Titan Comics Doctor Who Missy #1

Available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.com

A collected edition is also available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.com

Titan Comics are excited to announce that this April will see both the launch of a brand-new series in the Doctor Who comics line as well as the comic debut of one of the Doctor’s darkest nemeses in Missy #1.

Following on from the huge success of the Doctor Who Comic crossover adventures, starring the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors as they battled iconic villains like the Weeping Angels, Skithra, Sea Devils and Autons, this new story sees the series expand its horizons even further with the first appearance of the Twelfth Doctor’s arch-rival Missy (as played on TV by Michelle Gomez).

MISSY wages war on the Doctor, but this time she’s not alone! Can the combined brilliance of the Third and Twelfth Doctor avert her deadly scheme, or will she get her hands on a secret weapon capable of wreaking havoc on the universe? This special story, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Master’s first appearance, will feature more Doctors and Masters than ever before.

This new series will also see the return of the critically acclaimed creative team behind the Doctor Who comics with Eisner-nominated writer Jody Houser (Stranger Things, Spider-Man), illustrator Roberta Ingranata (Witchblade), and colorist Enrica Angiolini (Warhammer 40,000) all part of this unique and exciting project.

For writer Jody Houser, this upcoming arc has been a long time coming: “I wrote a few pages of Missy way back in The Road to Thirteen, and I’ve been dying to write more of her ever since. Her ineffable cunning and sense of fun make her the most delightful sort of monster.”

Missy #1 will debut with a selection of amazing variant covers, including the first of a stunning four-part Masters connected cover set by Claudia Caranfa featuring Michelle Gomez, John Simm, Roger Delgado and Sacha Dhawan as well as a cover by the fan-favorite artist David Busian (Star Wars Adventures), plus much more!

Doctor Who: Missy #1 hits stores and digital devices April 2021.

My comic arrived this morning. (The one with the Chess set on) from FP.
Unusually though, the cover of the comic is identical to the one above apart from mine says MISSY in huge pink letters at the top, almost covering where it says Dr Who.
Don’t know what that’s all about.(wonder if the promotional photos are not Final?

I’m really excited for this, the Big Finish for Missy really interested me but 1)price and 2) it seemed to do that Big Finish thing where every character needs to crossover with everything with little rhyme or reason to them being there. Titan is nowhere near as bad for that so I look forwards to picking this up 🙂

I find the Titan comics numbering confusing, so I tend to wait for compilations of anything which interests me (which probably means I miss loads of good stuff!!). The artwork is terrible also.
I’m tempted to this though as I love Missy so it’ll be a compilation for me!!

As an aside where do you guys buy these as I never see them.

The Twelfth Doctor art is the best out of all of them, they actually seem to try and make it realistic like the Star Wars comics. Tenth Doctor isn’t bad either, and the third, fourth and seventh Doctors are equally as realistic. The only ones that are really bad are elevens. That art is just really bad

Yeah the art is being done by the same person who does the 13th doctor comics. So it won’t be as good as any of the old stuff. Anyway, I always get the comics from Forbidden Planet, as I assume most do.

The thirteen stuff looks good, as far as I’ve seen. The tenth and thirteen cross over for example. I just get mine off Amazon when they’re all collected in volumes instead of having loose comics everywhere

Yeah the art is fine but I was thinking of The Four Doctors miniseries where Ten looked uncannily like Tennant and the only real dud was Capaldi’s hair when I referenced the older stuff.

On the collected edition, why does it say volume 2, I’m quite interested in this though I’ve never bought a comic before so am unsure what volume 2 means?

“Missy” is the second series of “Doctor Who Comic” hence the volume 2

Its a bit confusing as it seems like this is a separate Missy comic when its not

Loving this. More Missy is just what we need, to cheer us up. Yeah, I know she’s a megalomaniac, murder, but hey, she’s fun now and then

Lovey Homage on the chess set cover to the new Adventures novel THE DIMENSION RIDERS. Brilliant a new range with a classic twist.

I do wish Titan would do an announcement with how many issues. There’s a Vol 1 & 2. For next spring and winter. So that’s at least 8 issues give or take. No subscription option at FP either .

Think it’s more of a coincidence than a homage. Dimension riders chess set is just an ordinary chess set. Mind I loved that cover though. The missy cover is great as well

So is this in addition to the recently relaunched Doctor Who Comic with the thirteenth doctor as they’re calling it Missy issue 1 but cover just says Doctor Who comic?

Bit odd when it’s only been launched a few months ago. So there’s not going to be a regular thirteenth Dr comic then? I guess sales haven’t been so great with her

I thought they’d do this with the 6th Doctor or second seeing as they’re the only ones who don’t appear in their classic Doctor ranges

I would love them to continue making comics with the classic doctor. They already did half of them, only need to do 1,2,5 &6 now.

      January 20th, 2021 - 10:55am

The first Doctor has been done already in the most minuscule way as has the second Doctor technically, but they should both get their own full comic as well. Along with 5 or 6

I wish some company would make a Dr Who chess set with the pieces just like on the cover.
I’d definitely buy it and I don’t even play chess.
(I’d have it in pride of place on display).

This sounds great. Seems Titan are doing what I have wanted them to do since they ended all there other ranges and having 1 revolving door range with different Doctors (or in this case Missy) in each story.

These covers look great, especially the one with Missy in blue outfit, really beautifully painted.
I’ve said many times before wether it’s Blu-ray, Dvd, Cd, Vinyl, book or comic covers, make them stand out and you’ll not only intrigue hardcore fans but even casual buyers enough to want to purchase it.
