100% Unofficial fan-produced book in aid of Cancer Research UK
The Zygon Outer Space Diaries has been three years in the making! A true labour of love edited by Paul Cooke, the proceeds of all copies sold will be donated to Cancer Research UK , a charity dear to my heart. If you’re a Doctor Who fan, you’ll recognise these shapeshifting aliens, among the very best and most memorable of the Doctor’s enemies. This book takes the Zygons from their original appearance in the TV story Terror of the Zygons and spins a complete narrative of how they came to be interested in the planet Earth, pointing the way to their later appearances in the modern show – all in the style of a British 1970s/1980s Christmas gift annual! That means text stories, comic strips, puzzle pages, informative features and articles on the nature of Zygon culture and all the 70s stylings (and ads) you could hope for.
Paul won’t shout about his monumental achievement in conceiving the project and co-ordinating the various contributions from many professional Doctor Who spin-off alumni, but I will. Holding the finished book in my hands, I’m blown away by the love and care that’s gone into it. If you are a fan of Who literature and print media, please believe me, this is a sumptuous tome you’ll want to add to your library. And, did I mention, it’s for an excellent cause?
Featuring luminaries and fan favourites including Trevor Baxendale, Adrian Salmon, Martin Geraghty, Martin Simmonds, Andy Walker, Smuzz, Andrew-Mark Thompson, Graeme Neil Reid and many others, including yours truly and a plethora of fan talent. My contribution is a short story, The Luck of the Duke of Forgill, which, broadly speaking, is about Mrs. Broton, plus a painting for one of the features. The short story is illustrated by one of the true greats of Doctor Who illustration, Adrian Salmon, well known to readers of DWM.
Zygons created by Robert Banks Stewart and James Acheson, (c) BBC. This is a fan publication in aid of charity; no copyright infringement is intended and any and all monies collected from the sale of this book are to be donated to Cancer Research UK.

April 24th, 2022 - 10:55amI get that the people who make these charity anthologies like seeing their hard work in print, but they could make so much more money available to the worthwhile charities they’re supporting by also making them available in scanned ebook formats online. I get that printing can be prohibitively expensive with low print run collector’s items like this, but making them available electronically helps eliminate that cost.
Bringing the costs down would definitely increase the sales.
Also, you could give nearly all of the money we spend to these worthwhile charities, instead of to the high printing costs and shipping! A win/win for everyone!

April 21st, 2022 - 6:50pmAnd a big THANK YOU to this board for your raising awareness of all the wonderful Doctor Who publications!
You have made me financially poorer but oh, so much richer!

April 19th, 2022 - 4:39pmLooks really nice but it is quite dear although I know that’s what these kinds of things cost and the charity donation is a positive thing.
I wondered if this was a limited edition, is for a limited time or will be around until Lulu decide to take it down. Might be one to get down the line or when there’s a good discount.

April 19th, 2022 - 4:30pmThis looks interesting but I just can’t afford it at the moment. Oh, and I’m having trouble with PayPal at lulu. They keep refusing to authorise payments.

April 21st, 2022 - 1:25amHello Mark!
Please keep us updated here as to your own annuals.
(I tried joining fb so I could read Terraqueous posts and within 24 hours they disabled my account with no explanation — and I had yet to post anything.)
Cheers!

April 21st, 2022 - 6:47pm@ Mark,
First, apologies for doing this in a public forum, I couldn’t find another contact method.
I’m not on socials but I had been keeping up by reading posts on your fb page until that switched to ‘private’ last year. I finally bit the bullet and joined fb so I could join the group and the ai disabled me permanently before 24 hours had elapsed with no explanation.
I did manage to purchase the omnibus and one previous annual in years past (and yesterday, The Zygons) and am looking forward to the upcoming books!
Thanks for all of your efforts!
