Those three, reflecting the top three are the best choices for either quality or length.

DMP on length. It’s as long as three normal stories and is fascinating at times
Evil on excellence and also length
      Fury on visuals, and story.

      Completely agree with you!

Why is ‘The Crusade’ not on the list? If it’s because it’s already available (with audio for episodes 2 & 4) on the ‘Lost in Time’ DVD set, why then would ‘Galaxy Four’ be included, when a photographic, CGI, clips reconstruction alongside episode 3 was included with ‘The Aztecs’ DVD release. I understand though why ‘Galaxy Four’ is fairing poorly in this poll. As it’s reconstruction with the existing episode 3 was very good and I think for many, more than adequate.

‘The Savages’ is missing as well. So I think it wasn’t left out but simply forgotten

Thought it had a release with the space museum but now rember that was VHS where it did have its own release

The Savages is one of the most unloved stories anyway sadly, despite the excellent Frederick Jaegar, so most people would not consider it.

The Crusade you get a good enough sense from the two episodes we have.

Galaxy Four reconstruction is very good, and tagging it on as a special feature was wrong; it deserved its own spine. That said, with what we have, a full 90 minute animation version would be just too much. The concise version is excellent for modern audiences.

‘Galaxy Four’ was a very good reconstruction alongside episode 3 (Airlock). I wouldn’t think there is any real need to re-release the story. It works fine as it currently is.

      @Booboo

The Crusade came out on vhs with The Space Museum. No episodes exist at all from The Savages, just a few clips.

I quite like The Savages. I find the whole draining of life forces element rather creepy and as near to vampirism as Doctor Who got in the Hartnell era.

‘The Savages’ is ridiculously underrated. It’s one of those stories that if found would be re-appreciated I’m sure.

Would they animate episodes even though they still exist? If they would do “Daleks’ Masterplan” (with “Mission” of course which I would want to have in a separate DVD case) they would have the option of skipping episodes 2, 5 and 10 or do animations for those as well. That way they could show a complete cartoon in widescreen and colour.

My best guess for the next story to be animated is “Fury from the deep”. It’s a great story that many people would want to see and it is lost completely and they wouldn’t have to bother with existing material

I voted Marco Polo, The Celestial Toymaker and The Macra Terror. Three gems of the black and white era, two of which are often overlooked.

I wish someone at Disney ( since they spent 4 billion dollars to purchase Marvel, and equally huge chunks of change for Star wars, and Pixar.) Would be like: Hey check this out, Doctor who has like 14 missing stories…Lets fund that cause it’s chump change…

Maybe they could cash in a little more

      November 11th, 2016 - 11:07am

That would be good. The only problem for the BBC would be that Disney would want first runs of them on their channels not on the BBC, especially BBC America.

That depends on the BBC. Don’t forget that the BBC mysteriously tweeted a year ago (June 25th, 2016), that they are hoping to release more Classic Doctor Who DVDs. There could be a possibility that more missing episodes are being recovered, but who knows?

What’s good about having missing stories being animated (e.g. Power of the Daleks), because we know the original episodes are still there elsewhere, but it is least likely ones to be returned and might take years to find. At the moment, just enjoy and wait and see what treats the BBC brings to us!

Any episode would be fine with me. But If I were in charge of what would be animated first, I would animate all missing Dalek and Cyberman episodes first, because I feel like they are the most important lost episodes and I am properly quite biased for 60s Dalek and Cybermen.

Daleks Masterplan for its epic scale.

Celestial Toymaker for its fun concept.

The Faceless Ones for its frightening concept.

Absolute top number one is Evil of the Daleks.

Any of the rest would still be decent, but in my view Evil of the Daleks needs to come first.

Secondly would be The Wheel in Space. Thirdly is joint between The Celestial Toymaker and The Abominable Snowman.

    The Savages?

It’s interesting after watching ‘Power’ that most fans agreed the animation for ‘The Invasion’ was the strongest project to date when neither of the episodes animated (episode 1 and episode 4) had telesnaps taken by John Cura at the time.

Personally, I feel the strength of ‘Power’ (in my opinion, the best animated project to date!) as an animated reconstruction lies in the fact it looks so similar to the original. I can’t see how you can animate stories such as ‘The Myth Makers’ and ‘The Massacre’ effectively when there is so little visual material.

Would love to see animations (please BBC) for:

    1. Fury from the deep – favourite 2nd Doctor adventure; Quatermass-like, brooding and scary!
    2. The Dalek’s Masterplan – A truly epic (and long!) 1st Doctor adventure with the Daleks, Mavic Chen, Meddling Monk, Sara Kingdom, Steven and more!
    3. Evil of the Daleks – first appearance of Victoria, Skaro, Dalek Civil War, the ‘human’ factor, the dalek factor, Doctor playing ‘trains’ with daleks, fan-favourite
    4. The Macra Terror – another good 2nd Doctor adventure with Ben, Polly, Jamie, songs(!), good cast and good cliffhangers!

Hi All. Why no Crusade. Its never had a complete DVD release. Even though the two episodes are on The LOST IN TIME collection, the same could be said for Galaxy four or Evil of the Daleks. Which have also only had , everything thats left, on DVD.

one of the issues with the crusade would be the blackface used, how would you animate it? considering how ‘inclusive’ the beeb are trying to be lately, i doubt the crusade will be coming anytime soon. shame though as the crusade is one of my favourite episodes!
