Wand Company 12th Doctor Remote

The Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Remote Control is finally here to give Doctor Who fans what they have been asking for: a brand new, hero prop replica which is a superb recreation of the Sonic Screwdriver used by Peter Capaldi in Series 8.

A limited run of 168 laser-etched numbered Sonics will be available exclusively to purchase on the BBC AMERICA booth (#4129) for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con (8th-12th July 2015) prior to general sale from 7th September from www.BBCShop.com .

Extended-sonic-box-and-manu

The new Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver is a fully functioning gesture-based universal remote control which can control your TV and other home entertainment equipment. Learning the gestures and programming the Sonic Screwdriver is easy, and the intuitive gestures allow the user to become the Doctor. Flick it open and the clasps extend with a satisfying clunk; press the grip mounted button for instant light and sound action or use the Any-TV-Off function just for fun!

The Twelfth Sonic has been made in direct response to the huge number of requests that The Wand Company received from fans all over the world asking for an extending version of their famous Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver.

Extended-sonic

“Since our Eleventh Doctor’s Sonic went on sale, we have had a constant stream of requests from fans of all ages asking us to make an extending version. It wasn’t easy to engineer a solidly reliable device that can withstand being repeatedly flicked to extend it, but we’ve been able to do it, and I’m certain that any fan of Doctor Who is going to love it,” said Chris Barnardo, co-founder of The Wand Company.

Jason Easy, Senior Licensing Manager at BBC Worldwide, said, “The Wand Company continually exceed expectations with their range of Sonic Screwdrivers, and the Twelfth Doctor’s Sonic is no exception. The Sonics are not just technologically sophisticated, but also beautifully made and have exciting features that delight fans.”

It’ll be nice to finally get an extending 11th/12th Doctor sonic screwdriver metal replica in my price range, even though it’s primary function is as a universal remote control. 🙂

Bit annoyed the US get it first (no offence to any USA users) as they don’t pay a licence for Doctor Who when we do and we basically are missing out 🙁

SDCC is a huge stage for deputing products to the public.

Its a bit lacking in imagination…..another version of the same sonic screwdriver……still if that’s what they think fans want the lack of imagination must be coming from fans….

I’m hoping for a 4th Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver, that’s probably the next most recognisable one. Unless this isn’t a screwdriver, of course

I have both and I like the sound affect feature on 10s better. 10s does open and close. Yes, you should get 10s sonic.

Very happy it’s just a re-jig of the 11th. Doctor’s sonic as I won’t be buying it. Now if Capaldi’s 12th. Doctor had a totally different sonic, then I would have had to have forked out for one.

I think it might be a classic Sonic Screwdriver. Either the 3rd or 4th. I would most likely suggest 4th because I know lots of people did email last year sometime.

Although it might just be the 11th Sonic with an extendable feature being marketed as the 12th Doctor’s Sonic.

Hmmm I know what Id like the Transmutator locator core from the key to time as a remote control with the cube as its stand…now that would be worth having and probably somewhat cheaper than the various excellent though expensive fan made versions of the Key to Time on the market.

Well I could suggest a well liked dr who character who would make a good remote control…but we”l have to wait for an ‘affirmative’ or ‘negative master’

The War Doctor’s sonic is the only logical model of the Doctors left to make, due to the light emitter, but I just can’t imagine there being the demand. I think you would also struggle to make a replica out of it because the most accurate you will get is the Character Options product, given a toy Fourth Doctor sonic was the base of the prop!

I am curious as to what it could be. I can’t think of any suitable sonic screwdriver models beyond the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor’s. Perhaps River Song’s? I can’t imagine there being the market somehow. On the other hand, these also substitute as replica models at a cheap price so perhaps there is the demand!

Neither can I. River and the War Doctor’s sonics are the only logical choices left to make a remote control from, but I just can’t picture either being popular, certainly not the latter. River may be relatively popular, as I said these products also act as a replica prop, but one would imagine sales will be much lower than that of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor’s.
