark brown.
He wore a different jacket in victory and the angel 2 parter, which is the one that got used on every series 5, 6 and 7a 11 figure (apart from the fez one), except they painted it a dark brown to match the one he uses for most of series 5.
The only time the brown tweed sculpt has been painted correctly was in the 13 doctors set, although ironically they claimed it was from the beast below, so I think that leaves 7b 11 as the only jacket wearing 11 figure without any errors lol.

An 11th Doctor is coming soon on the B and M, apparently…
With Amy, so I’m guessing in a tweed jacket…

Ah that’s a good point Mrs Croot! Although to be honest the differences between the Series 5 jackets don’t really bother me. There’s always going to be inaccuracies, I just sort of take it as ‘this is CO’s version of Series 5’. Whereas, they’ve clearly attempted, successfully, to do their version of S6, but then just dropped it after one time. Just always wondered why.
Don’t recall ever noticing the jacket was a different mould on the Fez version, so that’s interesting! Although it has been a while since I saw that one. I think I was always too focused on and perplexed as to why it was painted so weirdly to notice haha. Again, weird that they never used this more accurate sculpt again.

If Character did another collect and build wave what would people want to see in the sets? Just out of curiosity? I’d love to see:
    Barbara and Susan
    Ben and Polly
    Jamie and Victoria
Wheel in Space Cyberman and Zoe (new head on a Martha jones body for her purple jumpsuit maybe)
    Daffodil man auton two pack
    Hand of Fear Sarah Jane
    Adric and Nyssa
    Terileptil two pack
Attack of the Cybermen cyber controller
Mel and the Rani two pack
Tetrap and haemovore (seventh Doctor villain two pack)
Bad Wolf 9 and Rose (proper articulation)
    New articulation 10th Doctor
Ice warrior two pack with swappable head for Friday
Whispermen two pack (use The Snowmen 11th Doctor body)
Zygon two pack with osgood boxes
Face the Raven 12th Doctor and Clara
Series 10 long black velvet coat 12th Doctor with interchangeable shirt and waistcoat piece or hoodie and emojibot with a thin ice fish
    Nardole and monk two pack
    Mondasian Cybermen two pack
Kerblam man (new head and hands on an existing figure body) with a new sculpt 2021 sontaran (13th Doctor enemies two pack)
    Swarm and Azure
Dan and weeping angel with a new head sculpt to match village of the angels
    2020 Cybermen two pack
    Cybermasters two pack
Master two pack (Dhawan and 2017 simm)
    Donna and Toymaker two pack
Miss Belinda Chandra robot and Belinda two pack
    Kate Stewart and a shreek

Some collect and build figures could be Ashad, Tractators, maybe the attack cyber controller instead of it being its own standalone figure, mantraps from dot and bubble

I’m not really into the companions….none of the female ones stand up anyway…
And I’m more into classic than modern Dr Who…I like your 80s monster choices, but I would add just about every other 80s monster and villain there has been…you all know what ones…
      And….Quarks, Delegates from Dalek Master Plan…Vervoids, Valeyard….
That lot would make my year….!

I don’t really get the point of wishlists that are as fantastical and expansive to this degree. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love all this too. But at that rate it’s kind of just a list of every character they haven’t done yet, and improvements to ones they have done.
Realistically, I’d guess the next wave, based on the current one, would be something like:
Set 1: Dalek Drone Two Pack
Set 2: 13th Doctor set of some kind
      Set 3: Jamie Figure
Set 4: Vortex Articulation 10th Doctor??
Set 5: Quark Set perhaps idk. Maybe an Attack CyberController & Cyberman.
All to build a………. not sure. Dalek Emperor maybe?

I’m personally hoping Al Dewar pans away from the 70’s a bit as it’s been so successfully represented so far that I’d like to see other eras get more figures. Of the current wave of six items, half are from the 70’s. At this point I primarily just want a Jamie. It’s kind of wild to me that the most prolific companion still hasn’t got a figure, yet we’re now getting one of Liz Shaw who appeared in just 4 stories (although I am certainly glad to get her too!).

      80s fixation, see….?

      August 25th, 2026 - 9:24pm

Well Jamie is the companion that’s been in more episodes than any other companion in the entire history of the show, so he’s immensely important I’d say. Not to mention, the 2nd Doctor is the only Doctor not to have any representation companion-wise (aside from the 8th ofc) so I think it’s just fair, especially considering the two were almost inseparable. Plus I think it’d be nice for Frazer Hines as he’s expressed a desire for a figure, so I’ve read.

    • Professor Flibble

      August 25th, 2026 - 9:25pm

You don’t get why people would want a Jamie figure…?

In retrospect, I’d prefer if Al Dewar didn’t pick favourites in terms of story representation quite as much, and the general character and monster representation was more evenly spread out. There should’ve been a Jamie figure years ago. Troughton looks very lonely on the shelf, couple of Daleks and Cybermen, an Ice Warrior – yet you can practically recreate Pyramids of Mars. And I’m not just saying this because Curse of Peladon is my favourite story, but it’s bizarre they never made a set with an Alpha Centauri figure or something.

    • Professor Flibble

      August 25th, 2026 - 9:34pm

Also, in terms of my personal wishlist, not just characters who are a given or a console room playset cause we all want those:

A Web Planet set, a Zarbi, a Menoptera, an Optera and a larvae gun

A Curse of Peladon set, Lord Izlyr, Alpha Centauri, Aggedor. Maybe Arcturus if he could fit in the box

A Leisure Hive set, old Fourth Doctor, Foamasi, Pangol

      A Tractator

A Trial of a Time Lord Sixth Doctor with a new head sculpt

Bit of a long shot but accurate Classic police boxes, particularly now the 2010 sculpt’s broken.

