The Unofficial Dr Who Annual 1989

Available to order from www.lulu.com

Out Now – The unofficial Dr Who annual 1989 from Terraqueous Distributors

Last year Terraqueous Distributors released ‘The unofficial Dr Who annual 1972’, and ‘The unofficial Dr Who annual 1987’. Earlier this year they released ‘The unofficial Master annual 2074′, and the unofficial Dr Who omnibus’ which all featured stories and illustrations produced by fans, as well as celebrity contributions from the worlds of Doctor Who.

“like all fans who collected the original run of annuals, we were always disappointed that the seventh Doctor never got his own annual. So we had to do something about that, and the response was huge.”

The annual is an impressive 209 pages, featuring stories and illustrations produced by fans, as well as contributions from well known names such as Alister Pearson, Smuzz, Dominic Glynn, Jessica Martin, Mike Tucker, Andrew Skilleter, Andy Walker, Daryl Joyce, Stephen Wyatt writer of ‘The Greatest Show in the Galaxy’ and a foreword by Doctor Who’s script editor of the time – Andrew Cartmel.

There is also a very special Beano style comic strip written by the Beano’s editor John Anderson and illustrated by Beano artist Shannon Gallant and an exclusive short story telling the tale of how Mags and the intergalactic explorer Captain Cook met.

A free to enter competition will also launch on the 23rd November to win an original piece of artwork from the 1989 annual, kindly donated by artist Richard Young. To enter the competition and for further details, please visit the Terraqueous Distributors FaceBook page

The annual is a not-for-profit publication, and non of the money paid by purchasers goes to the publisher or to any of the contributors.

The Unofficial Dr Who Annual 1989 is published by Terraqueous Distributors and available from Lulu at the print-on-demand price of £32.08 plus shipping costs). The annual is a not-for-profit publication, and none of the money paid by purchasers goes to the publisher or to any of the contributors.

There’s no question about it –
These annuals are just getting better and better.

If only they had a small discount for buying more than one, they’d be the perfect answeer to the Christmas Present Problem, rathert than justThat Special Someone.

Home from work and greeted by a rectangular brown parcel in my porch. I was starting to lose hope as the lulu despatch email came on Monday. But I am now the proud owner of the 1989 annual. Full review to follow after the weekend – their Master annual blew me away and Im confident this will be another enjoyable read.

As one of the contributors it’ll be great to hear your thoughts on the book!

I’d like to hold off on my review until I have read more. Recognising some of the names of the writers who are very well known and have been published by other WHO-related publishers like Obverse Books, and even BBC books. I can’t really expect anything other than a high standard. We’re talking Mike Tucker (been in the writing business for years), Paul Driscoll (who has been published many times), and many more.

Then you have other seasoned artists like Smuzz (SMS), Daryl Joyce, Andrew Skilleter, Andrew Pearson, Jessica Martin, and Andy Walker. With names like that you know the book lis gonna look amazing. And it does!

As I say I will do some more reading, and post a review here.

I’ve read 40 pages and enjoyed it so far. Stories are good. Haven’t read your story yet Anthony but I’ve looked at it and the art is brilliant. I’ll do a goodreads review but I’ll let you know what I think in general here.

168 in now and pretty good. The story I’ve just finished, ask H.A.R.R.Y. is probably the weakest one in the book up till now. The other have all been great. Liked your story Anthony, loved the art in it as well. One weak story out of the sixteen I’ve read is very good. Hopefully finish it tomorrow in time for the all flesh is grass novel turning up.

Finished. Apart from one story it’s really good. And that one story is ok just a bit weaker than the others. Review on goodreads.

I wish I could post photos on here of my copy which arrived a couple of days a go. A fantastic read and the illustrations are beyond my expectations.

Everyone who has ever purchased one of these or previous terraqueus annuals know how amazing the quality is.

Royal Mail are under a lot of strain at the moment, hopefully you won’t have long to wait. But trust me, its worth the wait.

I know about the printing delay, it was sent on the 28th so I’d hoped it would arrive today. Hopefully tomorrow. I’ve a whole bunch of who books waiting to be sent, forgotten lives, k9 megabytes and time’s champion are all expected in December so I’d hoped this would arrive so I could start it!

What did you make of the stories you have read so far?

      November 30th, 2020 - 7:07pm

Campfire burning was good. the Beano strip was funny like you would expect.

The enemy from within was the story I read and that was very well put together and a very different and cleverly written situation for the Doctor and Mel to be in.

all good stuff so far. this is going to be a great read. bravo to all those involved in bringing this life.

      have you contacted them?

These are printed in individually to order so there is no wanting for stock to arrive etc.

      November 29th, 2020 - 7:15pm

They print on order, so it should have been sent within 5-10 days of order. You should definitely contact lulu but as the master book is no longer available you’ll have to claim a refund. As the master annual is now deleted the only way to get it will be to order the omnibus edition, which is cheaper than a single edition of the books because its printed purely in black and white.

you sill have an order number and proof and date of purchase.

contact lulu, if they cannot help, go to your bank.

Slightly miffed that I ordered 2 of these on Monday (at 6:30am) one for a gift for a friend and one for myself. They were dispatched earlier today and now I see a 30% discount < 5 days later!

Did you at least use the 15% code on Monday? I’m in the same boat – but it’s the service provider offering the discount. It’s not like the publisher slashed their prices after 5 days!

      November 27th, 2020 - 5:06pm

I used a 10% code but to be honest I’d rather not have risked missing it. Yes it’s a bit annoying but as someone says it not the publisher it’s the printers really.

      November 27th, 2020 - 6:00pm

No in the rush to order it, both a) to get hold of them and b) to get one as early as possible to then onward send to someone else (also as soon as possible) I didn’t see any discount codes and had no idea that there were any. The joys of ordering whilst half asleep, but finding about a 30% reduction (x2) so quickly has somewhat taken the shine off, no matter how good it might be!

Kevin I spotted the 10% at the top of lulu’s page. I’d have preferred 30% though. That said I also just wanted to make sure I got the book. Mines printing now so hopefully won’t be much longer.

Get the omnibus dunc, you may have the others but at the price it’s worth it for the 1972 one. £16.22 plus postage is good considering the cost of the individual annuals (yes they were in full colour but something is better than nothing!)

There are a few discount codes – TREAT15 should work at the moment.

Remember folks – these books are strictly limited edition. Annual 1987 was released in November 2019, but was gone within months. Just like annuals in stores. So order now!

Anthony’s correct. These don’t stay available for long so snap it up. Yes its expensive but there is a lot of full colour art and that is expensive to print. Ordered mine straight away.
