Two brand-new Doctor Who audio original adventures, Firefall and Counterstrike, will launch on 2nd
October 2025 on Audible, Spotify, and all other audiobook platforms. Bringing fresh storylines and
excitement to the Whoniverse and featuring the Fifteenth Doctor and Belinda these gripping
standalone tales are written by acclaimed authors Beth Axford and Una McCormack. The readings are
accompanied by sound design and the familiar Doctor Who theme music.
Doctor Who: Firefall
Michelle Asante, who plays Abena in The Story and the Engine and In the Forest of the Night, reads
Beth Axford’s sensitive tale of outsiders in search of a place to call home.
Floating high above Earth, the Doctor and Belinda enjoy the legendary Leonids meteor shower of 1833,
when the skies teemed with shooting stars. One meteor is bigger and brighter than the others and
shows no sign of breaking up in the planetary atmosphere.
The travellers follow it to the village of Drummondville and begin the hunt for a fallen star. There’s a strained atmosphere in the sleepy town, where two buildings mysteriously caught fire overnight. Belinda meets young Mary Moss, who’s harbouring something extraordinary – something that must be kept safe from the other villagers.
What strange entity has landed, and how might it affect all life on Earth? The Doctor and Belinda try
to broker peace between Leo and its human hosts, before things get out of control… (1 hour 10 minutes)
Beth Axford is a freelance author, editor, journalist and podcast host. Her recent work includes editing
Puffin’s Doctor Who book range, as well as penning several short story adventures for the Doctor, plus
regular reporting for Doctor Who Magazine. She is also the author of the upcoming Official Doctor
Who Quiz Book.
Doctor Who: Counterstrike
Clare Corbett (Doctor Who: The Good Doctor) reads an exciting new adventure of systems error and
the perils of automation written by Una McCormack.
Landing on an unnamed planet, the Doctor and Belinda find themselves besieged by a swarm of
drones. They shelter in a cluster of hi-tech buildings, they find living quarters and a control base. The
only thing missing is any sign of life. While the Doctor puzzles over a base without people, Belinda
finds herself whisked away by teleport.
Meanwhile, three thousand light years away, project manager Hazzet is puzzled by unusual systems
activity on the uninhabited Colony 5. An automated probe was sent there months ago – so why are
there now apparently two bases on the planet, each poised to attack the other?
With the Doctor in one base and Belinda in the other, a race against time begins to avoid mutually
assured destruction… (1 hour 10 minutes)