    • War Chief.

      August 25th, 2026 - 9:37pm

Well, representation seems to be today’s buzzword….
Re 2nd Doctor, soon we’ll have a Yeti…and many people want a Quark, myself included….
I’d love some Curse of Peladon figures….an Ice Lord…Arcturus….

    • War Chief.

      August 25th, 2026 - 9:40pm

Professor, I love those figures….particularly the Leisure Hive set…
I want a Valeyard with the Trial Set though, natch…

    • Professor Flibble

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:08pm

Well that’s the thing, it doesn’t look quite so complete on the shelf if there aren’t a couple of companions. I feel each Doctor should have at least two or three of their companions and original monsters and villains, and Daleks and Cybermen are just a given. With what’s been released already, maybe these ones should be prioritised.

1st Doctor: Barbara, Susan, a Zarbi and Menoptera, a Monoid, the Celestial Toymaker

2nd Doctor: Jamie, Zoe, a fish person, a Macra, Salamander, a Quark, a Dominator, a Kroton, the War Chief

      3rd Doctor: Alpha Centauri, Bellal

4th Doctor: Adric, a Rutan, the Captain, a Mandrel, Foamasi, Pangol, a Marshman, the Watcher

5th Doctor: Turlough (given the version of Tegan is from Resurrection), the Mara, a Terileptil, Omega, the Myrka, a Tractator

6th Doctor: Mel, Glitz, Mestor, the Rani, Drathro, a Vervoid, the Inquisitor, the Valeyard

7th Doctor: the Kandyman, a God of Ragnarok, Morgaine, the Destroyer, a Haemovore, a Cheetah person

I adore The Leisure Hive, I think a set for that story would be fantastic. And yeah, a Trial Sixth Doctor would also be a good opportunity to do a Valeyard figure.

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:15pm

From 63 to 89, there is a massive back catalogue of characters, monsters, villains, companions, Doctor repaints and maybe even a few TARDIS that could be done. Loads of eras are poorly represented, however the toys have to sell and some stories won’t be as popular with fans.

Even so, I’d for Emperor Dalek or Azal for 2027 C&B

    • War Chief.

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:19pm

I second the War Chief…! Plus War Lord and Security Chief….
As I’m just watching The Underwater Menace, yay to the Fish Person…
Also Lytton and some Dalek Troopers…
      Not sure about the Myrka….
      Fenric as Sorin….

    • Scotel

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:23pm

      @Professor Flibble

There are a lot of factors that go into choosing what to make. Of the 14 things you listed, eleven of them would be ground up totally new sculpts with no opportunities to reuse for later releases. That’s not practical when you have a limited budget so even if you did want to prioritise those it would take several years to get through them all.

Jamie will need to be a completely fresh sculpt with limited reuse potential outside of possible Jamie variants (and no he has already checked, it won’t work for Ncuti Gatwa, totally different body build and very different style of kilt). It’s something they want to do, but it’s something they want to do right. Nobody wants a half hearted Jamie.

It also isn’t all out of personal preferences (it will be a factor to an extent, but not the only thing as several people are involved in the choices). The reality is there’s a reason why 70s Who gets a lot of attention, there’s a reason why a story like Pyramids of Mars which is universally loved gets picked a lot. Certain Doctors’ eras sell a lot better than others. It would be nice to spread them out and they do make an effort to do so but there’s limits because they don’t want stock stuck in their warehouse.

    • Professor Flibble

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:43pm

Yeah you’re right it would take years but that’s sort of the point. If they didn’t end up doing every single monster, character etc, having a Turlough figure to go with the Resurrection Tegan, a Tractator and a Terileptil or something would make the Davison era look, idk about complete but you’d have a TARDIS team and a couple of monsters and it’d be a decent sample of the Davison era. Troughton is the big issue though. He doesn’t have a single companion and it’s not far off 20 years since the range started.

Thing is, at least talking about the late 2000s and early 2010s, personal preference did play a large part in the character selection back then. The original Fifth Doctor didn’t have celery on his coat because Al didn’t like it. The only monster in that first wave that wasn’t a Hinchcliffe era monster was the Sea Devil, and that’s still from the 70s. Things have improved and now they’re doing more 60s and 80s stuff which is fantastic but it’s a shame there’s still significant gaps like Jamie or practically any original McCoy villain.

    • Professor Flibble

      August 25th, 2026 - 10:50pm

Oh also should’ve added a 1970 Silurian to the list, particularly because they’ve done the 1984 ones.

But yeah, I’m not quite saying “do every single one of these,” more “maybe consider these ones.” Complete a TARDIS team, do a monster or two. Represent a recurring character like Glitz or Alpha Centauri. Given they’ve done the Wirrn and the Yeti in this new wave, they could certainly do a Tractator or a Foamasi or something.

    • The Outcast

      August 26th, 2026 - 1:56pm

In recent years, we have started to see all new, from the ground up, figures. As such, I do think a Jamie figure is possible.

My wishlist is quite large, so I won’t bother posting it in full, but I do hope that next year we’ll get more stuff from the 60s and 80s than the 70s. I mean, there’s still plenty of 70s items I want (Silurians, Ice Lord, etc), but I do think the 80s and 60s could use a few more companions and monsters.

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      August 26th, 2026 - 4:40pm

A new Jamie figure could act as a base for other characters, similar to the recent Tegan design. I think they’ve exhausted all possibilities for the slightly beefy Axon Man mould by now.

    • The Unlicensed Physician

      August 26th, 2026 - 5:54pm

You could get reuse by making the Mind Robber or Evil outfit, with kilt as a wrap or even actual material. Just don’t have the kilt element make him podgy a la the 80s Master with his moulded coat tails.
